The "Xbox Surface" proposed specs look pretty good tbh.

It's supposedly two Power7 CPUs, each with 6 cores (which gives 12 cores in total), a custom AMD GPU based on GCN achitecture and full DX11 support, 5 gigs system RAM and 1 gig V-RAM, a 250 gigs HDD and a 7 inch screen capable of 720p.

I think people will be pretty shocked if this turns out true and the next Xbox will essentially be a Wii U but with considerably more horsepower.

Next E3 will tell.

At least they delayed it to sort the problem out and didn't just release it like they did the 360, this is a good sign that they are not prepared to put another unreliable console to market.

No issues for me as Ill have plenty to play with Halo 4, Bioshock Infinite and WiiU! Wasnt expecting the next XBOX or PS until a year from now at best and to be honest I think 2014 should be the launch period anyway. I mean MS would simply be dumb to launch a new console without the like of Halo 5, Gears of War and others. 2014 would make sense in the dev cycle.

At least this is being done prior launching of their product...

Hopefully the hardware issues with the next Xbox will go down from 33% to 32% :P

No way is this story true. Microsoft delaying something because the hardware quality isn't up to scratch? That's not the microsoft we know and love.

They won't, jumping to conclusions about RRoD V2 is more fun. That's SW for you! :)

Also, don't expect many here to know what wafers even are. I'd even take a guess and say some read it as waffles! :P

[QUOTE="charizard1605"]If they delayed the release, that means they DON'T want to release it in a shoddy state. Meaning there won't be any RRoD, because they'll fix it before they release it.

Good point.

It probably means yields are low , not quality but the article s written so poorly and by someone so uninformed it's hard to get any real information from it .

Remember the PS3 Cell yields where so low they had to deactivate 1 spu to get enough chips for production , it means that they are using powerfull, cutting edge technology and that's a good thing in the end when they get stable chipsets .

Better they do that now then later...don't understand why people would be complaining about this. So they fix an issue before one could possibly arise and you complain? Ridiculous.

Forget RROD v2.0, this time the 720 won't even boot up. Expect those faulty CPU's to be put in a less-than-bare-bones-SKU to rush it to the market.

Looks like Microsoft has finally learned if the launch is truly delayed, it took them 7 years but better late than never. You must learn to read, delaying production is not the same as delaying a launch. Knowing Microsoft, those faulty CPU's they spent money on...they won't allow it to go to waste. My bet is that they're going to put them in a cheap SKU you'd be hard-pressed to be able sell it to anyone with more brain cells than a street tile. The whole article does not even mention launch date, for all we know...those faulty CPU are intended to be faulty because Microsoft can get them at a discount from the manufacturer, providing higher profit yields on launch consoles sold. Their consumers accepted a failure rate of over 40% this gen, so this time they could get away with 20% and lemmings will praise them for lowering failure rates by half.

Have a free tin foil hat dude, talk about spouting completely baseless assumptions, and i think you should apply some common sense, they cannot release the console without the CPU's dude, if the CPU's are delayed then the console launch is delayed.

Both, HAlo 4 is a quality product and so is the 360 S, at least MS added features to the 360 with the latest model (wireless, USB Drive support, Full game installs, Extra USB ports, etc, etc) instead of taking them away.

PS3 didn't have a massive failure rate like the Xbox's. RRoD and other issues have an entire wikipedia page just dedicated to it due to how huge it was so it's only normal for people to have doubts about the next Xbox. Specially when it has been known that MS knew about the issues before launching the console and they still went ahead with it.

But I know you're just another tool that will try to spin this no matter what so who cares, right? So I'll just wait for your spin and laugh. :)

[QUOTE="DrTrafalgarLaw"][QUOTE="delta3074"] You can't pick both,...with Microsoft, the options are mutually exclusive.delta3074
Only in your deluded Fanboy mind, and by the way, you didn't even read the thread title properly did you? Xbox 720 RELEASE Delayed, so much for your rubbish that delayed chips don't mean a delayed launch eh.

This could mean delays in the Xbox 720 launch which may sound daft as we dont even know when its due in the first instance

Guess you didn't read the article at all...but it's ok...common mistake to only read the title.

ITT: Some people are utterly stupid.

BTW, the Cell processor had issues with low-yield rates.

I thought for sure Cows had gotten over the whole "jumping to conclusions" thing but this thread has proven me wrong...and then some. :(

If you saw what goes on with cars and regards to their problems, you'll never drive again.

Spin what? Did I say anything about the PS3's failure rate? Nope. You're the one who projected that onto what I said.

This whole thread is the result of you trying to spin the 720's possible delay due to a manufacturing defect as a bad thing when it shows that Microsoft isn't going to rush the product to market this time around. Get over yourself.

it's still jumping to conclusions and the wrong ones at that, logic would lead someone to assume that they don't want another PR disaster and will be more careful about there hardware. logc would also dictate that they have delayed the release to avoid putting a shoddy product to market, The Xbox 3660 was rushed to Market for the sole reason of getting the jump on SONY, MS doesn't need to do that now, they have no reason to rush a console to market this time and i am sorry But MS have released incredidbly relaible hardware in the past, the original Xbox was amazingly reliable, My kids still use my launch Xbox not so much as a DRE.

How did that have anything to do with what game said?
