Why do cows keep regurgitating this same piece of info that we've know for weeks haha

Seriously, I know you guys like to hate on Xbox everyday but at least put the effort into finding a new 'problem' with it.

You guys sure love making big old mountains out of them molehills. I'd imagine if this was the case for PS4 it would be a different story.

No doubt. It would be "seriously, who buys a PS4 and doesn't have internet these days?"; they told you there would be a day one update. Did you think they'd message you and ask are you ready for the update?

Here's another thing, if you didn't have the internet, how in the hell would you know anything about either console to warrant a purchase? It's more than likely that you live in an area where a quick trip to Best buy isn't likely so by the time you learn about either of the consoles they would have already been released and probably patched already.

It's not like you are getting a preorder. If you know enough to preorder then you are probably aware of any issues.

Why would I use an Xbox One when it has most of the properties of a PC with none of the advantages?

I'm not understanding who the "market" is for this type of device.

I hope you're kidding. The market for this is the average, can use a computer, not build one, grew up with video game consoles, and likes the features kind of consumer. A lot of PC gamers just cant accept that it doesn't make a person stupid, or wrong, to not want to play games on a PC.

Plug-n-play was over when consoles started connecting to the internet and needing updates. I'm not sure how anyone expects this to come back. The PS4 will likely have updates at or soon after launch as well.

People who can't be arsed to bother with figuring things out themselves. So... a large portion of the gaming market.

Consoles haven't been stand-alone devices since the Playstation 2.

The Day 1 update is needed to get rid of the DRM the XB1 was originally designed around. The internet connection is needed just for the first boot up, not every time you boot up after the patch is applied.

But of course this is old news, and you already knew that, and just wanted to spin the information... didn't you Pinkie? ;)

$500 brick confirmed. They should at least post the update/patch online or ship it on every launch game disc or on a seperate disc. Is it that hard for a software giantto do this?

Also, Xbox One wont even boot if you don't have it plugged into an electrical outlet.

Damn MS, trying to screw us at every turn.

If you buy an xbone chances are you have internet. So I see this as no big deal,so what you have to get an update, big deal. Lots of products have to be updated day one.

Sums it up nicely. You got a day 1 patch with the ps4 as well, or otherwise you are missing out on some features. I'd much rather have everything on day 1. So if that means connecting to the internet, then I'll do it. Simple as that. If you don't have internet or can't afford it and you have a ps4 or xbox one, then something is wrong with that picture.

Or you live somewhere that has crappy connection or Data Caps and no your little buddies from the north are not a 3rd world country........

Seriously are you so arrogant to think everyone lives in citys with no connection issues?

That could be the case to. Seriously you need to get a reality check before you assume I assumed something. If those people have internet connection problems, it would be best if they waited on both consoles. Both consoles require a day 1 patch. Which that will probably be fixed with future shipments.

Pretty much this. Christ, how cheap is a simple DSL connection now? It's dirt cheap. You need a similar day one update to watch movies on PS4. For the few people who do have a Xbone, but no internet, strange as their priorities are, I'm sure that near term Xbone's will ship with this update already on it, and some games could come with the update on the disc. Christ, people who work at our store who are on welfare have at least DSL.

In Canada you're looking at 35-40 a month with a 20gig cap cheapest one for most of the companies even in city locations........

Im sure it will be online. You can already download console updates and update with a disc or USB on 360 and PS3. This will be no different.

http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system-updates/system-updates-info

The day 1 updates for both will be posted online. I dont understand the problem here.

If anyone doesnt have internet in their home, they could use an internet cafe, or even their phones to download the data and transfer to a USB or disc.

Well apparently you missed the memo that Sony will be mailing out discs for people with this problem, MS who knows I've heard nothing and I never assumed anything you just stated that If you don't have internet or can't afford it and you have a ps4 or xbox one, then something is wrong with that picture, without considering that there maybe other issues like living away from a city or living in Canada.

There's probably gonna be an early patch for the PS4 as well, it's very common for new hardware/software.

That's great and actually a good idea. At least they consider those people, which everyone should be considered. Who knows with M$ in all honesty. I said that because if you can afford to pay $400 or $500 for a console. You can afford to have internet, or even afford to upgrade your current internet if you have a data plan. If you have internet issues, it's up to the provider to fix it, but the provider won't do anything until you bug them. If you live in a location where that is impossible, I'd wait for the disc or until they are shipped with patch. What about future updates, that improve or add things? Those won't ship on a disc. So I guess that person has a lot more to worry about than this. If sony does a repeat like with the psp/vita/ps3. More specifically talking about the vita/psp feature, they could force you to have to update the system before you can access the psn store. If that sticks around, the person is even more screwed.

Well necessary system updates were actually located on game discs for the PS 3 so they might do that again and it's not an issue for a lot of people about being able to afford it's do I want to. Can I afford Rogers retarded

Ultimate Fibre

$225.99 /month1
or Bells
Bell Fibe Internet 175/175 $152.95 /mo.

And not have to worry about data caps much sure, do I want to %$#@ NO! I'd sooner flush my money down the toilet.

I hope they do, do that again. It would be much easier rather than having it on a separate disc.

Jesus, thats insane. With that pricing I expect internet speeds at least x3 or x4 compared mine.

I only pay $70 something for this. Well, I don't blame people for not wanting to pay a ridiculous price like that though.

You need the read the official Playstation release. There are a ton of features missing. Yes, you can play games, but only play games. Its not a big deal for me, but neither is the XB1 update.

I dont understand how your logic works.

Sure, everyone can play games day one, but the lack of features affects some people

Just like needing a connection affects some.

