[QUOTE="mgs_freak91"]umm doesnt SONY basicly own Blu-ray though? i mean they own most of the shares/stocks.gensigns
Matsushita holds as many patents as Sony does on Blu-Ray.
You also realize that MS VC-1 codec is used on many, many, many Blu Ray discs already...
Which is the company that makes the drives for Nintendo. Don't think Nintendo would have much problem getting Bluray based drives in their next console. Which, I will title the "Awesome".

yea but is blu-ray we're talking about, not whats in the blu-ray. and SONY does own the majority of stocks when it comes to blu-ray. when ppl think blu-ray they think sony, maybe even ps3.
BluRay is now a company that people can own stock in? Didn't know that. As for as when people think bluray they think Sony, or even the Ps3. thats very sad for the PS3 if people think about a GAMING MACHINE when someone says BluRay. BluRay IS a big selling point of the PS3 but it shouldn't be. The big selling point of the Ps3 should be its games, not the fact that you can play movies with it. But then again, a big selling point of the Ps2 was the facdt it could play DVDs. Guess the ps3 is going to be relugated to casualness like the ps2 was when it started.

umm no, blu-ray is a product which big companies can own stocks in. go look it up! and also SONY has advertised the PS3 as a multimedia machine, it plays music, watches movies, plays games, WIFI connection for web browsin and so on.

ur PC doesnt play high definition movies (blu-ray) naturally, you need to buy the addons. the ps3 comes with that built in, esp cause people now buy hd tvs (atleast the majority). the ps3 is also a gaming console as well, the problem is that SOny advertised it mainly as a blu-ray player, but even then if you ask people under 18 years of age, they would say that they got a ps3 for the games, not for the HD movies. anyways back to wat we were talking about. its not my fault that the ps3 does more then play games, if u have issues with it go talk to SONY!!! im happy that i have a console that can play the games i want (resistance, folklore, MGS4, GOW3, GT5) and ive got the future of high definition movies at my finger tips, i love james bond, i got a copy of a blu-ray casino royale and i enjoy watchin it all the time! it looks amazing on my HD tv!! i like that i can store all my music onto my ps3 not needing to change cds (actually! in my case dvds!!, most of the space taken up on my ps3 is movies and music!) i can do all of that!
SONY has a large control on what happens with Blu-ray, they are the major stock holders. though its not as though all the decision are up to them, and they might allow MC to use blu-ray and all of that, they do get money themselves. Two things can happen:
1. MC gets to use blu-ray, and SONY gets money out of it, this probly wouldnt increase ps3 sales.
2. MC doesnt use blu-ray, and the ps3 is known as the only console that can play Blu-ray movies, which would increase sales to some extent, even if software sales dont go higher, hardware ones do.
can you come up with some better stuff?
i hope im not coming out like a jerk saying all this. :)
