Xbox One CPU 1.9 ghz?

SemiAccurate would be very surprised if it was 128b wide, wires are cheap, power saving areas not. Why is this important? Unless Microsofts XBox One architects are masochists that enjoy doing needless and annoying work they would not have reinvented the wheel and put an arbitrarily clockable asynchronous interface between the NB and the CPU cores/L2s. Added complexity, lowered performance, and die penalty for absolutely no useful upside is not a good architectural decision. That means the XBox Ones 8 Jaguar cores are clocked at ~1.9GHz, something that wasnt announced at Hot Chips. Now you know.

I will admit that the wording confuses me. Not sure what that symbol before 1.9 ghz means. Not sure if he's saying it is 1.9 ghz, or less than 1.9 ghz, hence the ? in the title.

But that transistor count doesn't tell you what is really inside,it is when you see the ESRAM that has 1.6Billion that you get why so many transistors,then audio block,DME,encoderd and decoders and all that crap add to that number.

Then you have the 15 proccesors,8 are audio the rest DME,econder decoders the same sh** again,which also sony has but that doesn't group like that because well the PS4 is not that weak and sony is letting the GPU speak for it self.

Then 47MB this is a good one that even confused posters like Ronvalencia into thinking it was 47MB of ESRAM,when in reality is 32MB and other memory like cache inside the CPU been also group together.

This ^^ is MS strategy join everything together in hopes of fooling people like you,the PS4 APU has less transitors yet is more powerful,BS MS spended their die on ESRAM,DME,Audio block and things like that.

I have not plans to get and xbox one,is not fanboysm it does't make sense to get one at $500 dollars and this come from a day 1 PS3 owner,which payed $600.

I have been a 360 owner since day 1,and the advantages the 360 had were clear,1 years early as low as $300 incredibly powerful,the xbox one is all the contrary same month as the PS4,more expensive and weaker.

Could be... But from all the reading I've been doing past 2 days, is that Xbox Ones CPU is 1.6GHz and PS4 is 2GHz base clock.

That means Xbox Ones CPU is 20% slower then PS4's.

Also PS4 uses a Co-processor and a dedicated audio processing chip.

Having read numerous articles about it now I'm convinced that memory bandwidth is not going to be a problem with Xbox One. Yes, it's DDR3 but they've supercharged it with a lot of custom hardware. At the end of the day bandwidth on these two consoles is going to be about the same, the way it works will be the thing that separates them. The damage the DDR3 does do, however, is that its inclusion is responsible for the weaker GPU. All that custom hardware on the die to speed it up resulted in less graphics processors on the die. So yeah, the GPU is weaker but bandwidth will not be an issue.

The internals are set up very smart for the X1. They have a processor for everything. We just learned that the sound has its own processor. Kinect has its own processor too! All this frees up the CPU. Did you know that Sony's Eye Toy runs off the CPU and chews up a tremendous amount of power? FoxbatAlpha
