Of course.

Since the 360 has more of them than the PS3.

I will never defend haze. HAze is my ost hated game, as it ruined one of my favorite devlopers Free Radical. Perfect dark zero was still horrible. I lovet Timeplitter Goldeneye style games and Perfect Dark was very very meh and as the first FPS style after thosse types of games in the new gen it dissapointed me so much.

HAZE Terribad, ruined Free RAdical, I will never forgive Haze for this.

PD0, BAD FPS in general. Would not recommend this games to any who have played a timesplitters/golden eye/perfect dark game done right.

honestly exclusives are more important at the beginning of a gen instead of the end. towards the end of a gen, like now, there are so many games that you honestly aren't missing much if you have a console with fewer exclusives at that moment. and the beginning of a gen its crucial though. my backlog is so big right now i have games i probably wont ever play lol

What exactly is Destiny? And why is it that when I click the link it takes me to a multiplatform game?

NeonNinja

As I said in the beginning, if you wait for the major gaming sites for your information you will be waiting for a while. GameSpot only reports on official news, so that is why they haven't changed their information for Destiny even though everything we have here is from the Bungie/Activision contract.

What is Destiny? Besides it being a shooter of some type with a persistant online we know next to nothing.

So, yeah...360 exclusives are nice. I must say, I buy almost all of the retail ones that score high, so I would love more of them since I buy my multiplats elsewhere.

For me, yes. I am not a big Halo fan, IMO there are far better shooters out there for both SP and MP. Gears is a good series though, but not good enough to warrent the purchase of a 360. I find most 360 exclusives to be lackluster and they are only meant for online really, which get boring after a while. That other game you showed is the first time I'm hearing about it, I like that picture. Looks like it has good art direction, but I hope it is not a shooter.

PS3 is the way better console with the way better exclusives, even the Wii has better exclusives than the 360. I understand why lems are so angry on here all the time. System failures, paying for online, crap exclusives, no blu ray, can't compete graphically with PS3, I would be mad too if that was my main or only console. I would take that as a sign to go get the better system, the PS3.

Super Mario For Nintendo and Gran Turismo for Playstations are Halo's Counterparts in the sales wars. As I remember, Nintendo has quite a few including Wii Fit, but Sony's big seller is dat GT series people forget around SW parts (I'm not a GT fan, don't even play GT5, but I know Gran Turismo is a huge, huge seller). :P I didn't even see him bring up sales, but to give you an answer look into Gran Turismo, and in case Wii came up in this thread, look into Wii Fit. You already brought Up Halo, and yeah it's a big selling series as well. Other big franchises are GTA, Pokemon, FIFA, Metal Gear Solid, Tetris, Zelda, Resident Evil, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Need for Speed, Madden, and more and those aren't in any particular order.

This is also why I don't reach into arguments about sales, since In the end it's about a games quality and if you liked it, not how many millions more people bought it.

You weren't asking for him to mention a successful game, you wanted it to be as uber successful as Halo. Success wasn't enough for whatever he was going to mention, it had to be a game that sold on that Halo level. He then will inevitably mention a game or games, and it becomes a 20 million vs. 50 million in sales contest or whatever. The argument could spin into debating games you hate, just to get the last words because X game sold moar than Y game.

That's why I came in and game big sellers for the other consoles to prevent this spinning out of control.

I would focus more on the kinds of games you play, you like instead of bringing up sales is my advice. :P

Actually, according to the contract, the first Destiny game is being developed as an Xbox 360 exclusive with the possibility of release later in the fall of 2014 on the PS3 depending on technical feasibility and commercial desirability, which, according to the contract you mentioned, have not yet been determined.

"Bungie's upcoming Destiny will be a timed exclusive according to the contract, with a port due shortly thereafter as the series is planned for PC, PS3, 360, 720, and various next gen machines."

I mentioned PC, 720 and PS3 as they are in the contract. My point was simply about exclusives, which this thread bears in it's title, that word. You mentioned only PS3, but I assume you aren't denying that Destiny is coming to PC? In a thread about exclusives, Destiny shouldn't really be in the discussion, unless people wish for Activision PR and marketing to make them feel otherwise (which is their job to do).

