The Neo is basically a PS4 Remastered console fixing everything wrong with the ps4.

While the Xbox scorpio seems like a whole new console generation it doesn't use ESRAM, Kinect, or most of stuff that was required for the XB1 will it even have disk drive I dunno man wtf is it?

As a ps4 owner if I upgrade to the neo I play all my ps4 games in the exact same or better quality.

If i upgrade to scorpio will all my xb1 run games run on it? Will they have to be emulated like the 360 games on my xb1 that don't even run good I have no idea how this works.

I haven't gotten crap out of my xb1...I play most my games on ps4 (which are mostly console exclusives like street fighter 5 rocket league and no mans sky and games I couldn't even play on XB1)

The exclusives have been miserable on xb1 its the worst exclusive generation of xbox and this is there worst console its a double whammy. They don't even want to get new people with a smash hit killer app game they just don't care.

I'm done with this brand there gonna have to make me care again with games like fable 1 and Halo 1 and a nice system to boot.

I'm gonna have to be won over (wooed) again like I was with xbox and 360 or im going neo and selling off my xbox ecosystem and never returning.

I'll be upgrading/building a new PC by the release... I'll only grab a Scorpio if they do end up having Scorpio exclusives.

Anyone who follows a brand from one console to the next is a fanboy, not a gamer and I wish them all the ill luck in the world.

I had 360 and PS3 last gen and loved them both. Xbox One has turned out to be pointless for me recently as I have a gaming PC so no longer need the Xbox One. For the same reason I won't need a Scorpio.

Xbox One owners who are pissed off with the way things have gone for them and who don't want to buy a PC should check out the Scorpio when it comes and decide if it's right for them or not.

PC, PS4, Neo, Scorpio, NX, whatever... buy the system that has the games you want to play with acceptable performance any decision based on anything else is just plain idiotic.

Well since MS abandoned exclusives and left SONY as leader from her on out and I got a great gaming PC, I'll still show my support since MS decided to do the right thing once and shit can Kinect, so I'll be buying Scorpio.

first things first, they announced a new console, now they need to announce a line-up

I know they're trying to say it just plays XB1 games on 4K TVs but if that's the case I won't buy a Scorpio, I'll just keep gaming on the normal Xbox One

Xbox Scorpio will run Xbox One games without emulation. ESRAM is logically treated like a small VRAM. From Direct3D12's POV, both PC GPU's VRAM and XBO's ESRAM are not directly accessible by the CPU.

There's API that covers ESRAM which can be remapped to another memory location e.g. GDDR5. Unlike DDR1/2/3/4, both GDDR5 chip and ESRAM has full duplex links.

http://www.windowscentral.com/project-scorpio-will-require-xbox-one-emulation

UPDATE 2: In a back and forth, Microsoft has clarified that while there is "some work" involved to ensure Xbox One games run optimally on Scorpio, it won't require any emulation. One could speculate that Scorpio will feature similar architecture to the Xbox One in this case, albeit with beefed up, 6 TF specs.

The main difference between DRAM based GDDR5 and "SRAM" is the electronic data refresh process and it's transparent from software's POV e.g. CPU's caches are also made from SRAM while DDR3/4 are DRAM based.

Yup, Hell yeah.

I was always big on Playstation, while you call XB1 useless, my PS4 has been the biggest disappointment of the gen, they are not even CLOSE to emulating the succesful games of the PS2/3 era.

PS4 is full of remasters, shitty indies.. and oh boring another uncharted. I'm debating selling it because it's collecting dust, but I do hope they release another Last of Us, because that game was great despite the floppage here at GS.

Scorpio, here I come.

Neo lost me with VR, that's gonna flop harder than steam machine.

I think your overall perspective makes perfect sense (that is, play the console that has the exclusives you like), but I'm not sure why you think Rocket League is an X1 exclusive when it came out first (and free) on PS4

So true. I was gonna at least use my PS4 as a paperweight, but the damn thing is so cheap that it doesn't even sit level. Damn thing wobbles constantly.

Yeah but doesn't the PS4k Neo seem like a slam dunk compared to scorpio?

PS4k Neo is just a better console and its just simple ps4 upgrade, im confused by the scorpio while neo feels like just pure upgrade and must buy for me.

The Neo might even be sexier than the ps4 and made of better parts, and have like a epic controller I just im diggin the neo im not sure about scorpio and im not happy with my xb1 but i was happy iwth my ps4 so like.

Seriously you don't want to put yourself in a situation where you have to actually think about anything causing severe brain hurt just buy the fucking Neo and tell yourself it's much better than everything else in the whole wide world.

Why are you so worried about Xbox?

Gamers follow games, not consoles.

Microsoft's Market Cap currently sits at about 453 Billion..........with a B..........and posted a 3.1 Billion profit.

XB1 games are on PC because thats where the market is going, doesnt mean anything if it lacks true exclusives.

Your obsession with exclusives is confusing.

