Xboxers, How are you able to stay the course?

First, let me say this. I have the Xbox One launch edition on preorder and I do NOT have the PS4 preordered in any way shape or form. You can look at my recent post history and see that I am for the Xbox One. With that out of the way, here is an honest question. Are you concerned with the COD announcement. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think going from 1080p to 720p is a deal breaker however, to those of you that are more technologically gifted then myself, is this a sign of the Xbox's inferiority or is it just something to do with an "outdated dev kit" that I've been hearing about. It would be much appreciated if this were explained a little. If I am paying $100 more for a console, this COD thing better be one time. If this is something we can expect in the future from now on, well I'll punt a poor defenseless baby seal

Well for one I am not some loser low-life who's life revolves around counting pixels and trolling game boards. And knowing Forza, Dead Rising, KI, and Crimson Dragon are day one makes it the better deal
I am getting a PS4 as well. But other than Killzone SF, It is gonna set there with the power off.

PS4 has better RAM GDDR5 and 150% more powerful GPU, so of course games will be better made on PS4. Xboxers will be Xboxers no matter what.

@WadeFan: I really think that the "outdated dev kit'' didnt help and dont forget that infinity didnt use the esram on xbox one because they didnt have any time to play with it. their were busy to port cod gost on every systeme. t if the xbox one cant run the next COD at 1080p now we will have a problem! but anyway enjoy titanfall!

If Forza 5 is 1080p doesn't that tell you it can do 1080? Come on guy, you got a brain. As for one time, 100 times, is this that important to you? U ask how can we stay the course? because I only like KZ as a launch title from 4. That's why I'll wait. One game wont do it for me. DR3, Forza 5, hopefully Ryse, all the features, then Titanfall? Yeah I'm good with upscale. I'm a 41 year old veteran, I cant see the difference anyway, so why should I care?

The GPU is 50% more powerful. But, the extra bandwidth of the GDDR5 memory does help keep the GPU very well fed, so the difference may indeed be bigger in the end...

The resolution thing doesn't bother me one bit. You have to be looking hard and nitpicking to tell the difference.

na, don't bother me. More about gameplay all the way. I also have a rig, Even though i could max out any game last gen i still played games on my 360. I believe the res thing is part of the rumors that there is driver issues and ms tools isn't where it should be yet.

Its about the games, period. Thats why I buy all the consoles(though pc gaming is my main). The xb1 has enough unique games that I want to play that I value owning one. I have both pre-ordered and I am much more excited for xb1 early on than ps4. That could change down the road, well see.

You really think the PS4 is powerful? Both consoles are weak and to say something as asinine as "you're afraid devs will take and ideas out of their games because X1 isn't able to run it". The One will run ANYTHING the PS4 runs even if it's not at the same graphical fidelity as the PS4. Take your head out of your @ss for once.

Every game review is going to be a reminder of how weak Xbone is, beatdown after beatdown after beatdown...... I hope you guys have strong resolution

Xbone is not worth the purchase to me at this point sadly. I'll wait till enough exclusives are out that appeal to me before I buy it.

If your an xbot then all you know is what you have and you won't even see the better graphics on the ps4 so why care ??

Same way as I have since I preordered. Knowing I'm getting the games I like, improved Kinect, and a host of multimedia features. Then MS confirmed the 300k+ servers for free use by any dev and the more detail on cloud assisted AI, etc. I maintain that if i'm going to spend the money on a new console, it should offer more to me than the last generation aside from resolution or graphics.

the thing that sticks out to me with most of the people that are still going to but the X1 is they are doing so because of the games and its funny because so many people said it wasn't focused on gaming at all. Like the previous posters Im getting the Xbox one first because I can wait until better games on ps4 come out and the res of games I will likely get like COD don't really bother me as long as it looks good. I never in my life remember thinking I wish this wall had better textures or I wish these trees had better color.

LOL!! No. By the time E3 gets here almost all of XBox One games will be native 1080P @60fps or 30fps. Microsofts biggest mistake was changing their hardware so close to manufacturing it. Because it was so different from the original hardware developer had no way to fix the games use the extra features and power of the updated devkits. Developers either threw their hands in the air and said screw it, will leave the game the way it is or patch it. That's why we are seeing large patches for BF4 and most likely CoD: Ghost. There's a reason the BF4 720P looks better then the PS4 1080P. This is why people usually WAIT before buying launch titles.

Considering COD is pretty much the only title pushing units on Xbone I can see why alot of pre-orders are cancelled or in question right now.

There's no other way to say it.. The console is weak. Never in history has a "patch" of some sort been released on a console after launch to give it more power. That's ridiculous to even think about. The hard is what it is.. for lack of better words, Deal with it.

