[QUOTE="Zohluff"]

You guys are **** ridiculous.

Sure, MS isn't forcing you to shell out near the price of a new game a year for online. Sure, LIVE has in game chat. But do you guys realize that PSN offers the same experience in gameplay for free?

If a game is broken like Battlefield 1940-Whatever's chat system, it should be fixed. You shouldn't need to pay for an alternative.

I play HAZE, a PS3 game that bombed and "sucked", online and have a blast, similar to my experience on HALO. I played GTAIV online on PSN and, guess what, it was no different on LIVE. Not a difference in gameplay or experience. Why? Because the game's the game, LIVE doesn't change that.

I see that most fanboys don't mind throwing away 50 bucks on an unnecessary priced feature. Good for you. Ignorance is bliss. Meanwhile, I wont pay **** for online because I rather buy one more game a year. I like being able to go online when I want for free. I don't like being sold a gimped system and then being told if I want to enjoy the full experience it's going to cost me more. I paid for my **** I paid money up the ass for an online capable system and internet. Why do I need to pay to add 1 and 1 and get 2? I shouldn't. It should be free.

So, fanboys can suck on their XBOX LIVE all they want and give a million reasons to justify why they're being scammed. Meanwhile, I'll play some online and download a demo or two without spending an additional penny.

MizFitAwesome

So when you are buying BluRays (the king of an unnecessary overpriced feature) that makes you a fanboy? Better yet, the people that prefer XBL over pSN are now fanboys?

He's right though I own BF1943 and BFBC for both 360 and PS3 and there is no difference in online play and skill level. Hey MizFitAwesome just because you pay for Live does not mean it's better then PSN. Out of 20 PS3 games I own, 17 of them are online enable and there all populated. while on 360 I own 21 games 18 of them are online enabled, but only 4 of them are populated which is BFBC, BF1943, Marble Blast Ultral, and Halo 3. I own BF2:MC for the 360 EA had to take down the servers because only 30 people were playing daily. Which forced me to buy the PS2 version you know what there were over 100 people on and over 30 servers to chose from. For the record Blu Ray movies are more detailed then DVD movies.

XBL is the best online service, so naturallyyou have to pay. Seriously it's not expensive.

Miyuki-Chan
No, a free service that lets you play dedicated servers is the best online service. As in PC gaming. If you want a social experience, go outside. If you want to play a game, it should be free. The social aspects of Live and PSN DON'T MATTER. I don't use Steam's social features, nor do I use XFire. There are a lot of PC gamers just like me. They don't care about the social aspect. As long as you can chat online, its fine. Everything else is unnecessary. At the end of the day, its..: PC PS3 XBL Wii? lol

I love my Xbox gold membership, but the main quarrel with the service is the fact that if you are offline, for whatever reason, you cannot play the titles that you previously paid for. That is ridiculous! At least on the PSN you get to play the games you pay for, whether online or off. My internet was disconnected last week, due to lack of $$, and it took me a week to get it back on, but the whole while I didn't have access to any of my downloaded titles or downloaded content. They went from full games to trial games. All my themes and gamer pics that I downloaded weren't available either. Microsoft should have adisclaimer that states, while you may purchase these titles they are never truly yours unless you continue to pay a Xbox Livemembership fee and stay connected to the internet. Microsot offers the best online experience in my book , but the PSN has two big things going for it, one, it is free and two, your titles remain yours once you download them.

Yeah, the people that play demo are unskilled, but in the full game they play the same. I was #12 with the Knife over PS3 in BFBC and #14 over all if 360 gamers were more skilled would I be a lot lower on the over all knife leaderboards? I don't belive skill goes by which platform you play on, but it's experience. For example I score 15-30 kills in a round on BF1943 on PS3 I play the 360 version and score from 15- 28 kills in a round. In BFBC my average score is 500 or 900-1050 if I knife on the 360 version my average score is 500 or 900-1050 if I knife.

The last poll GI had showed 75% of multiplat owners prefer XBL over PSN. Who do you suppose I should beleive? After, playing online on both, it's evident XBL is superior and MOST of the people posting in here agree...

