[QUOTE="heretrix"][QUOTE="drj077"]Nonsense. The moment you take any of the consoles out of the box they decrease value. The only reason you'd get more for a PS3 is because it cost more money. That's the thing, though. In terms of long term committment, the 360 will be cheaper now, but it will devalue faster. The second you take it out of the box, you're out a $100. This isn't true with the PS3. You're right, I can spin this however I want, but this problem is analagous to buying an American-made care right now. You drive it off the lot and it's worth half of what you paid for it. You buy foreign and you don't have that problem. That's why I own a brand new Toyota Corolla.

Awesome. No wonder i got one. We buy a console to play games, i don't care about how much ATI rate it's processor or the aftermarket value of my motherboard. I can tell that you don't consider the inherant value of things and whether or not it will maintain that value when you purchase your electronics. That is something that concerns me and it's the reason why I only buy quality electronics, cars, etc.
You're right. I have never thought to my self ... in 3 years this PS3 will be drop 25% in value... ummm no point in buying it. I dont sell consoles, and why would i? Its a poor investment unless it increases in moneyThere is no such thing as a technology that increases in value anymore. Gone are the days when used consoles accumulated wealth. Only unopened collector's edition boxes of games like MGS4, etc. are capable of that anymore. From the last two generations forward, no system will increase in worth, because the technology updates and upgrades move too fast. However, foreign made systems seem to hold their value far longer.

I'm trying to, but this other person is persistant. Some people like the latest and greatest and are willing to pay a little extra. Others just want the day before todays technology and are comfortable with all the perks that brings to their lives.
That's all I'm trying to say.

Yes, you can actually. The PS3 has the best multiplayer experience in the forms of R2 and Warhawk along with all the various Tom Clancy games. IT has great RPGs with one of them being highly under-rated in the form of Valkyria Chronicles. It also has what is probably one of the best platformers of this generation with the common opinion being that it a great game with Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction. The system also has the game with the most diverse story and highest rating with the exception of GTA IV (also on PS3) in the form of MGS4. All other sports games are available. Fallout 3, Oblivion, DeadSpace, Eternal Sonata, etc. are all found on the system. If you honestly can't find something to play with the built in wireless, free online, Blue-tooth capabiltiy and built-in Blu-ray, then you have far worse problems than gaming.
This wall of text adds nothing to the thread. How is WarHawk or R2 better then Halo3? They're not. Simple. No argument. Halo has better support, better community, better events AND is infinately more popular, it's the WoW of Console games. A) It's all subjective. B) Xbox has more diversity. C) Xbox has more, and better games, according to "Popular belief" D) Xbox = £130 PS3 = $298.
the xbox does not have better games! omg i'm tired of hearing that tell me which games there are on the xbox and i'll match them for the ps3.

Well let's see here...
I've checked Amazon.com and found listings for the Core unit (not the Arcade) and found it selling used for as low as $120 and going up from there to about $170. The $120 system was only as low as it is because the seller listed it as having the RROD. And keep in mind that these are the current prices, prices that probably would've been higher a few months ago before the price drop. So, essentially, you have only yourself to blame for not getting a decent price back as you can clearly see you could've sold it for more on Amazon and Ebay, even getting more than half of the original price back.

Took the hit on purpose eh? Right. So you'd have no reason to blame the Xbox 360 for your failure to try to get an extra return on your investment, right? I mean, I've just proven you could've sold it for more than you did, you just chose not to. Again, you have only yourself to blame.

1a. It doesn't matter. The PS2 as a system still exists so any software produced for it will work on the original system.
2a. The original Xbox was a much better system hardware wise than the PS2. I can't believe you are trying to make that argument. The first 2 playstations hardware was GARBAGE.

You say that you can find cables for the ps3 cheaper, and the console for cheap by searching online, but then dismiss someone else using that exact princiable.
You also bought a 360, and you have said that you only buy quality Tech...so what happened?
Also you should be suspended for putting down cultures...its quite pathetic...just as like your arguments...

