And if MS is willing to release a new version of their box only 2 years into the life of the console, what guarantee is there that they won't do it again (if I waited for the black version)?
as long as I can buy the 120gig hard drive separately and have a method of transferring my gamesaves from the 20 gig over, then I'm ok with it. I've got no use for HDMI.

You do know this argument is not a valid one, right? The very first price drop the PS2 did (maybe 12 or 18 months after launch) along with the price drop they also introduced a new model of the PS2. It looked just the same, but it was a missing a port on the back and the CPU was changed to all fit on the same di. People just don't remember because it's not a big deal. Also, this isn't confirmed by MS, let's not forget that gamestores all the time say they have things "in their system" that never get released. But even more importantly, is the fact that Sony has already announced a new version of the PS3. Yes. They are making a $2500, audiophile PS3 that will allow for connection to your sound system directly. Does this mean all early PS3 owners are owned as well? No. Because guess what? It's not a big deal. They're not including anything that will mess up the older version. The reason you'd pay now is because it has games on it that you want to play now. I had a friend that bought a Nintendo DS, less than a month before the DSL came out and he knew about the DSL and just couldn't wait that long.
^ Yes but the PS2 model featured no new hardware. I'd say the addition of an HDMI port, a larger HD, and enhanced cooling is a significant improvement over the original Xbox360 model (let me just qualify this. for ME! I actually wanted the HDMI port on the original) As for the audiophile PS3, I didn't realize that was an option. (Then again, $2500?? Are monkeys running Sony now??) In which case, damn both companies ;)
The only thing it's really got that's relevant is a bigger HDD. I have more than enough room to play my games on my Xbox 360 right now. Only if it had HD-DVD could they justify that price.
I don't believe this. Cows are claiming ownage, and 360 owner are crying ! Wtf ? It is NOT confirmed by any major gaming site, or Microsoft ! Until they officially announce it, i don't believe a **** of this.

You know what is funny? It's supposed to go on sale May 1, 2007. Yet Microsoft said nothing. If anything expect an announcement at E307 and release in Summer or Fall 2007.
I'm happy with my current 360. No need to cry about it like others. Revisions been in the news for over 6 months now. Don't say you didn't know.

I would rather have a black 360, simply because it would match my PS3, and Samsung HDTV better, and I would like to know more about the "new video interface" mentioned it that article, but I don't really feel "owned" for buying my 360. I don't have any more HDMI ports on my TV (one is for the PS3, and the other is for my HD DVR) I'm perfectly fine using component for the 360. the bigger hard drive is nice, but I haven't come close to filling my 20GB (mostly because I only use it for demos, and game saves. my PS3 is a much better multimedia machine.) I'm perfectly fine with my premium 360. I definitely don't feel as "owned" as I did when Nintendo released the GBA SP.

There are others out there (I'm included in this bunch) that wants the latest, greatest offering from a company. For instance, if I were to purchase a PS3, I wouldn't even consider the 20 GB model. Or if I were to purchase an Xbox360, I wouldn't even consider the core. And once I spend that dough, I expect it to be the best system that company has to offer for that particular generation. (Obviously, there are going to be some minor upgrades in later models or even cosmetic upgrades like Sony has offered.) But I don't believe any company has re-released a system with significant upgrades like the ones planned here (if the rumor is indeed true). Let me qualify that before people jump on me. The upgrades are significant TO ME. I don't care too much for the increase HD space but the HDMI output and the enhanced cooling is definitely something I would have appreciated in the original system. So yes, you can play the exact same games. If you don't have an HDTV or an HDMI-compliant HDTV, then you're not missing anything at all. Not really...I have one and I don't really care . I'm sure it will be more expensive and I don't have an HDTV so it's like the DS lite or the new I-pods.

Would you rather this launched 6 months ago for 600$? This may coinside with a price drop for the other models. The only people who need this are people who want to use the meadia features a tone.
I'm so pissed off! :evil: I was hoping for WiFi enabled, but it appears Microsoft too lazy to put something that people may actually WANT into it. Who needs another SKU? How's that going to help the gamers when the devs probably won't even use that other SKU? If this had WiFi built into it, i'd be tempted to buy it.

actually they do since I don't know anyone who's dissapointed with the 360 to date...If some movie buffs want I tighter picture than Zephyr is the way to go...I like gaming so my Xbox 360 is more than adaquate...

Judging by the repair posts in the Xbox360 forum, it's evident that there are plenty of people who would have appreciated that feature in the original system as well. all fair points, my good man. but no, the issue with HDMI was HDCP. the HDCP standards were not finalized until February, 2006. without the hardware stamp inside of everey HDMI-enabled piece of hardware, it will not sync with HDCP properly, resulting in the downgrade in resolution from 1080p to 480p+ for movies. that's the problem. it's a technical issue because of HDCP copy protection. :(

It's fine that they are releasing a new version of the 360, but really sinks my boat is that they could have alerted paying costumers from the beginning, or relatively close to launch of a revamp of the 360, instead of milking costumers, then BAM, a better version comes out.
