Whoever said the Wii isn't for hardcore gamers don't know squat about games.Willy105
Yep, you're right. That Wii is so full of serious games, with complex ploits, deep gameplay and a high effort required to beat. Justlike Wario ware! Or any of the other billion minigames out there!
Come on, the Wii seems pretty obviously to be a highly casual-focused game console.

Name those "billion minigames", because someone's Xbox 360 overheats everytime someone says that.

Actually when defining what a "hardcore" game use to be.
All these systems are casual as hell.
The only hardcore systems are the PC, Arcades, and the Japanese SEGA Saturn
[QUOTE="Teufelhuhn"][QUOTE="Shadow_Link50"][QUOTE="Teufelhuhn"][QUOTE="Willy105"][QUOTE="Bread_or_Decide"]Where's the wii versions of The Darkness, Assassin's Creed, Army of Two, Kane and Lynch, and GTA IV?
Treal_basic
Why would we want those games? It's about time we start playing something better than last gen.
Super Paper Mario is last gen? Alright, whatever you say.
so was Too Human.
Yeah...3 years ago. SPM was a GameCube title as of 6 months before release on the Wii.
And again, I'm not trying to dig on Super Paper Mario. I haven't played it, I don't know if there's things in there that couldn't be done on the Cube. My comments were about RE4 and Zelda.
So in other words, you're saying that if Nintendo wants to help the Wii get more 3rd party support, they should get themselves and their 2nd party groups to work on a variety of genres, genres that Nintendo and their 2nd parties may be inexperienced in, in order to prove that they will do okay on the Wii?
Technoweirdo
They need to do something more than just getting Manhunt 2 on their console and then calling it a day, thats what I'm saying. If they need to branch out a bit into areas away from their safe haven of Zelda and Mario Party, than thats what they need to do. Third parties wouldn't be making games for non-gamers if Nintendo hadn't done it first and proved their was a market for it on their system, the same goes for an online multiplayer FPS.
It seems as it already has. Most core games seem to dislike the Wii.pins_basic
you're not trying to tell me that gamespot forums makes up most "core" gamers are you?
[QUOTE="Teufelhuhn"]Well I'm real glad they think they can appeal to hardcore gamers.
So far I haven't seen anything to support their belief.

What and watered down PC ports *auto-aim? No mod community?*, casualized PC games *Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Rainbow Six Vegas*, and average at best shooters *compared to PC exclusives*, total whored online *when you have online co-op games that's when you know you have gone too far (how can you cooperate without being able to talk to eachother?) with lackluster features *unable to mod* while paying for it, microtransactions, killing small console developers is the way of gaming?
Oh and since you insist on trying to put up review quotes for your points here are mine.
"This is not the Rainbow Six PC gamers have wanted to see return. The tactical planning sessions are gone as are teammates who can be killed. The original Rainbow Six games were tense affairs that pushed methodical action from room to room with a real sense of danger. Rainbow Six was also six people back in the day each soldier could be given commands to make sure that all angles were covered. The Rainbow Six we have in Vegas is a straight fast action shooter. It may not be run and gun like Halo or DOOM, but it's certainly not going for the realism of old. Is this a bad thing? For players that would love to see the old planning sessions make a return, the answer is obviously yes"
And please don't make me dig up the old "Oblivion" is the sucks threads.
Of come on. RE: UB looks like a joke. Why because it's a light gun game? It seems someone has never played classics as of House of the Dead 2, Time Crisis 2 and 3, and Seven Seas Adventure *sign* Why am I cursed to be the only gamer on this board to have a great arcade by him. Oh well *goes back to arcade to play Capcom vs. SNK2: Mark of the Millienium.
Dencore
Yes, because its a light gun game. Light gun games aren't exactly oozing with depth, and they're the definition of niche when it comes to being sold on consoles
I don't know how you think hardcore gamers are going to flock to Zack and Wiki. Joke? It's one of the most hyped Wii games around and IGN gave it much crediablity, and it's an adventure game dedicated to core gamers and it's made by one of the best developers in the industry.
Dencore
When was the last time an adventure game caused a stir among the hardcore gamer community? Nobody talks about the Sam & Max episodes, and they're part of a series considered to be among the best of the genre's hayday.
We know absolutely nothing about Disaster: Day of Crisis (yet somehow I always see that game getting mentioned on "good upcoming games" lists...). Why do Cows hype Makai Wars? Why do Lemmings hype Infinite Discovery? Hell why the hell are you hyping Portal? Because it's being made by a talented developer with a good track record that's why, as of Disaster is.
Dencore
I'm not going to lie to you, I've never even heard of those games. And are you joking about portal? We have gameplay footage that spells out the entire game concept for you in about a minute. For Disaster, we have a vague trailer that tells you the game's subject material and nothing else.
Sales don't tell you everything about a game's reception among the hardcore community. Everyone here loved Okami, yet it sold about 12 copies. Of course the Nintendo fans loved those games, but plenty of others watched thos games go by without batting an eye due to the wealth of quality games available on the PS2 (and the Xbox, to a lesser extent).Metroid, Mario, and Smash Bros. did little to attract hardcore games last gen, Yes, selling over 5 million copies each *except Metroid which sold over a million* does nothing to attract hardcore
I don't know why they would do better now. Bigger install base maybe?Dencore

Rainbow six prooves that devs are dumbing down their games to fit a more casual shooter crowd. And XBLA is just that ARCADE, you can't make a long game on it without users complaining. Devs are forced to make shooters, racers, brawlers, or something more simple along those lines instead of making RPG's, FPS's, Action-Adventure, Adventure, etc. Small devs creating retail content pioneered the industry: Valve, Maxis, Blizzard, Squaresoft, etc. Taking that away will demolish the gaming industry.

Wait wait wait since when do sales matter? And how does this effect this title from being of quality?

Well I may stand corrected but we don't have any previews or hands on of the game and I thought that is what you ment about knowledge of it.

I'm sorry but WTF? IDK what's more ridiculous, claiming that games that get record preorders aren't for the hardcore, or stating that a games that are suppose to drawn in hardcore gamers get next to no sales are the ones that draw in hardcore? And you JUST stated that Zack and Wiki and RE: Umbrella didn't matter because they were niche *a title that doesn't sell well and catter to a specific audience as Okami did to action-adventure core gamers* and now your saying a niche title is what draws in hardcore and is what the Wii needs when you dismissed the ones it has? I'm sorry but....
[QUOTE="akif22"]hardcore games are coming .. mario galaxy, SSBB, Metroid Prime 3, No More Heroes, Soul Calibur Legends etc

those must be pretty da** hardcore dandelions. i like to call them weeds.
Eiji Aonuma just made the easiest Zelda game...TP. It is even easier than Wind Waker. And he has the nerve to say that Wii won't alienate hardcore? AvIdGaMeR444oh yeah.....thats why Wind waker had easy for it's difficulty in it's review and twilight princess has medium.
Both titles were pretty damn easy.....WW was even easier though
