Poll Your personal GOTY so far? (136 votes)

The Witcher 3 38%
Metal Gear Solid 5 15%
Halo 5 4%
Rise of the Tomb Raider 4%
Fallout 4 8%
Bloodborne 12%
Others (Please mention) 20%

Okay, so, pretty basic question, but one I felt would be interesting considering the year is coming to an end. There's been a fair amount of good games this year, and with the GOTY season now approaching, which game would you say has been your personal favourite in 2015?

Mine would have to be The Witcher 3.

P.S: I'm sorry if I forgot to mention your personal favourites in the poll. If I did, vote for the "Other" option and tell me which game you have in mind in your reply :D

The Witcher 3 for me, but Syndicate and Legacy of the Void are really close quality wise. Halo 5 (campaign) and Tomb Raider have also been a lot of fun so far. Any of these games could win as far as I'm concerned.

Just curious, have you played Halo 5:Guardians.My vote is:Halo 5. I honestly can't judge the other games simply because I have'nt played most of the other games,so I don't know if there any good? That's simple logic.Maybe I should not have voted for that reason?

God no, I haven't played it, but the day an 8.0 rated FPS wins GOTY is the day I'll stop visiting GameSpot.

To be honest,I kinda remember Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare getting an 8 on Gamespot and that game won numerous Game of the Year awards and made one of the biggest impact on Videogame history.Maybe Halo 5 did not make that much of a stir as Call of Duty 4,but it is one of the Best Halo games since the first. Also probably the best Multiplayer in Videogames today. In my opinion.

Wow. In a year where the likes of Metal Gear Solid 5 and Halo 5 came out, it's hard to believe The Witcher 3 is a clear winner. Not sure if it's a testament to the latter's quality or an illustration of how disappointing the former two are. Or both.

COD 4: Modern Warfare actually got a 9 on Gamespot. It was only the Wii version if I recall that got below a 9. Halo 5 has a chance to sneak in to the GOTY nomination right now despite the 8 it got.,but that will depend on what the people deciding the nominations think about that game. It did win GOTM recently also. Some games like everquest have won GOTY on gamespot in the past despite not getting a 9 or higher at all.

Destiny is the best MP on consoles if you like co-op and competitive.

I find it hilarious that CDPR gets a pass for releasing games more incomplete than Bethesda's games.

I never understood how the combat of the Witcher is working compare to Shadow of Mordor. Nor I understand the always run no option to walk.

For MGS, I never understood the sound of when detected nor the slow beginnings that was a lot of pain and no fun. Plus the non sense I have encounter.

And for Fallout I never understood the bugs.

So I'm going with TR followed by SOMA and than Mad Max.

In what universe is Fallout 4 a more complete game than The Witcher 3? It's not even a more complete game than Skyrim, which was rough as hell. The Witcher 3, considering its size and scale, is a very complete and polished game.

@khoofia_pika: At the beginning of the year I didn't really care 'bout TW3. All I was thinking was Bloodborne and MGSV from the upcoming games. I only bought TW3 last summer because I wanted to have something new to play, never expected it would be _that_ good of a game. Friggin' blew my mind. I played MGSV in the middle of my TW3 sessions, didn't even finish it, such a let down.

@khoofia_pika: is that why they had to redo the console menu UI twice and fix the movement? Plus all the other bugs that game launched with including not being able to save or load your game. Not to mention all the dlc that could have launched with the game but instead was held back and given out once a week. By your logic you could argue that for the size, scale and interactivity that Fallout 4 is a more complete game than the witcher.

CoD 4:MW got a 9,Really??I was sure it got an 8,but I'll take you word for it.I hope Halo 5 and least gets considered for Game of the Year, even though it probably wouldn't win :( In my opinion,I think Halo 5 is underrated.

MGSV because it has the best and most fun gameplay out of any game this year.

I can't be mad at the lack of story when the gameplay is excellent and the most addicting thing ever.

Bit lackluster for me this year and I didn't have time to play very many games but I guess it'll be Fallout 4 even though I'm only 3 hours in since release day.

Fallout 4 has a shitload of glitches, but it's yet to get its customary share of patches and the like, so I won't compare it to The Witcher 3. However, The Witcher 3 in its current state compared to games of a similar size and scope also in their current state is commendably polished. You play the likes of Inquisition and Skyrim now, and you'll find that they're still buggy as hell, whereas Witcher 3 right is, barring a few minor glitches, is a very polished game.

you cant compare an open world game at thats been out for 6 months to one thats been out a week. i cant tell you what the current state of witcher is since i haven't touched it since launch but my time with it was filled with constant bugs.

As I said, I'm NOT comparing Fallout 4 to Witcher 3 exactly for the reason. I'm comparing the likes of Inquisition and Skyrim to TW3, all of which have been out for plenty of time and are still buggy messes compared to TW3, which is a very polished game in its current state.

It may not be the popular opinion, but I had mote fun with Our and The Blind Forest than any other title this year. Another nod goes to Pillars of Eternity.

Pandemic Legacy.
It's a really cool concept that I've only ever seen in one other game, and that was Risk Legacy and I don't like Risk. Base Pandemic is good, this one just adds so much good stuff to it.

People has such ease picking their personal game of the year?

To me I always end up debating a whole lot of things about what I have played.

Objectively I will have to say "The Witcher" I really like the game, it has very few faults, however it is not the game I enjoyed the most this year.

That would go to either Fallout 4, Super Mario Maker or SOMA, two games I see a lot of faults in those games, I simply enjoyed them more then all other games this year. Does that make them my personal games of the year, when I see so many faults in them?

Add to that that Xenoblade Chronicles X comes out soon, that will likely be the last contender.

But objectively I would say The Witcher 3.

Rocket League.

MGSV is good but I just don't have the time to really dive into like I want and they made able.

So by no fault of its own...it gets 2nd place.

Witcher 3. I get about $200 from my job for video games. So naturally I buy video games or ingame item. (Games are healthy). Despite buying a lot I tend not to finish 90% of them, most games make me lose interest quickly. I tend to go back to league of legend because it requires good decision making skills as well as good mechanics. It isn't an AI that you fight, you play other players. It's not a random 16v16. If league of legends can win, I think it should. Granted, most of these websites including the goty reward will look to at AAA games.

With that said, without a doubt Witcher 3 should take it. Graphically, it's undeniably the best this year; standing in the meadow, raining, the wind changing direction, the entire field reacts to it. It's amazing! Story wise, it was very good. Cd project really did a good job. The combat too is both simple and effective

All I can say is, I tried playing Witcher 2 and I quit about 15-20 min into the game. I was hesitant on trying Witcher 3 but I have it a try because I remembered Witcher 1 was ok. It blew me away. Felt better than bj

The Witcher 3 just edges out Bloodborne. But it was close. The Witcher 3 has great amounts of content that you want to play. Even most side quest are better than story missions in other games. Bloodborne has addicting gameplay that keeps you coming back. I can't wait for the DLC. The one disappointment was MGS V sadly. I'm ever soo slowly trugging through it. It's structure just blows.
