but its not the same service. there are features available on that service that are not available elsewhere.[QUOTE="clone01"][QUOTE="kuraimen"] It is a service that is available elsewhere for free, like online connectivity. That's not opinion that's fact.kuraimen
yeah and again, I'm not arguing about those features but the online connectivity service.
but the features are there. you can't ignore that. if they weren't, your argument would have some validity.[QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="clone01"] and it includes other things that psn lacks, making that claim subjective. i don't know why you're still arguing this. you have zero experience with xbl, have not used the service, and have been repeatedly proven wrong, yet continue to make claims based on subjectivity and opinion. bottom line is this: xbl has features not available on psn: true is xbl worth the money for said features: completely dependent on the consumerclone01
Where have I been proven wrong? stop trying to convince yourself about that, it makes your argument weaker.
Bottom line is this:
psn has features not available on xbl: true
paying for a service twice is a rip off: fact
not if that service has features not available elswhere. if a car has power windows, would it not be more expensive? and drop the condescending attitude.
Maybe when you drop the whole "why are you talking about thing you don't know about" attitude yourself. I can buy the car without power windows which is a choice, with XBL you don't have a choice for online connectivity but to pay.[QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="clone01"] but its not the same service. there are features available on that service that are not available elsewhere.clone01

Cool. Still it doesn't change the fact that PSN has services that XBL lacks which was the whole point.but its not the same service. there are features available on that service that are not available elsewhere.clone01
you can cross game chat on PC. whether it's with xfire or a client such as ventrillo. For a lot of games with dedicated servers you get to play for free. The only exception would be something like MMOs. not available elsewhere? lol?
It's a third party browser. And it's superior to the PSN one.

you're required to have a PC in order to run that browser. The PS3's browser is standalone and doesn't require any external sources.

You are, and that's definitely a con. Still better than the PS3's browser however.

True, but this is a PSN vs XBL thread, not PSN vs XBL and PC thread. however if were including PCs (which you're doing) then anything on PC browser wise blows both PS3 + 360 away. The free cross game chat, free dedicated servers, free online play. XBL is the only service which requires you to pay to play online which is a MAJOR con, and the PC does everything the 360 does but better.
but to prove your point, what makes that third party browser superior to the PSN one?

Oh, didn't notice your edit sorry. And here it is - actual flash support.
[QUOTE="_SWAG_"]yes, for an annual fee.psn is better because its free and with psnplus you get free games
clone01
Not to mention its PS+ not PSN+
can you cross-game chat on PSN? the title of the thread pertained to xbl vs. psn, i believe.clone01
no, however I believe your comment stated that these features are not available elsewhere despite what the thread is titled, which is incorrect.

you're right in that it isn't available on PSN. But that's not what your comment stated. Now I'm not sure if you just weren't aware of being able to do so on PC, but be more careful with how you choose to word your statements. Be a little more specific.
Meh... I know that there are ALOT of fanboys on here who have never played on both services before so I'll answer honestly.
They are both practically THE SAME, minus a few party/cross chat options that LIVE has. There is really nothing else that seperates them.
Many fanboys are lying when they mention lag and servers as there are NO SERVERS (well there are BUT they are the minority on bothsystems)
There is NO reason for Microsoft to charge for LIVE, and it's wrong when it's all p2p anyway. Online gaming SHOULD BE FREE!
The only reason why they think LIVE is superior is because they have never used both services before.
Although I do think that LIVE hasa more talkitive community, is that worth the price of another game for?
[QUOTE="kuraimen"]] My argument is valid since my whole argument is that you pay to use online connectivity twice.clone01
no. you pay for the superior features of the service. if you actually used xbl, you'd know this. sorry, not a valid argument.
No if you payed only for those features then you would be able to play online for free without those features but you can't, therefore, you are paying for online connectivity.ugh, Xbox Live isn't Glorious....It's nothing special.
PSN isn't anything special either but at least it doesn't have a fee that restricts you from playing Online.
I think XBL is a better service, but I'm still not paying $60 for it. If I really have to play online for something, I will only pay for a months worth.
[QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="RoOodriGowW"]Eh you can make any number of profiles you like on a PS3 :| actually... i think the limit is 10 per console? but still.. 10 > 2 Oh really I have like 5 and my brother has a couple so I thought it was unlimited. Now what I meant is that : imagine you and your best friend playing killzone 2 , in the same console , splitscreen , each with their psn's.That sounds good doesn't it?Now either the ps3 can't do it , or the devs suck at knowing what we want and/or doing their job , cause the chance they had to do this in CoD :Black Ops , they screwed it.
I know I have a choice and that's why I don't have a 360 but that doesn't make charging for a service you already payed for again any less of a rip off.kuraimeni think the features that xbl offers me, which psn lacks are worth the cost. by stating that you think the service is a ripoff doesn't suddenly make it a fact rather than an opinion. and again, having no experience with the service doesn't exactly make you credible.
Xbox live has really started too tick me off. The fact that microsoft forces developers to charge for additional content what Microsoft wants them to charge started it, and its gotten worse with their $10 price increase.
Xbox live is a nice service, but their reasoning for charging is really getting me angry. They say they increased the prices because of features like ESPN or whatever, and Netflix, and other services, but I have no interest in PSN, and Netflix is both on Wii and PS3. Why can't silver users use netflix?
I understand its a business, but Microsoft is starting to tick me off overall. If PSN goes paid next generation, I hope they don't take notes from the Microsoft playbook.

PSN> XBL silver. you can play your game online with psn and text party/ cross game chat but not with XBL silver so thats a no brainer.
PSN+> XBL Gold. Gold does let you play your games online and has some communication features like voice party chat for $60 a year. PSN plus gives you content games, beta access, avatars and themes for $50 a year.
that about the services of live and psn
user interface is a different conversation. posters prove your comprehension skills when answering the question.

Well that depends on the devs then and not on the service since I can play Little Big Planet with my brother using his profile on the same PS3 any time I want.[QUOTE="kuraimen"] No if you payed only for those features then you would be able to play online for free without those features but you can't, therefore, you are paying for online connectivity.clone01you are paying for features that are not available on psn. again, if you actually used the service, you'd know this. i really don't understand why you feel the need to bash something that you have no experience with. Wow.... this topic again.
I prefer Xbox Live Gold. I like the party system, cross game invites, game launching... all without having to rely on a separate app. Community-focused events that are viewable right from the dash. Community staff that's much more responsive.
theres a reason i have a 360 but don't use it for live, i see no point in paying money just to play online, honestly silver members should be able to only have access to the online feature and thats it and gold members can have everything that comes with live. I like psn way better because i just put in my game and i'm already set, i don't have to worry about when i have to renew my service which is 60 bucks and people say you can get it for cheaper but i'm still paying money for it which i could use that cash for something else and if i'm out of cash for some reason i can't go online or do anything. this is just my thought on it, take for instance this black ops map pack thats coming out, you pay your 50-60 or 30 bucks whatever, then you pay for the game which was another 60 or 50 or whatever you got for it then your paying another 15, come on, you obviously paying waaay more for the 360 version of black ops. I'll just stick with psn which in my opinion is better. it does what i need it to do, just play games online and talk with friends, for free
