noHe's joking.,
Halo series.
Mirror's edge, this game is so ******* bad i cant process how can somebody like this crap.
[QUOTE="Lightning_fan"]Ocarina of Time (Majoras Mask is way better) Grand Theft Auto IV (amazing but really that high?) Final Fantasy 6 Chrono Trigger Mariotrigger_cross93Look, I know that in these threads people just choose the games that are the most critically acclaimed and say they are overrated. But Chrono Trigger really?... How can a game that does so much right possibly be overrated... Final Fantasy 6?... I know we all have opinions, but sometimes they have to be wrong haha...
Chrono Cross is superior to trigger in everyway but loading times.
6 is far from the best in the series but is heralded as the best.

Trigger and Cross are two of my favorite games, but trigger held up over time ALOT better over the years than cross did. To say cross is superior is stretching it. The story was extremely muffled in cross, the graphics look horrible now compared to trigger. I'll give it that it's music is fantastic, but so was trigger's. The battle system is the one thing about cross I'll agree is better. As for FF6, every game has it's cult following. I believe that 8 years ago people would say 7 is the best, but now 7 is hated. 9 was underrated, till it got overrated... personally I think 9 is the best...The only thing that is overrated is the word overrated.
But popular games I do not like are Half Life 2, Half Life 2 Episode 1, Half Life 2 Episode 2, Portal, Portal 2, Left 4 Dead 2 (never played hte original), Team Fortress 2, Borderlands 2, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Mass Effect 1+2, Dragon Age Origins.

Battlefield 3

Gonna have to agree on that one.
From what I keep readin, a lot of people hate on BF3 all the time, even the proper fans. Because there is always something broken in it
[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]Flipping FANTGASTIC game (easily one of the best of the generation); but most certainly not a 10 from my point of view.MGS4 by a fvcking mile.

Thanks for proving my point, nothing but over hyperbolic dribble talk associated with this game. It's a good game, but it's not great. It has tonnes of problems and isn't even the best MGS game. Saying it's the ebst this gen is big talk considering some of the other well made heavy weights that we got
Mario Galaxy, Zelda Windwaker, Zelda TP, Zelda Skyward Sword, Uncharted 2, Vanquish, Infamous, Resident Evil (franchise) and almost all highly rated indie games.

Can't believe I forgot about this little "gem".
Probably the most overrated game this generation; I couldn't believe how fvcking dull it was after having read so much praise..
Hmmm -Golden Axe -Streets of Rage -any Tony Hawk after 2 -Gears of War 2 -Bioshock 1&2Heirren
We are enemies now :P
This! The only reason I managed to push myself through that awful, awful game is that it is a modern classic. But I hated almost every second (only fun part for me was screaming mantis bossfight, it was a bit clever). Boring clumsy, unsatisfying gameplay, interupted by waaay too long cutscenes.MGS4 by a fvcking mile.

It suffers from what may be the most convoluted piece-of-sh!t story I have ever come across in gaming. I couldn't stand a few of the characters and a lot of the cheesiness. And then there's the cut-scenes...
MGS3 quite honestly pisses all over it in terms of gameplay (I preferred many of the gameplay mechanics), story, characters, boss fights, music. It also has a perfect balance between actual gameplay and drawn out cut-scenes.
I still very (!) much enjoyed MGS4 but in many ways, it pales in comparison to its predecessor.
EDIT: The Boss is the best female game character of all time.
People naming MGS4? Really? I just finished it a month ago or so--after hearing the "playable movie" clause for so long I was surprised to find that the game has some of the most raw, dynamic gameplay of this entire gen.Heirren
MGS4 = arguably the best game I've ever played in my life.
It's all down to opinion, some will like it, some will love it, some will even hate it, just like any other game.

Yep, it's boring, reptitive, simplistic, powers aren't that great, ugly and jaggy and the performance is pretty bad.

The powers are fvcking awful.
I was really looking forward to unlocking the power that allows for Cole to fly. My reaction after I had given said power a few spins: "meh.."
It's a shame because I really, really tried my best to like this game. I simply couldn't do it! It's an unbelievably unsatisfactory game.

As for the "playable movie" hyperbole, all from fanboys and people who have never played the series before.

I find it disturbing that it took them so long to get decent shooting mechanics.
Attempting to aim and fire with a rifle in MGS3 is something no human being should ever have to endure. Ever.

Agreed. Storys aside, mgs4 has the most fleshed gameplay in the series.MGS4 doesn't compromise the gameplay.
It's a 10 hour game, and a 10 hour movie, yes, but the gameplay is solid (hihi)
When I say a game is a movie and not a game, that means the gameplay is a shallow michael bay roller coaster ride (scripted, QTE, everything is context sensitive). I'm fine with actual cutscenes.

Agreed. Storys aside, mgs4 has the most fleshed gameplay in the series. Yes! Amazingly responsive, fluid and satisfying compared to earlier iterations. You really feel like you are in full control! The camera was nigh perfect as well, if my memory serves me right.MGS4 doesn't compromise the gameplay.

I disagree. It can be played in a number of ways. They give you a battlefield, you must go from a to b, but it's up to the player on how to accomplish the task.MGS4 doesn't compromise the gameplay.
