Xbox Live will always be a better online service than PSN.

Wait...so according to lems XBL is better because it has more features? Okay then. How bout this? PS3 IS BETTER BECAUSE IT HAS MORE FEATURES THAN THE XBOX360! According to lemming logic I would be correct. So what will it be lems?

OneLazyAsian

So XBL having more useful features can't be better then the PS3's totally useless features?

Useless? Who are you to determine what is useful and useless? I can say the exact same thing about most of XBL features. Twitter? Netflix? Who needs those when all I want to do is PLAY GAMES? Remember that line lems? That was the same line you pulled in 2006 when cows were claiming that the PS3 was a better value. What goes around comes around right?

Well played soldier, well played. What goes around comes around indeed.

I determine whats useful and useless by trying out both. Useless : Home , unless I want to watch the same video game trailer or immature kids trash talking via typing. Useless: The PS internet browser smattered on and clunky. Useless: the BD drive. I had a better stand alone BluRay player...

Its better in terms of features however PSN has proven to be equal if not, better than XBL as far as online gaming goes.

emorainbo
Yeah and the features are not really part of Live so PSN is the better service but M$ gives some high end features that make it a better package.

no no am sorry you determine whats useful & whats useless depending on which systems its available on..

If its on 360 its authomatically USEFUL

if its on PS3 its authomatically USELESS

And dont hide behind the usual excuse 'its my opinion', your post history is more than clear you are biased, so just say i am a 360 fan (which is understandable considering 360 has so many amazing games) and i have to justify paying extra for XBL..

Yet I've experienced both which means I do have the right to my opinion and most of the tauted extra features on PS3 are indeed unneeded and unwanted. If I'm wrong, then refresh my memory as to why the average consumer couldn't really justify a PS3 purchase until the Slim released and why people even still have XBL accounts...

of course you have the right to express your opinion, who am i to keep you from doing that :)

I dont want to seem bashing here, XBL is a great service i just am not that happy having to pay extra, thats all.. same thing with PS3 though i bought it at launch surely its price-tag was ridiculous and it disappointed me with the lack of games which only started to come out months later..

My point is I like playing online, so for me XBL & PSN are about letting me play online, i dont need a web browser or Home to do that, but in the same way i dont need Netflix, Facebook or else in-game cross chat... I can still enjoy the likes of Geow2, Halo, Forza etc online without those features.. so in the end i feel like i am paying extra for nothing, cause i can play online on all other systems for free.. thats my point!!

Nobody is denying the right to your opinion; people just don't take your opinion seriously when you are known to favor only the 360.This is the problem with hiding behind opinion-- you can safely bash the PS3 while looking like a victim if anybody tries to reason with you.

XBL's features are useless when you just want to play a game online, however, when wanting a well integrated online service that offers you bells and whistles, it is quite remarkable. When it comes to the PSN, it gets the job done with good extra features all for free-- and though its nothing like LIVE, it still gets the job done, and it gets it done just well.

dream431ca

Weaker servers...hmm....so dedicated servers are weaker than P2P?

Don't even bother , the lemmings will never beleive you.. as long as they are paying for it they will always say it's better.... no matter what. You could spew facts and links and show them a gazillion reasons why dedicated servers are better and psn is great and they will still deny it. They will believe what they want to beleive and it sucks becuase a large contingency of blind fanboys are out there who talk smack on psn and never even played it. They just know they pay for live so it must be the be all end all of online gaming.... lol...

I don't know I'd much rather have the free service with countless 1st party games that up the ante and push tech to the limit with dedicated servers and unique gamplay than rehashes of a story-less, faceless green space gobl..er..marine, who shoots cartoon scamps with pretty colored light guns as they taunt you in high pitched squeally voices.... You can keep cross game chat, it's not needed at all. People want it on psn so they can say they have it...but really you should be focusing on your game not talking to joe blow who is watching a movie while your playing a game... it's just dumb.. If I want to talk to someone I will use the phone or text message after the game is done. I can see how a few may like it but it's not for me.

Yeah, for 50 a year i should hope so. MS need to keep it the best online service if they want multi-console owners to pay for it.

Also, why do people keep saying. most games on PSN use dedicated servers? Only a bout10 games use them. as apposed to like 6 for the 360, it's not a huge difference.

