Â
Always online does not mean "always paying for XBL gold". Â And making kinect mandatory is an asset to devs and uniformity among the consoles. Â It
s kinect 2.0, it's uses are much more varied than last gen. Â Try looking at things 3 dimensionally, it helps.

Mandatory Kinect is the one thing I can't find a single good thing to say about. I absolutely hate, Hate, HATE it.
Â
I don't get it. Â It doesn't negatively affect you at all. Â It just seems spoiled when people say that.
Â
It's not that kinect is a bad thing. Â It's not. Â It's that it is not needed for gaming and only drives up the cost of the system. Â I'm not saying do away with kinect 2.0 I'm saying do away with making it mandatory. Â Let the consumer decide if they need it or not. Â That is ultimately the core problem with the Xbone. When just looking at the hardware it's a fine machine. Â The problem is MS is playing "daddy knows best" with all its restrictions and requirements. Â Especially when first announced. Â Even after they did the right thing and got rid of always online it's still a very restrictive device with things being forced upon that you might not necessarily want or need. Â You still need to have a kinect connected for it to work. Â You still can't upgrade the HDD yourself. Â No bluetooth kinectivity so you have to use whatever headsets MS aproves. Â Still don't know exactly how used games works on the system whether it's still restrictive or not. Â
All these things might not turn everyone away but each thing turns people away. Â To me I see now value in the kinect right away and don't want to pay extra for it. Â I have no choice witht the xbone because "daddy know's best." Â I would like to upgrade the 500GB drive to a 1TB drive that costs about $100 but I can't do that on the Xbone because "daddy know's best." Â I get it that a console is a complete package but things like this including the higher price for lesser hardware is the reason why I'm going PS4 first. Â It's the more open console. Â Not as many restrictions. Â
MS needs to get rid of the whole we and only we know what is best for the consumer attitude and give the consumer some more options and choices with their device. Â If they do that people will flock to them. Â They have the better launch line up imo, they have the better online service and the new TV intergration stuff is actually a huge plus regardless of what cows say, and the whole skype multi-tasking thing is also a great feature. Â They just need to realize that consumers like choices and the more choices you give them the more likely they are to buy your products.Â
