Xbox 360 murdered console gaming this generation

The Xbox brand has literally dragged console gaming through the ground. Having a ghetto PC as the leaading console for the first year or two of the race was really bad, because now the main console experiences (now FPS games rather than console genres such as action adventures and the like) are simply watered down PC experiences. Console gaming is seriously having trouble standing out from PC gaming this gen, thanks to Xbox.

It's obvious that Microsoft's goal was to bring gimped, watered down and dumbed down PC gaming to the masses. If they wanted to do that, that's their choice, but they have to realize that because their system was leading in developer support, most developers for consoles now make dumbed down PC experiences to fit the Xbox criteria, and that has affected console gaming as a whole.

Xbox has ruined console gaming this gen and made it lose its identity. One can only hope that PS3 and Wii rectify this situation, because 360 only makes it worse, with its generic simpleton dumbed down PC game clones. Discuss.

although it is true taht all pc/360 multiplats are better (way better) on pc it is not the reason why they are dragging down the console gaming, main reason is actually the lack of a new format like blu ray

Live 1 year was £30 or 35 , I cant remember which , and no .. I no where to find deals.

I dont find deals for PC hardware ... those are the normal retail prices, infact Overclockers.co.uk has slightly higher premium than most OEM retailers.

Well GTA IV, Ninja Gaiden 2 (just for the 360) and Soul Calibur IV, will be released to the 360 and the PS3 shortly, i wouldn't want to miss them...

This thread is doo doo butter. It's following the same logic that shovelware destroys the Wii's library. Bad games, or consoles, have no effect on their quality counterparts. Since one does not rely on the other it's impossible for them to affect each other. Not only that, no one is forced to buy any of them.

Really? Cause I didn't. I bought it for Oblivion, Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, Kameo, Forza 2, PGR, Overlord, and Bioshock. I also really enjoyed Gears of War (so shoot me). First person shooters is by far my least favorite genra and I love my 360.

I have a PC more capable than my 360 but I don't use it for gaming. My PC is in my office for programming, work, paying bills, home movies, etc. My 360 is in the family room for entertainment.

i use my PC for all my gaming its better then using a controller for FPS (wich r my favorites) and has way more players online plus i dont have to pay 50 bucks a year just to use online (and microsoft better not ruin that with there windows live crap) the fact is pc's will always be better than any consol you can realease yes it is a pain to upgrade your computer every year but its far superior to any consol out or that will come out and it basicly has the same games as 360 expet for halo and limmited others but i hate halo anyways so i will continue using good controls and get a better gaming experience on my PCNick3306

Which is exactly why I dont own a PS3? The 2 "Power House" consoles have been a big let down to me so far, I have more fun with the Wii... why? I get more friends to play them with me, even female friends, no matter how crud the game is, its more fun than stuff like Halo 3 which lasted a whopping month before it got so boring most of my mates sold it, jumped to CoD 4... and now jumping to the generic crap that Vegas 2 is.

I quite frankly stopped playing my 360 with mates ... and vice versa ... the insentive is so low, we save onlione shooting fests for when we cant all be together now and play online on the PC instead..

a pc is great and everything but somehow i just like sitting on my couch playing with a controller...

i like the pc but i can't play it more than an hour or two at a time.

i know pc is better, but i still play my 360 more.

All consoles are gimped PCs. They are using the same components. As far as console gaming, its still the best console in terms of games. Perhaps you should try a different argument........ one that has some chance of success.

I concur. It's been happening ever since Xbox's first year. Halo:CE and Splinter Cell were like holy crap awesome in the early Xbox days but imo it's been going downhill ever since. The libraries of each respective system speak for themselves. The 360 has more exclusive racing games (Forza 2, PGR 3 and 4) More fighting games (DOA 4) and hell, the 360 has more RPGs than the PS3 both western and japanese (Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey).

This is all common knowledge. By the way, nice job of conveniently dodging my question with another question. Thing is, it seems only one of us was actually prepared to answer the other.
