[QUOTE="Heil68"]SMG 1-2 and Halo ODST. TheEroica
yeah the galaxy games were good, but really I can't say I felt a sense of greatness in them... Borderlands today? The greatness of SMG games is the level of gameplay variety. There are a vast number of mechanics, they always introduce a new one around every corner. The thing is you can take 2-3 of them and create entire games, and there are tons of them. Then there's the mindblowing applications of gravity, some of the things like 3D spherical worlds, walking upside down, revolving around cylindrical shaped objects; that alone is impressive in a video game.
Also the fact that the game design is masterful, best I've ever seen in my life. Dat Yoshiaki Koizumi (director of SMG)
But besides that everything is practically perfect.Graphics (varied, creative, colors, 60 fps), the OST is insanely good (mix of grand orchestrated tracks and gamey tunes), controls/physics are god-tier. Learning/Difficulty curves are flawless in the second game (first SMG is on the easy side).
There is literally nothing bad to say about the second game.
That said (lol), I can understand some people's dislike at the whole obstacle course approach to level design, as opposed to the open environments of its predecessors. But in my view, the linear approach is what a platformer is about.