Setting aside the fact that we don't actually know what either the Neo or Scorpio will be like for sure, what is more confusing about the Scorpio? Its a directx oriented, non-upgradable PC in a box. An "X" box if you will. All that we know about it suggests it will run X1 games just fine - what is the basis for thinking they will run worse on Scorpio than PS4 games will run on Neo?

Xbone Scorpio is just an Xbone designed for 4K.

It's an Xbone 4K.

It's just an Xbone with 4K designs and in another interview, Phil said if you don't have a 4K TV, don't buy the Xbone Scorpio, it's for that market.

Microsoft announced Project Scorpio, a more powerful Xbox One, at its E3 press conference. It supports 4K gaming, and Xbox head Phil Spencer said in an interview with Eurogamer that the console's full benefits can only be seen on a 4K TV.

"[If you own a 1080p TV] then you should buy [an Xbox One S], because Scorpio is not going to do anything for you," Spencer said. "Scorpio is designed as a 4K console, and if you don't have a 4K TV, the benefit we've designed for, you're not going to see."

Spencer added that you can buy the Scorpio, though you would need to "buy a 4K TV to take advantage of the increased performance." Spencer also talked about how the most powerful console isn't always the one that "wins," noting theWii's strong sales last generation.

Xbox clarified again for those that don't understand what the Xbone Scorpio is, it's never going to have exclusives. It's an Xbone 4K machine:

There's been a fair bit of confusion regarding whether or not the Xbox One Scorpio, Microsoft's major spec bump for the Xbox One that is launching late next year, will get any exclusive games or not. Some people within Microsoft are ruling out the possibility, while others say that the choice will be left to developers.

However, in an interview, Xbox head Phil Spencer has set the record straight once and for all-

there will be no Xbox One Scorpio exclusives.

"For you and I, we usually think about generations in terms of what games will it play?" Spencer told Eurogamer. "This thing will play Ryse: Son of Rome, a launch game for your Xbox One. And we'll have launch Scorpio games as well that are playable on an Xbox One, Xbox One S and Scorpio and look great on all three of them," he concluded, adding very definitively and explicitly that the Xbox One Scorpio will not have any exclusives whatsoever. "There won't be Scorpio exclusive console games. Absolutely not.

"When you're buying a console game from us, you know that console game will run on your original Xbox. No-one gets left behind. We said that on stage. Your Xbox One S and Scorpio. That's an important design point for us. They're all part of the same family. And we want to make sure just like when you're buying your music today, you don't worry about upgrading to a new phone that somehow won't play your old songs or your new songs. We think about your Xbox One collection of games that will move with you between those different consoles," Spencer explained.

So if you own an Xbox One already, and don't feel like buying another one- don't.

I unboxed and am updating my new Xbox One S right now. The thing is beautiful. I think this will keep me set on 3rd party for the rest of the generation. Scorpio doesn't matter to me right now. As it stands now the S is all I need. Plus I connected an old XBL account and just like that I already had 11 games ready for install. Its brilliant.

What's confusing me xantu is my ps4 got Rocket league first, it go no mans sky, it got street fighter 5, these 3 games i play more than anything on my xbox one and only got one 1 year late.

I've been unhappy with my xb1 more than any console, i don't like OS, i don't like the exclusives, I don't like the interface compared to my pc.

I'm just dissatisfied. It's like I bought something at a store I really like and hated everything about the product and I didn't return because I had hope and nothing ever came from it and now im still furious with the product.

And now they're putting out a "new" product after not making good on this one why would I jump in on the scorpio xantu?

Thanks for clearing that up. So it's basically the same as the Neo then? Only with 6TF vs 4TF.

Easy decision for me then. Scorpio>Neo.

@ProtossRushX: oh, well "why should I buy one if I don't like my X1 very much" seems like a tough question for MS to answer. But I reckon Sony has the same problem for folks who don't like their PS4s much too, after all

Not at launch. I'll be using and fully investing into my Xbox One for as long as the console can still run. If Scorpio does indeed garner Exclusive Scorpio games developed around the system's specs then very likely I'll buy one.

Right now, based upon other media gaming outlets, Prohect Scorpio is being dubbed as a VR 4K player.

@ProtossRushX:

The Scorpio is still an Xbox One so it's not an actually new gen console. Same with Neo. As far as following Xbox brand goes, I'm gonna skip on Scorpio and wait for the true next gen Xbox. If that doesn't happen then I guess that's it. If Microsoft stops with Scorpio then I'm pretty much all set as far as Xbox goes. They already stated that Xbox One Scorpio won't have exclusives besides VR games.

How so?

LOL it's a better console yet rumored to be significantly weaker than the scorpio? How does that work exactly?

So the NEO which is a pretty significant upgrade is pure while the Scorpio, which is also a significant upgrade, is confusing for you? The Scorpio will play ALL the games the X1 does as will the NEO in respects to the PS4. Why is the NEO just a pure upgrade but the Scorpio isn't? You literally make no sense

You're going full fanboy with that last statement.