Some of us aren't. I've owned Xbox and Xbox 360 and haven't had a Sony console since the original Playstation. But that's about to change. Xbox One is just too weak to be acceptable to me. Heck, even PS4's specs bug me. Both should have been 2.5 tflops minimum considering where graphics tech is right now. The next Xbox being only half of that is ridiculous.

Ah no it's definitely not on. I've owned an XBox and 360 but can't see myself buying the One.

I had a Xbox one, day one pre-order.

After the resolution showdowns i now have a PS4 on preorder.

It is simply not worth getting the console as it now shows how big a gap there really is. I will not be playing neither COD nor BF4 on a console anyway, but it is a clear sign of what we can expect from future games on the Xbox one and being a nit picky PC gamer i could not accept any less then the best.

Lems have already made excuses as to why their version of cod has a lower resolution. They are using the "just wait, it will all get better in the future" approach for now.

I expect tons of people cancelling their X1 pre-order (I just did) and go with the PS4 only

How many exclusives came out for the 360 this year? You X-Box only gamers are like little woodland creatures that are being starved into the next habitat. Have fun with that.

Yes because faster ram and marginally better graphical potential is like a whole gen difference in itself.

I've never claimed it would make games run in higher resolutions. In fact, I think it is mostly helpful to online play. You can already voice control your tv? That's pretty cool. You already get picture in picture on it too? I must be shopping at the wrong stores. You Skype on that tv too? Oh wait, your tv, pc, blu ray player, etc has a camera and can be motioned controlled too?

And hopefully devs will start to utilize the Kinect more and more since everyone will have it. That will undoubted provide improved gameplay and immersion. Meanwhile, you'll be playing with your ps4 like you played with your ps3, ps2 and ps before that (assuming you are old enough). Just more offered on X1 and there is no arguing it

@YD_11: Cows are hilarious. This is going to be fun. The PS2 was weaker, yet cows never complained back then. Too funny. In any case, it's only a matter of time. PS4 launches first, so it will be the first to see if any of the rumors are true. I'm stopping at Gamestop after work today to see if the PS4 kiosk are in yet.

It really doesn't matter to me. The games from the original Xbox, Xbox 360, and One have always been more appealing to me. I'll get a PS4 as well, but I've just always preferred Xbox and the fact that a Call of Duty launch game is running in 720p is definitely not a deal breaker. I've prepurchased COD for PC anyway so this isn't going to affect me personally. And there's no reason for PS4 fanboys to act all high and mighty about the fact that they can play COD in 1080p. You've been able to play any PC game in 1080p for the past decade and can play them in even higher resolutions now. I have my PC connected to my TV and when sitting at a distance you really can't tell that much of a difference between 720p and 1080p when gaming. The difference is not that noticeable. And again, it's just Call of Duty. I'm sure COD 2014 will be in 1080p on both consoles.

Additionally, when the PS3 launched all of the games looked like shit compared to a lot of 360 games out at the time like Gears of War. The PS3 also claimed that a lot of games would be able to run in 1080p but that was only the case with a handful of mostly PSN games like Wipeout HD, which was not noticeably different than anything I played in 720p on the console

For those getting the X1 I'd be more concerned about games. Yeah they got launch games - but then what? It's not likely MSFT will keep up this level of support.

Timbers summed up my stance pretty well. I don't really care for COD or Battlefield though. I'm more excited about Titanfall and Destiny for my shooter needs. Shooters are not the reason I buy consoles though, racing games are. As long as Forza is on the Xbox I'll be playing on an Xbox. Got FM5 coming this year, and most likely a new Horizon game next year...I'm happy.

The suckyness of XB1 hardware and PS4 library have convinced me to spend the next 2-3 years PC gaming.

Cuz we have, you know, a library and stuff.

And I'm not a graphics whore by any means, but 1080@60fps is kind of "plain vanilla yogurt" nowadays, 720p/30fps is just substandard.

If I bought a XB1 at launch, what would I gain from that?

A downgrade from my aging rig.

I figured that there was still some unlocked potential in the console, with it having the tiling hardware and all. But, it looks like somebody screwed up. The on die eSRAM limited Microsoft's GPU options while also proving much less capable than one large pool of GDDR5..

Microsoft should've made the console powerful enough to handle 3D displays like the Oculus Rift, or made the Kinect optional until the following generation. IMO, Kinect won't be of much use for games until display technology catches up...

Not really. Game reviewers may or may not choose to dock the Xbox One version for not looking as great s its PS4 counterpart. But of the game gets a ranking of 9 its a great game even if its a 8.5 for the One. If its a 5 who gives a shit if its 1080p or not. Not all of us gamers live and die by whats said online. Whether its a good day for the console of your choice or a bad one, who gives a crap. We're all gonna play what we like anyway.
