Xbox 360 murdered console gaming this generation

The Xbox brand has literally dragged console gaming through the ground. Having a ghetto PC as the leaading console for the first year or two of the race was really bad, because now the main console experiences (now FPS games rather than console genres such as action adventures and the like) are simply watered down PC experiences. Console gaming is seriously having trouble standing out from PC gaming this gen, thanks to Xbox.

It's obvious that Microsoft's goal was to bring gimped, watered down and dumbed down PC gaming to the masses. If they wanted to do that, that's their choice, but they have to realize that because their system was leading in developer support, most developers for consoles now make dumbed down PC experiences to fit the Xbox criteria, and that has affected console gaming as a whole.

Well, I would argue that MS's goal is actually to speed up console releases making it unsustainable for anyone else to keep up, thereby killing the competition. HOwever, that failed when Nintendo launched the Wii and the PS3 was seen as a viable BR player.

But I disagree that MS has killed anything. They are doing well this gen, mostly thanks to their cut throat business practices. But they are certainly not murdering gaming. They are barely even managing to "win" what little they are ahead at.

I think thats why lemmings as a group are so bitter and angry.

Oh sure, have a go at Hardware Prices, even though my PC was £690 ( 8800 GT , Quad Core 2.4 GZ & 4GB 800 MHZ RAM )

While my 360 was:

£280 (Pro) + 1 year LIVE = £315 + BAttery Charger = £330 just to get started ... with poor hardware and a RROD within the first 4 months :roll: louder tham my PC too.

and now lets look at games shall we, According to my Xfire I have 16 Multiplat games. now judging by RETAIL prices:

360 Games £40-45 RETAIL

16 x £40 = £640
16 x £45 = £720

or

PC Games £17-£23 RETAIL

16 x £17 = £272
16 x £23 = £368

looks like the prices are somewhat even? :lol: ... Lemmings ... pffft .... other than US have it rough.... and the world doesnt revolve around you, so I would be quiet when you mock our "Investments" over yours.

To this date the ps3 does not have a single game that stands out from the crowd, to this date the PS3 has not managed anything the 360 hasn't managed, to this date the PS3 has been doing nothing but copying MS and Nintendo in a desperate attempt at catch up.

There was more on the PS2 during this time, theres nothing wrong with my logic, the 360 binges off the PC's western centric game culture , which is fine seeing as its a western console .... but it offers little of anything else.

I've noticed a lot of weakness in Japanese software over the last few years and its only getting worse and worse. here we go again, every hermit forgets that not every man woman and child in the universe own a Desktop, i have a friggin laptop smart one, i would need a lot more than just some hardware, therefore, for ME PC costs WAYYYYYYYYYY MORE than a 300 dollar 360...and u bought the battery carger and paid full price for live? lol ud think someone who bought PC parts would be smart enough to know how to find a deal, its funny u find deals for PC parts but not things for the 360, i only paid 30 bucks for live for the year

Live 1 year was £30 or 35 , I cant remember which , and no .. I no where to find deals.

And well, you not having a desktop? so what? that adds Monitor ( or tv assuming you already have 1 of those ofcourse? :roll: ) mouse/keyboard and speakers (which again I assume you at least have the speakers and possible a mouse ) ...

You ignored those things, but then I show you that games are half the damn price, you easily make up the difference.... and thats just while owning the one console.

I dont find deals for PC hardware ... those are the normal retail prices, infact Overclockers.co.uk has slightly higher premium than most OEM retailers.

I find it so funny to see people say things like this when the 360 has the most diverse lineup of games of any console so far this generation.

So, what is the PS3 doing to diversify the industry that the 360 isn't? The last time I checked, despite the 360 having more of practically every genre than the PS3, their lineups and approach to the market are very similar.

yes because the japanese industry was SOOOOOOOOOOO diverse right? lol dating sims and weird games like finger up the bum arcade cabinents....outside of that western developers are creating the same genres as the japanese...so you really dont have any basis on this whole the japanese we're more diverse.

You got to be joking. Mario (the old ones, 64, etc), Metal Gear, Metroid, Final Fantasy, even WarioWare and Wii Sports, Resident Evil, almost all fighting games (Street Fighter, TKoF, etc), what the heck, even Pokemon (which while i don't like it, was a megabomb in the entire world), were all games that started various genres or at least made their mark on them. In fact, even already existing genres only got really popular after some of those games (like platformers with Mario and Sonic). If you want to i could list a lot more titles for many genres, in fact, much more than western devs have created.
