[QUOTE="st1ka"][QUOTE="Animal-Mother"] how big big is the memory card?Animal-Mothereither 256 or 512 don't remember Well if i remember correctly, my save data takes up about anywhere in between 4-5 gigs, but i have a big game library, but what you have to realize if peoples game collections are going to increase over time they are going to have to get an HD or go old school and Memory card swap and manage files when they get full true, you have a point

At the end of the day, it's still $100 cheaper than the PS3. Oh and by the way, the Arcade doesn't come with a hard drive but it does have an HDMI port. well my mistake for the HDMI, and you are right to an extent, people try to argue because the arcade is 200 dollars, yes its cheap, yes it sells more because of it, but at the end of the day the PS3 does come with more features then the arcade model, people fail to see it, but people here are right, it sells more because it's cheap, and cheap is good especially in these timesTheres a cable for ya, thats some real milkage, just because 360 gives out HD cables there unstoppable, Please if purchase a 360 arcade, no HD, No HDMI, things that ALREADY come with a PS3.

Well, yeah, in the same way the Elite 360 has more features than the Arcade. The fact of the matter is, for a casual gamer that doesn't care about downloading games and the like, the $200 Xbox 360 Arcade may be a good value.
[QUOTE="dark-warmachine"]This has been done many times before. There's just no convincing lems so why bother. They look at price up front just like most consumers. Had Sony stripped some features from the ps3 to make it cheaper it would obviously sell more than it's selling now.
The_Game21x
What do you think the 40 and 80 GB systems are? Sony stripped out all of the PS2's hardware as well as cut out the memory card slots and 2 USB ports in order to cut the PS3's high production costs and offer a price drop last year. At this point, there isn't much they can take out of the PS3 besides wi fi without losing cruicial features.
And as I've said before, the Xbox 360's accessories are just that. Accessories. They're there for the folks who are interested in purchasing them. Contrary to the TC's opinion, not everyone cares about making their Xbox 360 equivalent to the PS3 in terms of features and for those people, they can buy an Arcade system and, if they're interested, can get a 20GB HDD and three months of XBL from MS for $30 at their leisure.
I was going for stripped to the point where the ps3 is equivalent to the 360.

That is true, Honestly i use alot of the features my PS3 gives me, I use hulu on it, If the movie thing pulls through on Home, it'll be an amazing feature, HDMI is great, Wifi is nice so i can play from the comfort of my room, but your right the average user, just knows how to throw in a disc and play

Of course, you can't argue that[QUOTE="obamanian"]199$ Animal-Mother+100 if your using WIFI +100 for a hard drive Plus hundreds of dollars of batterys youll spend in coming years
You need WiFi for gaming, I'll have to get one then, but my wireless singal is horrible. Also the harddrive could go for $20, some places give them away for free.
You did forget to add in the price of the house and, car
Car: Bugatti Veyron: $1,192,057
Home: $115,000,000
360: $400 (x2, in case of RROD)
WiFi $100
Total: $116,192,957
Now for the PS3
PS3: $400. But it is also a BluRay player, a BluRay player could cost around $300. So it should be -$300. So the PS3 really costs $100
The "*Real*" cost of the PS3 vs 360 is
360: $116,192,957
PS3: $100
What about the arcade? It is only $199. Hmmmm.let me explain. First of all the PS3 is 400 dollars and the xbox 360 (pro) is 300 elite 400
okay so in the ps3 it comes with wireless internet, free online, and a controller with an already rechargable battery, and a bluray player
the 360 comes with a controller that you would have to buy batteries for or buy a rechargable battery pack, and hdmi cables. (I don't know if the pro does.) for the 360 you have to pay 50 dollars a year for live
so this is what it boils down to.
PS3=$400+100(hdmi cables may be cheaper)or +$20(hd cables)=$420-$500
xbox360=$300-$400+ $50x(amount of years for live, we will say two years for now which is not that long)+$11(battery pack) or batteries. +100(wireless adapter)=$$511-$611
so contrary to popular opinion, the xbox will wind up costing you more even without getter blu-ray
(by the way i have both systems. I'm no fanboy.)

In terms of just how much you spend it really depends. I spent alot more money on my Xbox 360 to get the same level of functionaltiy as my PS3. However, people vary on what they need. If people just wanted to play games offline, then they should get a Premium (Honestly, the Arcade model is useless without a hard drive) and that costs just 170 squid. That's about 130 squid cheaper than a PS3. If you wanted to use internet services then you add on the cost of Xbox live, which is 40 squid. That's makes the 360 90 squid cheaper (However this is only for one year, making this one the biggest factors to consider.). Now if you wanted WiFi that would also cost you about 50 squid, so that brings it down to 40 squid cheaper. At this point for 40 squid you could get the console with the Blu Ray player and better reliability. If you don't care, then that's fine, but most people probably would spend go for that extra 40 seeing as it's probably worth it in the long term.
You should also probably add on the cost for a charger kit, which is about 15 squid these days. (Personally I perfer wired controllers, I mean seriously, what's the point?) However this can be negated anyway as the console comes with a headset worth about 15 squid.
If you buy an elite, then, well I don't really know what to say. I guess some people might want to pay the extra money for a slightly better experience...
But if you want the full package of either console it comes down to what games you want on those consoles. The actual value of the console for those who want a fairly complete experience seems to be all about the games.
Note: This thing wont let me use pounds properly so I used squid instead.
