[QUOTE="eboyishere"]

[QUOTE="DarkLink77"] That's what stopped me from playing it. I refused to pay for map packs and eventually I just couldn't play anymore because I didn't have them. :( Out of the MP in the 5 Call of Duty games I've played, WaW's was one of the two games I actually enjoyed.DarkLink77

Yea definitely it felt a little more well rounded, hell even more the mw2. Then it pissed me off that 3arc got rid of the coop campaign, but atleast they kept zombies.

Though i dont like how they spam map packs to the point you cant even play a game but, whatever.

Yeah, and they got rid of War, too. That was my favorite game mode. :( If I didn't have to deal with that, I would still be playing World at War online, honestly. :P

god i miss war  they said it wouldnt "work" in black ops. It stung bro...it stung :(

CoD fanboys who think they're game is actually good annoys me to the point where I honestly consider just ending my life.

Shoaka

Agreed whenever I hear about someone enjoying something I don't I go into a deep depression. I mean we live in a world where people enjoy COD, is this really the kind of world we want to live in?

Heh, I remember my friend saying he was going to buy Black Ops. Later that night I swallowed 20 cough drops, didn't kill me but in the process of trying to swallow 20 cough drops I choked and fainted. I can't imagine what bodily harm I will inflict upon myself once MW3 releases.

I shouldn't bite but whatever.

COD having more fans than other games does not mean it's "more fun". When something has a large fanbase that usually means it appeals to a wide variety of people, somethings popularity depends on a few things including how broad the appeal is.

For example pop music is very popular? You know why? It's easy to listen to, your friends listen to it, you don't need to go out and find it, and it has a formula that most people enjoy. That does not make pop music the best kind of music, it just means it appeals to the most people and it's the largest.

Yangire

OK, let me put it in this way:

more people think COD is more entertaining to play than anything else.

And please, don't bring music into this, you're embarrassing yourself.

Sure, but the problem was you saying it's "more fun to play" than anything else because of that. I brought music into the conversation because it was an example like I said. If you weren't getting what I was saying I expanded it into another entertainment medium so you could follow me, it's not hard to understand.

If it wasn't more fun to play than any other shooter, I'm sure some of the many millions would have switched, period!

It has been mentioned many times. People love it because it is easy to play. The game strokes their egos with killstreaks and various other statistics. There is little emphasis on teamwork. For people who don't have very much time to game, CoD is the perfect game. You can play it for twenty minutes and feel as if you still achieved something.

This made me laugh due to the masses of people who have told me CoD has become too repetetive and dull to be interesting to them anymore. These have been coming to me since a week after Black-Ops was released.

The first option is the one I chose. Some games are better than others in the series, but it's really just a mediocre series.

It's simply so geniously created, that there will always be more joining than leaving, and this results in COD growing and growing all the time... No stop.

Not necessarily. Have you tried ARMA? Takes ages for you feel as if you achieved something. That game sucks out all of the fun of a video game and replaces it with the frustrations of being a soldier. The reward comes in the end.

It's a good game but it's overrated. I wouldn't consider it the "best FPS ever".

So let me ask you; if people had more time playing video games, they would rather choose Arma instead of COD?

So during vacations, people take forth ARMA and during weekdays (school, work) they play COD?

Call of Duty 1 and 2 are great, 4 is also very good. CoD 3,5,6,7 sucks, unbalanced, broken mess.

Call of Duty 1 and UO were great.

Call of Duty 2 was still great and had the best multiplayer of all the games.

Call of Duty 3 was good. It looks like it used a different engine but I'm not sure. I really liked the look of the game and the multiplayer was fun too with 24 player battles.

Call of Duty 4 was fun for a while but then I got bored of it.

Call of Duty 5 was fun for not that long and I haven't bothered with CoD since.

eboyishere

weird, cod5 was never released. and WaW/BO/MW2/MW3 are not cod5.

it's still known as cod5...after MW2 the numbers were gone.

achieve what? its a freaking videogame, you don't achieve anything. Its people like you who think games need to be complex and pretentious, when videogames are just about fun. Mario, back in the day..... the game that change the industry all you did was walk and jump, 2 buttons, A and B. I'm sure some games like ARMA have a huge learning curve and thats fine but a high learning curve =/= fun sometimes. There are games that cater to people who want the military simulator and then their are games like COD, just arcade shooting fun. Also what reward do you get when you win a battle in ARMA? do you get a certificate? do you win money? get off your high horse and learn how to have fun with your games instead of thinking complexity equals a good game.

The thing I have noticed about everybody hating on Call of Duty like its the worst game ever made, is that they were saying the EXACT same things NOT since Black Ops, NOT since Modern Warfare 2, but theyve been saying all of this since Call of Duty 4, which was arguably the best in the series. EDIT: Although I personally consider Black Ops the best in the series.

Complexity can lead to fun in its own way. Mind you, there are a lot of people who like simulators; their fun is derived from how a simulator can simulate certain real-life situations.

Who cares if someone gets tired, when there are still so many else loving the game?

