This is getting annoying. Cows cry about sales and discredit them, lemmings brag etc. Can we discuss the numbers people? Maybe its time for me to make a thread on the importance of sales again.

not bad, but you could bring up how sales leads to trends, halo on the xbox and some others like splinter cell and the massive money pulled by PC shooters last generation spawned all of the new IP shooters this generation for better or worse the developers wanted to follow the gaming trend, and sony has even made it their primary demographic to target. you may also want to add something shiny to your new OP if you do make the thread Education [A process] which makes one rogue cleverer than another. Oscar Wilde that last bit is just a quote i wanted to use in another thread that just got locked[QUOTE="simslifer"]sales are important to manufacturers but not to us gamerseven if the game doesn't have a sequel the first game is still on the market and still better and rated higher than the competition games.
I thought you guys said Little Big Planet is a sales flop and Resistance ? so why does both those games have a sequel and LBP is even getting a psp game ?dsmccracken
But poor sales lead to several things that ARE important to gamers: continued support and high quality exclusives. No one wants the next Dreamcast or original Xbox, in regards to the former. And for the latter: wouldn't you want FFXIII (and the like) to still be exclusive to the PS3? By show of hands, who here believes that FFXIII would still have gone multiplat if the PS3 were selling like the Wii is?
Tell AdobeArtist and foxhound_fox that.

you cast your vote with your purchase, a purchase being the other end of a sales transaction. if you feel the ps3/360 is worth its price and not the wii and you have purchased a ps3/360 then your vote has already been cast. heck if you see utility in buying 5 ps3/360s then by all means do so. but if you some how feel that you opinion is more valid then the 50+ million wii owners then by all means debate it. i would have little hope on it changing the markets performance but at least people will get to see your point of view more clearly. that one voice in 23million/33million will be heard. please for all of our sakes keep it respectableFanboy logic shows that since the best system is based on sales, we should sell our 360s & PS3s to purchase Wiis. It makes since because you shouldn't need another gaming system if you already own the best selling one.

[QUOTE="STRETCH-E"]In your opinion, remember. :)I still don't even see why that even matters -- if people are going to buy a Xbox 360 now, uhh... will they only be buying games from 2009 and forward? No. The Xbox 360 has four years under its belt -- there's a plethora of games to choose from.Yet the PS3 has better games in 09. Go figure.

That's your opinion, not a fact. actually it has some of the highest rated games this year but those are opinions too. So thats some thing that can not be proven.and PC has better games than the PS3, whats the point of your argument?Yet the PS3 has better games in 09. Go figure.

Dang, I should sell that Wii my girlfriend has that I purchased so I can be that person your talking about.
And people think Activision is just bluffing. The PSP and the PS3 both sold at least 30% less then they did the year earlier. I would be pretty worried also spending money on development for a system that is harder and more costly to develop for and with sales declining 30%. Also lets face it the PS3 is not steller in the software dept either sales wise.rybe1025They are bluffing. The only people who think they weren't are the ones who hope they weren't.
This is the first six months of this year compared to the first six months last year (NPD)
The 360 and the DS are the only systems to see growth. The 360 seeing a 21% increase.
The Wii while seeing a decrease in numbers it is still the clear leader in the consoles.
Sony looking bad all around. The PS3 seeing a 30% decrease a large decline in sales.

The great games released this first half for PS3 unfortunately didn't have half of the MGS4 marketing.

The userbase in NA is almost half of the 360 userbase so what do you expect?
Im going to start acampaign gonna be called "THINK WORLDWIDE" lol.
The NA userbase is Sony's fault, its not an excuse. The userbase isn't something that can be hidden behind on an issue like this. ITs Sony's job to increase the user base. if they don't its not our problem.
You see, it's things like this that convince me that the PS3 is Sony's final console. If I'm the head of Sony's gaming division, I look at that graph once, turn my resignation in to Stringer, and come to the realization that the future of gaming is about Nintendo, Microsoft, and Apple.
How they can expect to remain relevant for even a few more months is beyond me.

Yawn another sales thread that doesn't affect me. Man who honestly cares. What are you trying to prove. that 360 is better than PS3?
lemmings won't ever stop with sales.
lol every conversation about games, graphics etc will some way or another end up about sales.
funny, because cows use it too, well they try too. "ps3 sold more in the same timeframe...." looks like cows selfowned since they are sellign less then last year and the 360 has an increase b.. b....... bu...but rrod makes sales.....[QUOTE="HAZE-Unit"]

I think you are asking for the impossible.

its sony's fault they produced a product perceived as having inferior value to the 360. the consumer and market are never wrong and cant be blamed for a products shortcomings.its not the world just the single biggest market is all....NPD isnt the world. North America alone takes up so much of the 360 fan/userbase.

As for Japan.... it is outselling the 360, but it's own sales are nothing to brag about there. What Sony needs to do is to stop releasing so many mature AAAE titles. They need system sellers that appeal to a large audience.
Longcat2
GTA is mature and sold milions upon millions of copies. Its not the rating, its the perception and taste of the userbase that matter along with providing captivating software to the consumer. Sony games don't do that immediately which is why their sales are perceived even more poor than they actually are. The next 2 years will decide everything for the rest of the gen.
What they need is better marketing. But some ad space, you cheapskates! Clearly GTA IV didn't help the PS3, because it wasn't exclusive. If GTA IV was released as a PS3 exclusive then the sales would increase a lot.

Heck the 360 selling twice as much as the Wii over there now also right now but it does not matter cause it is not like the 360 will ever catch the Wii nowHmm...Looks like Sony is riding this out until the last minute lol. The PS3's sales trend will continue to drop if there isn't another price drop. I'm eager to see how this continues to play out.Episode_Eve
It's pretty obvious how it's going to play out. PS3 will continue to slide further into irrelevance. By this time next year, most developers will have pulled suppoert for it. There won't be a PS4.

Sure. It's funny that more and more developers are actually working on PS3. - Valve previously didn't find the PS3 as a viable development platform. Now they do. - Bioware is making games for PS3. Largely due to being owned by EA. The PS3's price wont stay the same forever. It's already dropped $200 within 2 years. Price rules the market more than anything, and that's Sony's true killer-app.[QUOTE="HAZE-Unit"]
