Well first off you have to understand that many Japanese games are not set in Japan. DMC, Castlevania, Zelda is medieval Europe, Metal Gear and Resident Evil are about Americans.

Secondly you might not think the are Japanese but they are, it is just due to the Anime art style a lot of Japanese artist employ. Powerpuff girl eyes are and rainbow colored hair are common in Japan. Sometimes you get a more realistic interpretation of the Japanese people (Tekken) but the anime art style is so in-grained in Japanese culture that you rarely see it often.

Yes I have lived in Japan when I was in the Navy, No i am not Japanese but i am Asian and you couldnt tell me apart from them side to side. I listen to Japanese music even though I do not understand the language but i love the music. I prefer gaming with original Japanese voicing because i like it better than the english dubs even though i dont understand Japanese. And I know exactly how the Japanese are, very similar in culture to mines. Japanese media encouraging their fellow citizens to look more Caucasian is a Fact