So if you own an Xbox One already, and don't feel like buying another one- don't.

Thanks for clearing that up. So it's basically the same as the Neo then? Only with 6TF vs 4TF.

Easy decision for me then. Scorpio>Neo.

The Neo isn't actually announced at this time, so we can't be certain. I believe though that yes, it's the same as the NEO in terms of machine philosophy.

That said, I'm not getting the Neo or Scorpio. I don't care about either. I'm happy with my Xbone and current other machines.

You are right, if you are willing to wait to wait an extra year, you will get better hardware with the Xbone Scorpio.

Spit out my beer

Right? Remember when the X1 was a waste because it was weaker? Neo can be weaker though? LOL The spin is hilarious recently.

Setting aside the fact that we don't actually know what either the Neo or Scorpio will be like for sure, what is more confusing about the Scorpio? Its a PC in a box. An "X" box if you will. All that we know about it suggests it will run X1 games just fine - what is the basis for thinking they will run worse on Scorpio than PS4 games will run on Neo?

I still am not getting the "confusion". Reads to me like you know for sure that the Xbox isn't for you. What are you "confused" about?

I own a PS4, PC, Vita, 3DS, X1S. I play Alienation, MUA on my PS4 mostly. Rocket league is cool, but it coming out free on PS4 is old news and has no bearing on the Scorpio.

On my X1 I play a plethora of games with my closest friends. Halo 5, Gears horde with BC, Sunset Overdrive MP, FH2, Madden 17 and most of my games this gen.

On PC I play the Witcher series as I can port save files giving me a truly unique witcher experience among 150 more Steam games.

Do you know why? Because I want to. I don't need to justify it, it doesn't need to make sense to any numbnut cow here. Its my money, my time, my gaming, my life. Get over it. People like the Xbox. Go have a good cry if yo need to.

Haha, intriguing perspective "alt". You sure like that Goldenboy...nice connect thar. For the record, he didn't destroy me (I didn't even bother with a response to his babble), but I did destroy you after you rambled off topic and trolled in that thread. You didn't even respond then to the post, just like today.

Maybe that's why you have to create alts (and you are an alt as I know a lot about Random users hint hint), as you keep getting banned for trolling or something. Golden didn't like my response to your unprovoked bullying tactics and went full fanboy off topic mode for some reason. I was disappointed, but I know that cat well. As I said to others here, I was on RL vacation (away from you fanboys), but to be specific, Golden himself is not an alt (unlike you). That said, He's just as bad as you and a few other nutties as far as straying off topic, but with him it's a little more personal on his end, lol. He went off the rails trying to protect you (a troll alt...), and to come at me yet again, which was cute, but ultimately not worth my time. I play my xbone and have the gamertag and gamerscore to prove it (unlike you alts), as far as I'm concerned you are just another fankiddie cheerleading. That's fine, but stick to the topic.

I just let you parading lemmings go nuts because I don't care. GoldenElement on the other hand is a very special fella with an odd fixation and I've got the PMs to prove it. He has his own issues and that's all I'm going to say because this site is just one of thousands I visit.

You are an alt and a weirdo and we both know it. The thing is, I don't care, but when you see someone post about a topic and the post a mild post quoting the manufacturer, you go off topic and call them names? It's just lame and juvenile dude.

Try responding to what people post instead of going full fanboy in every thread. ;)

Most next gen console switch involves new CPU ISA supplier hence breaking legacy software compatibility. What alternative CPU ISA will fight the dominant ARM and X86 CPUs?

IBM PowerPC/Power64 CPU line is not competitive against Intel and AMD.

MIPS CPU line is not competitive against Intel and AMD.

Hitachi/Renesas' SuperH CPU line is not competitive against Intel and AMD.

Freescale's ColdFire (68K kitbash) CPU line is not competitive against Intel and AMD.

Both Intel and AMD has massive CPU patent land mines.

AMD ZEN will re-energize X86 CPU market i.e. competitive Intel and AMD X86 market smashed RISC CPU competition e.g MIPS, Alpha, PA-RISC, PowerPC, SuperH and 'etc'.

I like how you link this outdated shit everywhere

And yet the continued and deliberate fanboy driven confusion about the purpose of the Xbone Scorpio continues.

It's an Xbone for next year, designed primarily for 4K. It may have other modes, but it's still an Xbone. Just like the rumored Neo will still be a PS4 at the end of the day. Not interested in either.

In theory, yes, if this trend continues. It probably will, but at any rate I'm not interested in the mid gen consoles.

The machine beyond the Xbone Scorpio would interest me as it would have it's own identity and exclusive games not available on Xbone machines.

In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy my launch Xbone.

Our PC GPU price segment are in the minority.

Nvidia was desperate enough to get Nintendo's NX handheld console business.

Majority of PC GPUs are Intel IGP based with both AMD and NVIDIA in the teens market share.