Take up more information with Brendan Sinclair @ Gamespot.com who said : "A PlayStation 3 version of the game would be planned to follow in the fall of 2014.". He's not the only one, just having fun with the fact Gamespot.com reported on this.

We are also dealing with massive multiplatform agnostic publishing giant Activision who plans on monetizing all four games in the series like clockwork (note to other people reading that aren't you, this message is for them no offense).

LINKS for SW : The contract.

I should say that I'm no oracle, and with any port if this game bombs, everything can cancel. If for whatever reason, it's decided the PS3 market or the PC market isn't worth porting the game, then it won't be ported. We all know late ports don't sell as well, but the idea is about exposure of the franchise. Think EA/Bioware's Mass Effect series. The 360 COULD retain the first game in the series (EA swooped up Bioware late, Activision got to Bungie at an earlier junction), but that's not the plan. The plan is to optimize it and profit.

If the game did bomb, Destiny will then remain a 360 exclusive with nothing planned. Hopefully that doesn't happen. The reason why Activision wants this FIRST game across various platforms is to sell the sequels of course. Best way to do that is to introduce the audiences of other platforms the game. Knowing how ACTIVISION rolls, this should come as no surprise. The real surprise is the timed exclusive nature of an Activision published title (They have a whole decade planned out), but thems the breaks when dealing with a high profile studio like Bungie, who spent this entire gen on the 360.

Here's the battle plan summed up for those not interested in links :

Bungie Contract/Schedule with ACTIVISION

2013 : Game 1 360 Timed exclusive, ported to PS3/PC in 2014
2014 : DLC
2015 : Game 2 multiplatform city at this point, perhaps unveiled for PS4/720/PC
2016 : DLC
2017 : Game 3 at some point this series is going Next Gen, but the pace is laid out.
2018 : DLC multi
2019 : Game 4 multi
2020 : DLC multi

Anything can happen, but that's the plan. Destiny represents more than a singular game, it's a whole series and map with even DLC plans across multiple Platorms for maximum monetary acquisition...Activision's Modus Operandi.

It's more than a possibility, this is all PLANNED to come to PC/PS3 which is what I said in the beginning. Plans fall through, sure, but this is the Plan and is in the contract. It's more than a mere possibility.

In this comic, what role does Newman play? Is he a Lemming? Well, if he is a Lemming, why is he asking what exclusives are available on the 360 platform? Surely a Lemming would know such things. Surely in this comic, Newman is a Cow, and the Soup Nazi is also a Cow. Newman is sarcastically asking what's available on the 360, and I infer Newman implies that the 360 has only two franchises, Cow1. The Soup Nazi backs him up, Cow2. Somehow, Xbox 360 is on the menu... It just seems like two cows pandering each other to me. By the way, Newman gets his soup. Elaine and George don't.

We are also dealing with massive multiplatform agnostic Activision (note to other people reading that aren't you, this message is for them no offense).

I saw the source that printed that too and they got it wrong. Here's a better one.

"The first game, which is to be an Xbox 360 exclusive, is planned for a 2013 release, with a sequel every other year after that. Although the first game is to be an Xbox 360 exclusive, the following sequels would be released on the PS3/PS4, PC, and Xbox 720 should the developer and publisher see fit."

Link

Am I denying the possibility of a PC port? No. I'm not denying that one could arise for the PS3 either. But at this point, the only system named for the release of the first Destiny game is the 360, according to the contract. Any possible ports are just that. Possiblities.

[QUOTE="deu5ka175"][QUOTE="parkurtommo"] Not really, the PS3 has more exclusives that appeal to me since they aren't as competitive and don't involve guns at all... Journey, Demon's Souls (swords=/= guns :D), Motorstorm, and plenty of pretentious indie games like echochrome which I love. :3rjdofu

And? The 360 has more exclusives that appeal to me like Halo, Gears, Forza, PGR4, It has Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead, and Metro 2033 as well....meaning I do not have to spend money on a PC if I do not want too in order to play those. Echochrome? Ha. XBLA has the best indie games on console. Summer of Arcade always gives us 3 or 4 gems. While Cows and Sheep have been catching up on older titles.....Lems just got new arcade games in the last month. Deadlight and Dust are quite fantastic.......

