The Wii audience is mostly casual, but not completely casual (core games named Mario and Zelda don't have a problem selling) so perhaps the problem isn't the unwillingness of core gamers to buy a system for a single game (?!), but the unwillingness of the core gamers who own Wiis to buy anything which falls outside of a tiny handful of franchises.

The Wii arguably has the most core, niche franchises out of any of the consoles -- it also has the most exclusives, there's enough content for people to try out on the Wii that fit 'core' experiences.
This is just a common thing I see among System Wars/core gamers in general. They're wondering where all the motion games are on PS3 with move when they have a console with arguably better motion controls and motion games already waiting for them for almost the same price as Move and a game. It's baffling that people are unwilling to buy hardware because they're too loyal to one company.
That's extremely arguable. Most third parties don't make core games (niche or otherwise) for the Wii, either at retail or via download. As for the most exclusives, sure, but only if one factors in casual games.
As for people complaining about a lack of support for the Move, I don't know what people you're talking about, but my problem with the Move is that it hasn't really been used well for much besides shooters, virtual pet games and minigame collections. The state of motion controlled gaming is no different on Wii (or the Kinect for that matter). I don't know what other Move owners are looking for, but I'd love to see a really great strategy game which used the Move (Under Siege doesn't qualify). This disappearance of Sorcery is also troubling.
Happily, I strongly suspect my Move usage with shoot up 1000% once the LBP Move pack hits.