As far as pure online gaming is concerned, they are equal.

Look at all the Lemmings desperately trying to justify their 50 bucks a month. Its sad really.

As far as gameplay goes the two systems are identical, however if it makes you feel better to think Live is better (when it comes to playing the game) because your paying the extra 50 then go ahead. The rest of us will just sit back and laugh.

It's a FAR better online experiance and setup. It's just the online gaming is the same. Depending on what you value more, it's either wort it or not.

I don't game online that much, yet i pay for Live as i enjoy the online interaction and experiance, which will improve even more with the community updates, like Facebook etc ...

Yes i know you have it on the PC, but you also have games on the PC, yet a lot of people own consoles.

To think about the long term costs that add up many users will pay more for online play than they did for the hardware entirely, to me that's just crazy. I still have to buy software and pay for internet access, I mean I love gaming but I don't want to spend money where I don't have to.

50 x 6 equals 300 (going by the standard gen lifespan (and thats being generous)) I dont see how they end up spending more than the console during the time frame that one has been paying for LIVE while having said console in their possession; even if they bought it day one.

I imagine many people will still be playing over the 6 year mark. Besides, the gens lifespans overlap. Hell many people have been paying for live since Halo 2, the money they have spent to play online could be a pretty nice library of games. And even still if they pay almost the same amount as hardware it still stands out to me, but that's me. To each their own, of course. Some people think video games are a complete waste of money and life.

Maybe get your facts right first? It's 50 dollars a year, I don't know how that's considered expensive? But anyway, TC, why did you even bother opening this kind of thread, let PSN players have their peace... if they love it, they love it, if we love Live, we love Live, One is better than another as long as you love it, no need to convince other people to feel the same. Again, I don't mind paying, since we get free demos for every game. Sony charges from the devs, so some devs refuse to put demos online, and that's just a fact. If you don't need demos, PSN is great. Every company needs money, Sony was just stupid not charging fee, not because they loved their gamers, I bet they are jealous of MS. Still, though, I don't see anything wrong with PSN, I personally prefer Live's layout and the way they build + connect their community, and yes, I don't mind paying if I can get all that demos. No need to attack others k?

and I just saw in another topic that, apparently, PSN users get a lot of spam mails/chain letters. I'm assuming people on Live get no spam mails, since my boyfriend has been on it for more than a year, never seen it happen. I'm not saying this to bash PSN, just saying that there is a difference between paying and free, like anything else in life.

The people who have owned their 360 for more than 6 years would most likely be looking into buying a next gen console.

Once they buy that new system the amount of money they have spent on live the previous gen stops adding up and starts to accrue onto their new console.

It would be highly unlikely for anyone to pay more for live than they did for the system itself.

Thanks for opening my eyes and reveal this obvious fact, you really ought to twitter it and tell all your facebook friends.

Whatever makes you feel comfortable to keep on paying M$ I guess.

Yeah man, facebook like who uses that CRap, pffts who cares for being social, i'll just spend my time in the basement. Oh also, enjoy your inferior online service with less demos, less content, slower downloads, less futures, silent servers, bad community. See? I can do that to.

Cross-game chat is the only seperating factor. Everyone having mics? Thats not always a good thing. I end up muting most the people with mics on XBL.

EDIT: Preventing double post.

Why does every PS3 owner want cross-game chat which most people on system wars who only owned a ps3 called the feature useless. That goes along the lines of trophies, in game xmb, custom soundtracks and a better interface for psn store. This is the type of stuff that kills me you tout features that psn didnt really even have until last year yet try to tell everyone that they are equal. THEY ARENT period. Everytime sony COPIES a feature from live its always half of what it supposed to do and not implimented well until they have another update for that update. Have fun waiting on cross game chat that will probably only work on new games same as trophies starting at the begining of this year.

Cross-game chat is damn near useless, but that doesn't make it any less appreciated by those who would actually use it. Custom soundtracks, meh. Better interface, that's an opinion. Many people (myself included) prefer the interface and user-friendliness of the PSN to the Marketplace. That's all opinion.

Copies something from Xbox LIVE? Are you insane? Just because you invent something doesn't mean you own the copywright to it.

What do you have to say about Microsoft 'ripping off' Sony and making a LIVE version of Home? Huh? Who steals now?
