Probably dozens of these threads already made this year but what the hell, let's go again. As the title says, what is your favourite location/area/environment in a game? It can be a whole world or one specific place or town in that world.

One I love after making a video for it recently is Flotsam in the Witcher 2, that little village is awesome. The huge trees and the little old timey houses and buildings are great. The people and the atmosphere there feels great and I loved listening to the people, felt like the place was actually alive.

Another one I love is Skyrim, the whole world ad environment is fantastic. I am partial to snowy areas in games, especially trees though. But I just loved walking around in that game doing nothing but sight seeing. The NPCs were dull as fvck but the world itself was very atmospheric.

Special mention goes to Metro 2033s tunnels too.

Damn...Well, a lot. I'll just mention Nier. Pretty much every environment/area in that. Sure helps that they're accompanied by the beautiful ost.

I actually really liked Skyrim. I could wonder around for hours in it. Also, the Old West from Red Dead Redemption.

Max Payne's early New York subway/apartment/street levels. I find the following 2 acts less enjoyable for some reason.

Jungle areas in general; Far Cry, MGS3, Crysis, etc.

Snowy areas; ditto Skyrim

The first few missions of Halo: CE. Landing on and exploring the Halo for the first time is a high the series could never really reach again.

GTA: San Andreas countryside; exploring, dicking around, killing, driving a chain of 8 tractors off the top of Mt Chiliad and floating down on a parachute, etc.

Stalker: SOC had some really neat areas. Can't remember their names for the most part, Pripyat was pretty neat.

I really like Esamir in Planetside 2, has a really cool (get it) vibe going on.

The trench map in Red Orchestra 2 that came out with the GOTY edition is also really awesome.

Basically any place in Metroid Prime 1/2, Morrowind, or Majora's Mask. A few places in Shadow of the Colossus too. They don't make em like that anymore. Hopefully Dark Souls has some good ones.

The Tibetan village from UC2 comes to mind first, drawing a blank on other environments for some reason.

Max Payne3 had really good enviroments, with the Favel level standing out the most to me. The Arkham games have detailed enviroments with lots of story to them, like the museum in Arkham. Assassin's Creed games have beautiful enviroments that are fun to climb around in. Vice City is another game I never got tired cruising around in. Yeah that's a few of them from the top of my head :).

My favorite environment in a game would probably be from Skyrim. The natural world there is so well done. The second would be Gears of War 3's environment. The torn apart world is fantastic.

I'm biased towards forests, and the colour palette in Flotsam is much nicer than the rest of the areas. The camp has that awful bloomed out sky, And the last area is a bit meh. Vergen is nice though
