Xbox Was the Best Selling Console in the US in 2018 Confirmed by NPD Analyst.

This was confirmed by Video Game industry NPD Analyst Mat Piscatella, saying that Xbox One was the best selling console, in the US for 2018. Both in sales and in growth.

Unless xbox March sales are extremely high, this comment seems a little strange because ps4 beat xbox in both January and February. But w/e.

What are the numbers for March?

Sales and unit sales can be two separate measurements.

• Dollar Sales = dollar amount total , revenue
• Sales - depends on the context.
• Unit sales = number of consoles sold

So

• Dollar Sales = Xbone's
• Sales = Xbone's , context is dollar sales in this case
• Unit Sales = PS4's

Can be the same thing , like in this case. It depends on the context. He's also on record saying the PS4 is #1 in unit sales for the year so far. So sales = revenues in the context in the OP.

Best performing in sales and growth, not actual units. PS4 is even-ish, Xbox sales are way up from this time last year. Due to a combination of X1X and deep price cuts to the base model.

Performing means its growing while PS4 sales are declining. In overall sales though the PS4 is still winning for the year.

World wide PS4 is winning in unit sales by a bunch.

US Xbox unit sales are only like 10-15% behind PS4.

Cows on this forum would have you believe, thread after thread after thread, that Xbox is failing, but its clearly not doing bad at all. Its still behind but month to month sales in the US are ok.

I'm just gonna come and say. I'm glad the big 3 is doing fantastic this gen and that's what matters in the end.

You have said it yourself. Xbone is expensive than PS'4. Unit sales belong to the PS'4. What are u trying to get at, cos as far as things are, the ps4 is more popular. Sure the Xbox has great hardware but its the least favorite of the top 3 platforms as most games on it are available on the pc (ultra settings, real 4k and all). Any wise gamer would first buy Either a PS4 then a PC or vice versa before considering to buy an Xbone as it is the one that's slacking in good exclusive games right now, with the exception of halo off-course.

What were u trying to get at? If the Ps4 sold more units, Sony will eventually make more because of its partners and the exclusives, when people start buying the games. Xbone is the console that doesn't know it's already dead cos MS is lazy and expensive for nothing more than hardware that isn't even utilized on anything significant. Hell, some PS4 titles look better on the weaker hardware than anything on Xbox One. Let's face it, Xbox is a lazy show off that doesn't deserve the support it gets and i bet Xbox fans are some real frustrated gamers these days :D

I can buy it, the XB1 and PS4 are most closely matched in US market, and they had some success with PUBG and surely Sea of Thieves probably sparked an interest in the system. Probably helped it edge out just a bit, just as surely God of War will swing momentum back in Sony's favor.

But like I've said before, I don't think it matters what MS does at E3 this year... it's not going to be enough in a lot of peoples eyes (ie. PS fanboys, some in the media).

So it's 1) the best performing, not selling and 2) 2018 isn't over yet.

Good news for Xbox though, that they're finally seeing some growth on their home turf.

Certainly better news but the PS4 has dominated and ms can't be happy with how things have gone. E3 will show where they are and where they are going.