Who cares about you. And why the F do you list Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead, and Metro 2033 when we talk about exclusives?

Retail exclusives, genre wise, Ps3 >>>>>>> 360, that's a fact.

I see reading is not your strong suit.

Reading must be hard. :?

Nowhere in the actual contrract does it say the first Destiny game is going to be developed for anything other than the 360. The contract itself says parties will "currently contemplate the development and commercial release" on the PS3 subject to a "joint technical feasibilty analysis" that will determine whether or not the game can be made at a quality and feature parity with the 360 version.

The PC isn't mentioned as far as Destiny Game 1

In fact, the only other platform the game is guaranteed (key word there :P :o ) to show up on besides the 360 is the Xbox 720.

Just sayin. :) :P :o

As bad as Forza 4 made GT5 look I would not care about sales. Forza 4 made GT5 look bad. Aside from the premium cars, GT5 had nothing that compared.

About 2.3 million according to VGChartz, which is good but not in the same league as Gran Turismo.

Which is a shame, since Forza 4 is the better game, by far.

[QUOTE="Plagueless"]Damage controlling because those "crappy" exclusives still sell way more than their PS3 counterparts? Come back when PS3 gets a game that sells like Halo does.RR360DD

Gran Turismo may have been a "huge huge" seller in the past, but GT5 flopped critically and only sold 7.7million. Great sales, but not "huge huge".

We are still talking sales after all that? Honestly? Okay....sales are boring, but whatever. Wii Fit sold 22 million, and I put that in the same category as well. I assume you are using Lolchartz (That's fine, I don't care)? I'm guessing Halo Reach is a million or two ahead of GT5, but this isn't a race. It's not like I made Halo or Gran Turismo or play or care about Racing games. This is just a pissing contest sales number to some kids in SW as if they get any of the money. Let's go back...Okay according to whatever source, 7.7 million thus far for Nov 2010's GT5 compared to Sept 2010's Halo Reach as that's in the same time frame-ish.

I can tell you that GT5 as of Dec 2011 sold 7.4 million according to Sony, which was sometime ago. So, already lolchartz seems dubious, but we'll stick with it.

His words : "Come back when PS3 gets a game that sells like Halo does". "Like". No one expects exact numbers, but like. Personally, I BOUGHT Two copies of Reach for both my 360's to LAN. In fact, I have a third copy I downloaded for my HDD, So I bought two retail copies and one Digital copy, a total of three copies. I bought zero copies of Gran Turismo. So, if I have a horse in this race, it's Halo Reach.

Okay, GT5 should suffice in terms of big sellers like Halo. He didn't specify HALO REACH, he specified HALO, which we should also consider later.

Still, 2010's GT5 close enough, right? Given that GT series has long legs, that figure is going to grow at least until GT6 is released (if even this gen). This year's Halo 4 will cannibalize Reach's sales a bit as it's coming sooner, but that's what I meant and said. So, by your own source, look up 2010's GT5 and pit it against 2010's Halo Reach. What is it, like 7 million to 9 million at chartz? There you go.

He simply wanted to see a PS3 game sell LIKE Halo, and GT5 can do that just fine. He believed the HYPE around SW forums. That HYPE and generalization being, PS3 games don't sell. It's one of those stereotyping Trololol things in SW no one should believe, but sometimes young ones get caught up in the crossfire, getting confused. Well, now he knows the reality, as you do.

Now, if we consider Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, and Halo ODST, and look at those sales. We can pit GT5 against any one of those titles as well, although we would have to keep in mind those games are older. In the end, GT series sells LIKE Halo, and that's good enough. I mentioned Wii Fit, but you don't seem to care about that game. I suppose that's understandable as you have a Master Chief Halo Avatar afterall.