I really dont understand because everyone who was going to buy an XB1 has internet anyway...........since it was mandatory in the beginning. So people came into it knowing this anyway.

Not to mention that the update with be available for download online and you can put on a disc.

This double standard or contradiction makes my head hurt.

Its not a big deal for EITHER console.

Going by your logic, those PS4 owners who have no internet are essentially buying a single player only console?

The difference here is that you can actually boot up the PS4, access the UI and play games, without a connection.

On the Xbox One, it is mandatory to have an internet connection before you can fully boot the system and access the UI.

Going by your logic, those PS4 owners who have no internet are essentially buying a single player only console?

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/10/25/ps4-system-software-update-1-50-details/

The difference here is that you can actually boot up the PS4, access the UI and play games, without a connection.

On the Xbox One, it is mandatory to have an internet connection before you can fully boot the system and access the UI.

Did you read anything i just said?

Yes, I did. I'm talking about the average consumer here. To us, this is trivial, but many people didn't even pay attention to all the headlines during, or after E3. I am sure many will buy an Xbox One this holiday season and be disappointed. I am interested in seeing how this will play out.

Both require a day 1 patch. None of the PS4s features will work either without the update.

Research before you make another childish attempt at celebrating "bad news"

That's not true. You can boot up and play games on the PS4 without a connection. The 1.50 update adds streaming, remote play and party voice chat.

Wouldnt that logic also apply to PS4? Since that average consumer might think they can play blurays, record gameplay, etc......without a connection.

And if both companies have the update online for download............how is it a problem?

Sure, it is an small inconvenience, but still.....

The arguments represented on this thread are some of the worst I've heard in a while. You're complaining about the inability to play something without an internet connection, on the internet. Obviously, this doesn't affect you.

Chances are VERY high that people who are spending 400-500 on a launch console also have internet access. None of you have bitched when you had to activate your iphone to a computer with internet access. The PS4 also requires a day one patch to work properly. And a PC often requires you to download proper drivers the day you assemble it. Most connected devices now days require an initial connection.

But, yes, I know. This is just another reason why you're going to cancel your Xbone preorder and purchase a PS4 and PC (both of which will be connected to the internet at all times)...

Meet The Guy Who Got The Xbox One Early

From the Kotaku article:

"After hooking up the Xbox One and powering it on, Weingarten was prompted to connect to his home Internet, and then set up his Kinect 2.0. There didn't appear to be any way to back out of that. After connecting to the Internet the console began pulling down a 500-megabyte day-one update, which will be necessary to play games."

Since the out-of-box Xbox still has DRM enabled, you must have an internet connection to boot up. Then, you are required to download and install a 500MB update to get rid of it.

May seem trivial to some of us, but a large amount of customers are going to be confused by this.

Won't be able to play games out of the box? Reminds me of this:

REALLY OLD NEWS!! LMAO!! Where were you when the E3 happened?

You have to look at the big picture. The average consumer, not us. Isn't discussing the potential success of a platform part of what we do here?

There's probably gonna be an early patch for the PS4 as well, it's very common for new hardware/software.

You can't play Blu-Ray or DVD's without their patch at all. The system won't even play CD's or music files. Which is stupid since the PS3 & XBox 360 can.

Also, Xbox One wont even boot if you don't have it plugged into an electrical outlet.

Damn MS, trying to screw us at every turn.

Now this is as stupid as comparing live fee with an electricity bill..lol

$500 brick confirmed. They should at least post the update/patch online to put it on a usb stick, ship it on every launch game disc or on a seperate disc. Is it that hard for a software giant to do this?

Im sure it will be online. You can already download console updates and update with a disc or USB on 360 and PS3. This will be no different.

http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system-updates/system-updates-info

The day 1 updates for both will be posted online. I dont understand the problem here.

If anyone doesnt have internet in their home, they could use an internet cafe, or even their phones to download the data and transfer to a USB or disc.

Is very simple online require was drop because people complained for that same reason not always there is an online connection in homes, the xbox 360 alone show that a great portion of the 360 user base didn't even took their console online from live 46 million users half a silver half gold, and that numbers is little over half of the entire 80 million user base so yeah by the 360 alone a sh** ton of people didn't even took their console online to create an account.

Again playing games on the PS4 is possible and your requirements or needs are not the same as every one else, there is a huge section of the console market that still play offline and a ton of people without internet to.

@blackace said:

It was know that the console need it and online patch the part where is useless without the patch is new since people believe it that the console would work for 24 hours and after that is that it would require the patch.

Is not that way the console doesn't allow you to even set it up which is way different.

Which make me wonder, why the hell do they do that? "ok lets cut off some essential features so that we can add it later on, in case we run out of idea for future update", make no fvcking sense.

Damn, I have an Xbox One on pre-order but I don't have internet where I live (just moved) and won't have for the next few weeks, so that means I won't be able to play my beloved Forza 5? :(

I guess I'll cancel the pre-order and get a PS4 with Drive Club then, I prefer dynamic weather effects over pre-baked lighting anyway.

Edit: I just came from my local gamestop and tried to cancel my Xbox One pre-order, they didn't let me because they still have a few thousand Xbox One's sitting on the shelve that no one wants and sadly the Play Station 4 is already sold out in the whole country, damn, FML!

Do you have an Android phone? You can set up your phone as a Wifi hotspot and connect your Xbox One to that. After the 500MB update (may take awhile on a mobile network), you can play your games.

Edit: This post is fake, isn't it? Lol.

Thats BS. They wont let you cancel? If you are going to lie, and least make it a good one. They cant FORCE you to buy anything and have to give you your money back. Getting a PS4 is a different story, but thats BS that you cant cancel. And they are still preordering on Amazon so.....