Maybe because the 360 was out before the PS3, and that gives them more time to make more games. Now if they came out on the same time then this would be a good argument, but they didn't so this argument failed.
koolaidWTF
Preach on my brotha! Next gen doesn't start until Sony says so! Anything out before PS3 doesn't count. So you're right, lemmings enjoying their 360's and getting their games a year in advance of the PS3 is complete failure and unfair. If you want things to be equal you can't count the 360's first year at all. Its not Sony's fault that MS came out earlier. It doesn't matter what 360 did before PS3 came out only what it did after the PS3 came out.

You think that I'm using large words. What grade are you in? Because, if it's anything passed 6th grade, you should be ashamed of whatever education you have received, my friend.
Arguing with you stooges, while enlightening, is pretty much the reason why I never post on Gamespot anymore. If you want to do a really fun experiment, take away all cell phones, computers, etc. away from a any given high school class and then have them write a paper. It is rather hilarious to watch the younger generation struggle with grammer, spelling, and the like when they don't have technology as a crutch.

All your arguments have been completely subjective and confined to your case. If you prefer the PS3, that's fine, but you should realize the difference between fact and opinion.
The Xbox 360 is cheaper than the PS3. Because $200 < $400.
Adding in Wifi, battery packs, and LIVE fees is a way to drive up the price. You don't need any of those things to make it run - Would you feel justified if people went around stating the cost of the PS3 is $00 + HDTV + Sound System?:?
The value of the consoles is completely subjectiv.

The value of the consoles is completely subjectiv.
You've simply restated my exact point. For the 360 to run like a PS3 you'd have to to pay more than what you'd just pay for a PS3. That's my whole point. I already have a HDTV and superb surroud system. Those aren't accessories. Those are indulgences. To get pseudo-high def on the 360 you either need Monster analog cables or HDMI.
That's what I've been trying to say. The PS3 currently fits my needs as a gamer and HD enthusiast. The 360 is dated and does not. It's as simple as that.

All your arguments have been completely subjective and confined to your case. If you prefer the PS3, that's fine, but you should realize the difference between fact and opinion.

That was my whole point as wellIm laughing at your attempt "buddy". Debate Skills, Intuition....lolo attempting to criticize someone and doing a poor job at it. Also lets just take a look at your grammar and pathetic attempts at demeaning someone, and proving a complete lie as fact.
Your biased, and naive. You show us more ,and more your complete lack of understanding. I just dont understand how hard it is to grasp such a simple concept...Take a moment to read this thread, and attempt to understand peoples meaning. Or continue to post nonsense and make me laugh...Lol a degree from America...what an idiot.,

So, you think that an advanced degree from an Accredited American Medical Institution is worthless? That's pretty silly if you ask me.

SO to get the PS3 to run like an Xbox you would have to spend an additional $200 and actually by an xbox PS3$400(and360$200)=600...Unless you meant comparable...Hmmm...You seem to be an idiot...Im laughing at your attempt "buddy". That was my whole point as wellWell, then we are in agreement. I was trying to teach that other gentlemen the importance of value and purchasing technology that maintains a sense of value. He didn't understand.

So why does the 360 need to run like a PS3? There is no identity crisis, the 360 does fine on it's on. From my perspective, Wifi, Blu-ray and all those fancy technologies in the PS3 drove the price up for little reason. For me, those are accessories that I don't want packaged in my console.
Your point was that the PS3 was undeniably better than the 360, and you stated it like it was a fact. I'm just saying, you need to be a bit more liberal with the IMO and stop trying to speak for everyone else.
Lol...Now you wanna make bets? What are you going to school for? What school? name a proffesor from that school, Also explain to me your FAFSA, and wether or not you have a dorm, then tell me your credits per semester, and break down the costs per year from that school...ok?How much are you willing to bet? I have $150,000 worth of Medical School, Graduate School, and Undergraduate education debt I need to pay off. You seem like just the sucker to pay that off for me.
