Orange Box.
I played through the three Half Life games and Portal probably about 5 times each. I also have every non Team Fortress achievement (I don't have online) except the Portal Challenges ones.
The Orange Box.
-Portal; id honestly say the defining game of this generation, even if its a petite one.
-Team Fortress 2; The best team based multiplayer game this gen, and arguably ever.
-HL2 Ep2; The most refined fps on the market, almost perfecting its own formula too a tea.
(HL2 and Ep1 make it sweeter I guess)
And of course you cannot forget the community that surrounds the game, producing phenomenal amounts of content, and the fantastic steam online system - with its community features, and of course valves constant enhancing of the game.

There are other fantastic games, but to me the OB really is the game of this generation.
For me, Super Mario Galaxy.
As for the Orange Box, TF2 is superb, but it faces stiff competition. HL2 ep 2 was fantastic, but the HL formula has lost it's novelty for me, and Portal, whilst being innovative and fresh, was a bit of a cakewalk.
It probably isn't the best game, by my personal favourite of this gen has to be The Witcher.
There was just something about the music, the setting, the moral choices...I dunno, but I loved it.
1. The Orange Box
2. Mass Effect
3. Galactic Civilizations 2
Honorouble mentiones: Stalker, The Witcher and Sins Of a Solar Empire.
My vote goes to Halo 3.
There's just so much to do in the game.