So now you are going to change your original point? That can't even be called refining it, that's just downright ignorance.

And as an actual answer:

Someone who is already tired of seeing all of these people who will use the same invalid points to support their game, only for them to be proven wrong or irrelevant. To make it worse, these people often go on to try and ignore their incorrect statements and replace them with evasive comments to attempt a closure of a debate (or argument, take your pick) that they are losing.

They need to make enough changes to keep the interest of gamers.

Change too much, and it wouldn't be COD. Change little to none, and even the funnest games get old.

[QUOTE="DarkLink77"][QUOTE="dkdk999"] really ? I don't remember anyone saying these things when cod 4 came out. Back then halo was the series that everyone was hating on. And people here would say cod 4 was more tactical it's kind of funny how much these forums have changed. I like it though. dkdk999
I've been saying it since Call of Duty 4. That game was garbage. I'll never understand why it's so damn popular.

When it first came out I thought the perk system and killsteaks were addictive. And the campaign was amazing. I personally got tired of it after a few months though and went back to halo 3.

I never liked it. All I saw were broken gameplay mechanics.

It is a fun game, but let me know when they come out with something new.

They haven't changed the winning formula since COD 4, and it's getting very old now.

GOGOGOGURT

Why change the formula if it's winning?

They need to make enough changes to keep the interest of gamers.

Change too much, and it wouldn't be COD. Change little to none, and even the funnest games get old.

They change enough. COD is COD. They don't need to change too much. The game is too fun to play.

Because there are still people who don't like it. Therefore it has a problem of not appealing to everyone, thus it can still be improved. If something can be improved, and it's known what needs improvement, then there's no reason to stop improving it.

If they don't like it, too bad. Find something else to play. We don't care! ;)

Again, you've passed off my answer as trivial because it shows that your opinion was wrong. This is a reason dislike the CoD crowd, among others. I answered your question, then you've practically said that the question was meaningless, therefore GOGOGOGURT's post is still valid.

I'd be suprised to see that both of you would have a K/D over 1.00 let alone a .80. There are tatics. They are used by good players. Funny thing is, most are like you guys in thinking-run and shoot. Y'all run straight into the kill zone and up my or the other teams killstreaks. There are so many of these people (and i'm going to include you two). Why would you run into a spot where you just died 3 times in a row? IDK. Why not flank a sniper from behind? IDK. Why not have a team that is smart enough to have at least one person who has UAV? IDK. Why not have a class that has cold blooded? IDK. Why not shoot down the chopper that just kill you and your killstreak so others can continue their killstreak? IDK. Why not toss a stun/flash grenade before you rush an area? IDK. The list could go on. These are tatics/strategies. Tatics/strategies that 90% of all COD players don't use. You two need to play with friends who actually fill a whole team and know how to play. Then you'll see how/what you should do/equip.

cdragon_88

When one of the modern warefares (i forget which one) was on trial on steam I was finishing within the top 3 in my first round and my K/D was always above 1.0, i didn't use any tactics at all.

I dislike it because the single player is generic, no one thing really stands out as great, sure it puts in some big explosions but that dosn't really impress me in the cinema never mind when it is really just a scale slider on a particle effect. The MP has a generic base however one that has worked resonably in the past, i wouldn't put it up there with CS or DoD but CoD 2 was functional and had some fun moments, then they took that and messed it up by giving bonuses. Kill streaks really ruined the MP and perks didn't help either.

IMO the perks should be balanced, each positive effect counter weighted by an equal negative effect, therefore new players are never at a strict disadvantage, certain buids would favor certain tactics but then they all have their weak points.

[QUOTE="StrongDeadlift"]The thing I have noticed about everybody hating on Call of Duty like its the worst game ever made, is that they were saying the EXACT same things NOT since Black Ops, NOT since Modern Warfare 2, but theyve been saying all of this since Call of Duty 4, which was arguably the best in the series. dkdk999

I made the exact same revelation that the TC made back before MW2 was even out. This was back around the time MGS4 came out. Every single person on the internet was saying the exact same things they are saying now, about Call of Duty 4. "generic" "rehash", etc. Literally word for word EXACTLY the same things being said about MW2 and Black Ops.

Call of Duty Black Ops is great fun.. The singleplayer I find awful, CoD campaigns hasn't evolved since the first game back in 2000.. But the multiplayer is great.. Its got a addictive leveling system where improvements lead to more options.. The perk system that came from the series is genious creating somethign better then a class system.. IT has a multitude of weapons and choice that can ultimately change how you play the game.. The killstreaks not so much, for the most part half of them are extremely overpowered and dumb.. Zombies is great fun and very addictive.. Especially for the random nature it has..

We can really say that about any shooter out there.. The Counterstrike AWP is infamous for this imo.. I do agree with killstreaks.. Things like Chopper gunner, AC130 etc etc is crap.. But things like UAV/Spy plane, napalm strike.. Or automated ones I think is a great idea and can be countered easily enough if you have a competent team.. Nor does it imbalance the game..