The reason I'm using those 2 games is because there the only 2 I own for both Consoles. Xbox gamers ditching games after a year is nothing to brag about.

No, no no no. The ability to PLAY ONLINE should be free. All the other UNNECESSARY FEATURES should be what people pay for. There is NO reason to have to pay to play online, NO REASON. PC PS3 Wii DS PSP PS2 Dreamcast ALL GIVE YOU THE ABILITY TO PLAY ONLINE FOR FREE. Hurr durr. Can't wrap a concept around my head. Snurf durf.

Justgo on Ebay and pick up 13 months for $10 to $20. Not exactly going to break the bank is it. It's worth every penny in my book.

For the record I got to agree with this. Online play should be available on silver, with exclusive DLC, dedicated servers, etc. for gold membership. Whilst I still say it's great value you should be able to link up with friend's in a basic PSN kinda way for free. Would you really want that though? PSN is still a year or 2 off being up to standard. And even then it's still lacking quite a bit. Personally I would rather pay a pittance and get a ton extra but it would be nice to have a choice.

[QUOTE="DethSkematik"]Think of it this way: You pay for Live because it blows PSN away. Kind of like paying extra money for faster internet...it's still internet, but you're shelling out more for better quality. Trmpt

thats true but when u pay for xbox live ur NOT getting faster interent

If you meant that in the literal sense then yeah, you dont.

But if you said that to actually mean that you dont get overall better quality with LIVE vs PSN then your wrong, you do get a better sevice with LIVE.

xbox live does have better service than psn but by service am talking about features content, dlc, and demos with that service xbox live IS THE SUPERIOR SERVICE

there are a few like me that dont care about those features i dont mind the slow update downloads because am not going to sit and wait for the update to complete i can do other things (i do own all systems), i dont care for the demos most of the time i know if want a game without playing a demo

so for someone that only cares about online gameplay there is no difference and those that care about features should get xbox live there is nothing wrong with the fee if it offers more features but if dont use the features why pay to play online when the other system has it for free

[QUOTE="DamageDamage"]If Microsoft didn't charge I probably wouldn't have Live because the special feeling would disappear. It's better to cost, because they take the money and make it better, unlike Sony, which has nothing. So I think it's a great think it costs.EmperorSupreme
ha ha is this a joke post? Special feeling because you get to pay  And PSN has been improving at a much faster rate than XBL without the fee.

Uh, no not really. All it's done is take features the 360 has had since launch. Even with copying it hasn't improved much.

Yes he is because he is probably talking to his other friends while whipping up on his opponent and you're saying mo PSN games lag. Have they finally patched Fat Princess so they can play? BTW, are you enjoying those FREE trial versions of PSN games so you can see if you like the game?

MizFitAwesome

oh no little fat princess has lag issues for a new game and sure that never happend to a new xbox live game

because u pay for xbox live it guarantees u lag free play for EVERY GAME

and am sure gears of war 2 had no lag issues when it game out because its impossible to have lag issues when ur paying to play onlne

Nice to see cows still trying to justify their new PSN games because a 1 and a half year old 360 title had issues. Would you like to show a link of a new XBLA game scored low because of network issues?

am not trying to justify a psn game infact i dont care for any dlc on both xbox live and psn and as far lag well guess what both xbox live and psn have lag issues sometimes but only one charges for lag

if xbox live fee was only for its amazing content ,features, dlc, and demos and online play was free would u still pay for live?

because for me all the fee covers is the features not the online gameplay and am not going to pay for features i dont use or care for

and yes i can afford $30 a year but just cause its cheap does not mean u should have it

i will never say psn is better but xbox live is not better at actual online gameplay

The only feature I have found on XBL that PSN doesn't have is In Game Pirvate Chat, and where suppose to get that on the next firmware update. (thats what I heard don't if it's true) Content since you have a PS3 you need go to the PS Video store and compare the Movie's and Tv shows to the Video Market Place PS store clearly has more movies and tv shows. DLC sometimes PS3 gets DLC weeks,a day, same time or only on while on the 360 it is the same way. Don't belive me Mirriors Edge time trail map was only on the PS3, Need for Speed new game mode came out on the PS3 first then a few weeks later it was on the 360, BFBC Conquest game mode and Commuinty maps were on the PS3 a day before 360. Demos the new batman demo came out on the PS3 a week before it was on the market place. others a day later, because XBL market place updates a day before the PS Store the only demo I've seen that was on the Makret place for along time before making its way to the PS Store was the Call of Duty World at War demo. For quality the XBL is better, but it's not a big differnce. This is what I know If i'm wrong then prove it.