Wii Fit seems to have sold Halo Reach and GT5 combined, but I just called them all uber since it's ridiculous numbers. I also brought up great franchises from 3rd parties as well. In the grand scheme of things, GT5 is pretty comparable to Halo Reach.

My entire point was to bring up how futile sales discussion is when we are talking millions upon millions of games.

You need to relax, I didn't even mention Halo in my post. I was merely pointing out that GT sales aren't what they used to be.

I'm relaxed, but it's true you didn't mention Halo although I was in a discussion with a guy who did mention Halo and you quoted me. I may have jumped the gun because you usually are very aggressive, troll, and like to argue, so I was getting ready to engage and cover all bases before I fully deployed. The last few times you quoted me this month, it wasn't nice and I had to take the old gloves off. Perhaps I over estimated this encounter, if so apologies. The next post/reply will let me know if that's the case.

My point was merely to give a comparable game sales series for the Wii and PS3 against the 360's fantastic selling Halo series to that poster, and to point out that changing the discussion to sales isn't the strongest way to argue. That was all. I even donated other big sellers for that poster to look into as well.

I did what I set out to do, and nothing changed other than I am now replying to new posters.

With regards to GT5 specifically, I don't care enough to argue for it. GT5 got AA (84/100 at meta) instead of AAA scores, sux for Polyphony. Forza's gaining rep on them the last few games and Poly better watch out. Almost every single GT5, Forza, Need for Speed, and Forza threads in SW I avoided as those aren't games I play too much. If I don't care to play them, I'm not going to argue for them. I leave that for other, more passionate race fans. :P I have to imagine you know this, but just in case : As far as sales, it's nearly impossible to imagine GT5 could sell what last gens GT3 & GT4 did because there were over 150+ million PS2's out there vs. 60 million PS3s. The GT series was bound to take a hit based on install base alone, which is fairly obvious. However, GT5 did fantastic considering it's handicap of being on PS3's smaller userbase. The fact that GT5 scored lower may have hurt the brand as well, reducing sales. My point was, GT series is a big seller. The smaller the userbase though, obviously, the smaller the sales.

Sony took the original xbox for granted. It was really the staleness of the ps2 that lost the thunder. Gamers started seeing what's was doing towards the end. Xbox 360 got a lot of converts because of this. Ironically the same thing is happening this gen, but the other way around--Sony is certainly setting themselves up better for nextgen.

[QUOTE="deu5ka175"] And? The 360 has more exclusives that appeal to me like Halo, Gears, Forza, PGR4, It has Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead, and Metro 2033 as well....meaning I do not have to spend money on a PC if I do not want too in order to play those. Echochrome? Ha. XBLA has the best indie games on console. Summer of Arcade always gives us 3 or 4 gems. While Cows and Sheep have been catching up on older titles.....Lems just got new arcade games in the last month. Deadlight and Dust are quite fantastic.......deu5ka175

Who cares about you. And why the F do you list Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead, and Metro 2033 when we talk about exclusives?

Retail exclusives, genre wise, Ps3 >>>>>>> 360, that's a fact.

I see reading is not your strong suit.

Nope, those are not exclusives by any stretch of imagination. In lems lalaland, :-s maybe.

7.7 million is just "great!?" How many exclusives this gen between Sony and MS have actually hit 7 million? Halo is the only one I can think of and it was something like 9 million, not too far ahead.

I would focus more on the kinds of games you play, you like instead of bringing up sales is my advice. :P

Gran Turismo may have been a "huge huge" seller in the past, but GT5 flopped critically and only sold 7.7million. Great sales, but not "huge huge".

7.7 million is just "great!?" How many exclusives this gen between Sony and MS have actually hit 7 million? Halo is the only one I can think of and it was something like 9 million, not too far ahead.

didn't halo 3 sell like 18 million?

Sorry, was only thinking about Reach for some reason. Halo 3 was around 12 million I believe. My point still stands though, no other 360 exclusive has surpassed GT's sales and even if they did, 7.7 million is still a hell of a lot.
