Only if you have absolutely no clue that PC gaming exists and is superior in almost every way to consoles.

Your CPU's good enough, TC. Get that powerful video card so you can be ready for those sweet upcoming DX10 games, which will blow away anything on either the PS3 or 360. I have an 8800 GTX and that thing owns souls.

If you can seriously afford buying a 8800 ultra without making a hole in your pocket.. Then you could just aswell buy the ps3 aloong with it.. (No sane person in the world would buy a 8800 ultra instead of a 8800 gtx if he isn't insanely rich..)

This is sad but true, and I'm a 360/PC gamer, though I got the 360 several months beforehand. It's true that if you have a high-end PC or will have one soon, then yeah, the PS3 is probably a better alternative than 360. But ONLY because like he said, most 360 games do/will end up on PC, and usually (but not always) in superior form.

Get a GeForce 8800 GTX, bank the difference between the Ultra and the GTX, and get a PS3 in early 08.

Then again, this might be your only chance to get the EE in the PS3, so that's a consideration.

You'll probably need a new power supply, too. The Corsair ones listed above are great choices.

In what way are consoles superior than a high-end PC, pray tell? The price? You can do everything on a PC than you can do on a console, right down to hooking it up to an HDTV w/ surround and an Xbox 360 controller and sitting on your couch, gaming. A high-end PC is just a vastly superior and versatile piece of equipment. It just is. That's also why I've said in the past that while I understand the whole "multi-platform" deal and the PC being a platform, it still doesn't really belong in System Wars. I made the analogy oncethat it's like introducing a spaceship into an argument about the nicest car, and I think that fits.

Save your money. Get an 8800GTX instead. Or a PS3. You're gonna have to decide for yourself there. Depends entirely on what kind of games you prefer.

Thats rich. Someone doesn't know that we have the most announced exclusive titles, a wide variety of games, and the most annually released high quality titles. Crysis is just the cannon fodder we're using right now. Would you rather us load our guns with The Witcher, Starcraft 2, Dead or Alive Online (PC exclusive), Hellgate: London, Sim City: Societies, etc?

That would just be mean. Crysis is more than enough for proper ownage, which is funny, since it's only one game. And since that's all that's needed around here, that's all they think the PC's got. Hilarious.

The consoles may have most of the fighting games and the platformers, not to mention all of those sports games, but hardcore vehicle simulations are strictly within PC territory. (By "hardcore vehicle simulations" I mean titles like GTR2, Falcon 4.0, Steel Beasts, stuff like that which all put realism first. I've heard that sims like GTR2 make Gran Turismo and Forza look like arcade games, and there is no such thing as a hardcore flight sim or tank sim on a console.) Also, the PCs get the better end of the deal in FPSs and ESPECIALLY RTSs. RPGs are a bit debatable, given that PCs tend to offer games more along the lines of Ultima, Wizardry, The Elder Scrolls(okay, Morrowind and Oblivion have console versions), Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, Fallout, Anachronox, etc., while consoles tend to lean more towards Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Seiken Densetsu/Mana, (Shin) Megami Tensei, and other various JRPG series. Both styles are too different to compare. Overall, I'd say that the PC is more varied than the consoles, though not by much. Those genres that the PC is deficient in at least have a few titles on the PC and other computers, whereas I still have yet to see much in the way of hardcore flight sims on consoles.

Superior how? The games.. simple as that in my case. You might not like them, but I happen to love console games. And I wasn't refering to the Hardware, of course PC hardware is superior - that doesn't matter to me, 360 and PS3 are very powerful console fully capable of delivering for years. My PC is around for more than gaming, so, I'll always have one... but the gaming on PC will never reach the consoles in terms of sales, and IMO quantity and quality.

Don't get me wrong however - Crysis is one of my most anticipated games, without a doubt.

Im in the same position.I dont know if I want to just build a PC or get a PS3,I already have a 360 and most of the PC shooters are going to 360,and I dont like RTS's,so why spend the money? But then again,PC is "better" for shooters due to mods, but 360 shooters can be "funner" due to friends on Live.So I wonde,if I were to get a PC then which should I get this multiplat game for,PC or 360?PC->mods,360->friends.Then the PS3 has a nice line-up...such a hard decision.I say just save your money.

If you have the money, Playstation 3 for a xpanded game library. Then later get a 2nd or 3rd gen dx10 card. You pc will probably be able to play crysis as it is and as long as you get a steady framerate, the visuals will not make crysis more enjoyable to play.

The 8800. Except, get a GTX instead, the ultra is far pricier but it has only a 10% boost in performance which you can squeeze out of any GTX with a little bit of overclocking. Or wait for the 9800 to be released this fall. :)

For one thing, it depends on the motherboard your compie is using.  If it's using a  7300 right now, it may be that it only has one PCIe slot.  An Ultra requires two.  That right there would not allow you to buy one without swapping out your motherboard.  Another thing is that you'd surely have to buy another power supply.  I'm guessing your power-supply is about 300 Watts.  That is most definitely NOT sufficient for an 8800 Ultra.  It needs -at least- a 700 or even an 800 Watt power supply easily, and those can run you up some $200+.  The more I look at your comp, the more it looks like you need an absolute renovation.  And that's not even considering the size of your monitor... unless you already have a 26"+ monitor, you are WASTING that GPU, and 26" monitors cost $500+.  To get the most out of it, you'll want a 30", which easily run you up $1,000 dollars.  For all the parts you'll need to either get your GPU working or get the most out of it, you may as well buy a whole new computer.

If you don't mind this, then the 8800 Ultra is easily the way to go.  I have a 8800 GTX myself, and it is absolutely amazing.  Completely blows the **** out of my previous 1600 XT.  However, if you aren't willing to spend at least 300 (if your motherboard isn't equipped.  If it is, then the price becomes about 200) to get it working and another $500+ to get it running optimally, then you should get a PS3.  And that's not even taking the size of your comp case and if you necesitate more fans or liquid cooling into account.  Buying a GPU isn't as simple as just slipping it in; you need all the rest of the components.