EDIT: At least PSN doesn't delete your downloads out of your download history. I can download GT HD still from my download history while it is no longer available in the PS store, but XBL deletes stuff out of your download history. Also you can't play the games you bought on another console. For example I bought UNO on my old launch 360 PRO console. Now on my new Refurbished 360 elite I made a new account and downloaded my old account to download all those old games I bought, on my old account uno just locks up and on my new account it shows up as a demo. I find it stupid that they don't show preview of $5 themes while on the PS3 there any were to 50 cents to a dollar and they show previews of the theme unless it on the PSP, but the 360 doesn't and it's a scam since the bottom of the Picture is cut off, because of the new **** interface. Back on the blades they showed the whole picture and on the web site they showed what you were getting now on the web site they hide what the theme looks like.

it's not like when you buy a xbox 360 you get a live card and you can plug and play ...... no you have to have a internetconnection through a provider 2.

so if you don't have a pc because you only want to play on that console you would also need a subscription at a internet provider ( so what does live really offer you ?? )

Why do people who play on the psn network have to make threads about how people who pay for live are being ripped off. If you want to talk about features then stop complaining about what features are missing to make live not needed. Stop complaining about the fact that your network is slow as hell for updates for games that are needed to make the game play. I mean come on people PSN needs to have a way to get my downloads to me faster it needs to download while i look at my blu-ray movies instead of stopping the download until the movie is over. If i buy socom today i should not have to wait a hour and a half to download a 500MB+ update cause you released a game with crappy online that took MONTHS to correct unlike gears of war 2 which took at the most 3 and still is improving everyday. Free is great but when people say that the PSN is better than Live that is because it is based on everything Live has done right and will continue to do correctly while you still wait 6 months later for cross game chat which still has not come to pass yet. Again you will never hear anyone who pays for live say they dont wish it was free but i get my cards for cheap so why would i get mad at paying less than retail when i spend more on games. And for the love of god please stop saying after 3 years you spend X amount of money on it. I game i watch movies i build computers i do not want to think about that type of stuff cause if i did i would probably stop gaming cause it is a expensive hobby.

The only time downloads quit downloading is when your doing somthing online enable it's the same way on XBL. I'm not trying to say PSN is better then XBL I'm trying to say there the same. Yes the big updates are anoying. The reason they are so big is because they come with a patch and add on's. What I wish they would do is make you download the patch when you start the game and get the add on content from the PS store. The only slow part up those big updates is downloading which has nothing to do with PSN but your internet speed and the server your downloading from. Installing is no porblem the 2905MB file that came with Socom only took about 2 mins to install.

If you meant that in the literal sense then yeah, you dont.

But if you said that to actually mean that you dont get overall better quality with LIVE vs PSN then your wrong, you do get a better sevice with LIVE.

IDeadlyReconI

xbox live does have better service than psn but by service am talking about features content, dlc, and demos with that service xbox live IS THE SUPERIOR SERVICE

there are a few like me that dont care about those features i dont mind the slow update downloads because am not going to sit and wait for the update to complete i can do other things (i do own all systems), i dont care for the demos most of the time i know if want a game without playing a demo

so for someone that only cares about online gameplay there is no difference and those that care about features should get xbox live there is nothing wrong with the fee if it offers more features but if dont use the features why pay to play online when the other system has it for free

Back on the blades they showed the whole picture and on the web site they showed what you were getting now on the web site they hide what the theme looks like.

