[QUOTE="clone01"][QUOTE="kuraimen"] No if you payed only for those features then you would be able to play online for free without those features but you can't, therefore, you are paying for online connectivity.kuraimen
you are paying for features that are not available on psn. again, if you actually used the service, you'd know this. i really don't understand why you feel the need to bash something that you have no experience with.

And you use services on PSN that you can't on XBL or maybe you're not aware of them because you don't use it? Either way the online connection is a service that you pay for to your ISP and shouldn't be paying MS again for it. That's what I call a rip off.

i'm completely aware of the features on psn. you see, i use both, and actually form opinions based on experience.

[QUOTE="kuraimen"] Oh really I have like 5 and my brother has a couple so I thought it was unlimited. It won't prevent lems to spin it to justify those $60 as worthy though even though it is pretty much a ripoff. So that means that if you have 3 people in your home that want to have a profile you need to buy 2 360s and pay for Live twice? pfft... Everytime I learn something new about the 360 it makes me want one even less :Pkuraimen

LOL I'm not a lem , if anything I'm a cow as I prefer my ps3 , but let me explain to you , in case you eventually get both consoles , like me , you can create a lot of profiles on the 360 too , xbox live gold is worth for all of them , be it 2 , 3 , 10...

Now what I meant is that : imagine you and your best friend playing killzone 2 , in the same console , splitscreen , each with their psn's.That sounds good doesn't it?Now either the ps3 can't do it , or the devs suck at knowing what we want and/or doing their job , cause the chance they had to do this in CoD :Black Ops , they screwed it.

Well that depends on the devs then and not on the service since I can play Little Big Planet with my brother using his profile on the same PS3 any time I want.

But they're both on the same master account aren't they?

Playing with my profile I can play together with my brother using his profile yes.

Good for you. You have to ask yourself why is Sony not charging for those features then? because maybe they are probably not worth the price. The only thing that is worth the price of Live is the online connection and that's why most people pay for it. If it wasn't for that feature most people wouldn't be paying for Live as most people don't pay for PSN+ on the PS3. Therefore the significant feature here and the one you really are paying for is online play which you ultimately pay twice for and that's a rip off. No matter how you try to pin it.

Because there's a big risk of alienating their fanbase. Unlike PSN, Xbox Live has charged for online since the moment it was released. Sony would gladly force you to pay them 50$ a year if they were sure it would work.

Well Sony is not ripping people off here but MS is. Until Sony starts ripping people that way I'll believe you and will stop buying their console.

You're free to believe whatever you like. I believe that a company is in a certain business to make profits, and would happily do something like charge for online if that guarantess extra profits.

Ask me the beginning of this generation when the PS3 wasn't even able to access the XMB in-game and I would easily say XBL was worth the $50.

Now, with XBL worth $60 and the gap between the two being much smaller and I have to say the PSN. The PSN still needs a lot of work done, but it's a better service for a better price

Well yeah many people scam other people to make a profit but that doesn't make it anymore right to do it or that means anyone will do it. Some people have better morals than others.

I have both an XBL and PSN account and while I think both are good services, I prefer PSN.

With XBL all I find useful is online gaming and the party/chat system, but with PSN I like the ability to watch BBC, ITV and Channel 4 programs whenever I choose - for free.

In any case, I think XBL should have a better system where you get to pick what features you want from XBL and those features are reflected in the cost.

Feel free to check out the thread I just made about the worth of Live without adding online play and realize that most people pay for online play and not for those features which makes it a rip off.

I'd rather use the word 'image' Sony has a better one and I think they are more respectable. MS charges from day 1 but there was no reason for them to up their price other than to simply make more off the new audiences Kinect brought in. I don't like what MS does and find that while they are making lots of money it comes at my expense

Compared to the features they brought in at the beginning of this gen and looking at them now they've advanced poorly. But so long as the PSN is where it is at MS really has no reason to go out of their way and offer any better since there are masses who will continue giving them profits

PlayStation Network (Regular) Does the same thing as "gold" (except xchat) for free.