i stopped paying for live back in middle of 2008 and can tell u i dont miss it

i dont mind the download time for updates and patches with the ps3 because its free and i can do other things while they download

i know ps store has tons of movies and shows some from studios that sony owns and ms cant use lol

i have personally tested multiple games on both xbox live and psn and there is no difference with actual online gameplay but for some reason lemmings think that there online gameplay is lag free and faster because they pay for it but they dont think how that fee only covers its features and early demos, dlc paying for faster downlaods on patches and dlc is not worth the fee for me (yes i can afford $30 a year) but i know some people enjoy the features that xbox live has and also enjoy their drm protected content that only works on 1 xbox360

No thats not true i have done it on my xbox 360 watched an hd-dvd movie (yes i still love the better format another arguement for another time) my downloads still kept going. On the PSN i was watching a Kingdom of Heavan directors cut and it stopped downloading (for whatever reason) that movie is long as hell and all i was downlaoding was the patch to street fighter hd remix and it resumed after logged back on. Bottom line is that the PSN should not have servers that take 80 years to download a game especially when its online only and you cant play unless you get the patch.

I think MS is charging for live cause look at the news.......54% of people had the red ring of death and didnt buy another 360.So it could just be because of the xbox 360 decline.

Is that movie on Blu ray? if so blu ray is online enable thats why the game quit downloading.

The fee is certainly questionable, no matter how "cheap" it is. Unless they're maintaining dedicated servers and such for their games -- which they don't, other than the occasional MMO which requires a separate subscription fee -- playing online multiplayer should be the free aspect of Xbox Live. I'm sure they make more than enough from Marketplaces purchases and advertising to pay their bills.

Paying for extras is understandable. But if anything on Xbox Live is free, it should be the most basic of online gaming functionality: multiplayer.

xDimMaK

Yes PSN does not offer dedicated servers, but theres dedicated servers on PC that are free to play on. which proves my point XBL should be free.

[QUOTE="SF_KiLLaMaN"][QUOTE="DamageDamage"]If Microsoft didn't charge I probably wouldn't have Live because the special feeling would disappear. It's better to cost, because they take the money and make it better, unlike Sony, which has nothing. So I think it's a great think it costs.

I HIGHLY doubt that microsoft uses the money to make xbl better. I shouldn't have to be paying to play half of a game I already paid for. But for some reason I actually dished out the $50 for a year because my friend told me to. I do not play 360 enough to justify paying $50 for online.

What are all these updates they make for it and and the extra features there bringing to xbox live?

The point is that Sony is always making changes to the PS3 and PSN. I wouldn't say MS is bringing a lot of new features with the updates. The last update we just had just gave us back old features that they took away, Avatar Market place (Which PSN already has it's called the mall in PSHome.),Games on Demand which is another feature that PSN already had, but does not have as many games to download.

Boy , you cows are still trying to reassure yourselves PSN is better?

  1. An XBL gamer can verify another user by using their gamertag, they would know if that person owns a system and plays it. Anyone can fake a PSN gamertag, that is so weak. You PSN players can't prove yourselves, XBL players can.
  2. EVERY XBLA game has a trial version so you can sample the game and see if you like it before buying. PSN, only a fraction do, but you get a nice cheesy video of the game.
  3. EVERY XBLA has full acheivement support. So the game has enough replayability to attempt to get all of the Acheivements. Only a fraction of PSN games do and by far the most useless PSN game that has Trophy support is 'Linger In Shadows.'

What? You can't fake a PSN account. yeah not all PSN games come with demos thats what reviews are for since the PS3 has a web browser it's easy to look at one. Ever PS3 game from 2008 and on has trophy support. Some older games were patched to have trophies others were too old to care for by the developer. I never read a post on here that said PSN was better then XBL. What I can understand people including my self say XBL is not worth the money compared to PSN, because basically there the same.If you really look at it the only thing PSN does not have that XBL does is In game private chat and Netflix. If you look at my sig I have a gold membership so I can easily compare them. You also have to realize that XBL been around since Nov 2001 while PSN has only been around since Oct 2006.

So you're now saying an average PSN user would rather rely on someone elses opinion as opposed to actually sample the game? That's pretty weak...
