I think it's time to take the franchise away from Aonuma. I'm not convinced he knows what is best for the franchise. I mean he was ready and willing to make SS control just like TP for most of it's development. That's not a good sign.

I'm sure nintendo has plenty of other talented people that could do zelda justice.

▲ He also wants to keep voice acting away from the series, and also orchestrated music. He was pretty surprised when Miyamoto said the game would have orchestrated music at E3, he obviously hadn't planned on it. ▲

I think people will realise how bad TP's controls are when they play SS. But from what I've seen its just another Zelda with some gameplay idea's from Wii Sports Resort. The presentation looks sweet however. I'm looking forward to it, I definitely don't feel awe-inspired though.

i'm willing to bet that resort is actually a compilation of control demos of games like zelda, pilotwings and waverace :P sure the last two won't ever be even announced for the wii, but it doesn't mean they didn't say "ok we're not releasing waverace. what do we do with all these lines of code? I KNOW! make it work with miis and throw on that wii sports package every studio is throwing their demos" :P

Maybe, same difference. Maybe Zelda SS will have canoeing (not a bad idea if there's lots of water). I love Wave Race I really do, but the Jet Ski game in WS Resort really made my arms ache after a few goes. I just can't see that series making its way to the Wii, same for F-Zero. And why on earth was there no fishing game in it?

The funny thing is that those who werent praising MM and WW were too busy crying and moaning that Nintendo wasnt giving them another one just like OOT. Nintendo gives them a Ocarina 2 and now its an outdated, "rehashed" IP.

This is the truth.

[QUOTE="bobcheeseball"][QUOTE="HoolaHoopMan"]I'm skeptical, I fell into the TP trap and ended up with a mediocre Zelda. Hopefully it will give me a reason to whip out my Wiimotes again. Cherokee_Jack
Mediocre? :? What was mediocre about it exactly? It might not have been revolutionary or innovative but it was a solid game.

It wasn't a mediocre game, but it was by all means a mediocre Zelda.

TP was a stellar Zelda game.

But even so: A *Mediocre Zelda game* is still alot better than the cluster**** of generic shooters and shallow action games on the 360/PS3.

Seeing how reluctant people are for including basic voice acting in the game makes it seem like they won't rock the boat with 'innovation.' Innovation is overrated though. Just make a great game. I'll take quality over that any day.

I expected a more unique Zelda, but after the first dissapointment I changed my mind about it and expect another great Zelda game.

A multi-player based, first-person Zelda could be revolutionary, though.

I only just stopped to think how the Nunchuck and Wiimote together could do it properly so ignore what I said. I was thinking about holding the Wiimote sideways for some reason.

I could see using the nunchuck's control stick for steering, and maybe pulling back on the wiimote for throttle.

A button for throttle. Using motion for steering or throttle/braking would be a bad idea because its too fast. The only thing motion would be useful for is either boosting or slamming into other cars.

It's going tio have more motion-controls than ever which is what killed TP for me. The Gamecube version was amazing

I'm expecting a disappointment but I will give the game a try.

I highly doubt it will. It will be a great Zelda game that I will love though. For it to be revolutionary, they got to add something innovative. Nintendo said they were trying to mix up the regular Zelda formula but I'm skeptical.

like devil may cry? yeah...reboots aren't always a be-all-end-all solution

Here's a thought, how about they just retire the series? Not every series needs 10 million sequels and spin offs. Sometimes gems are best left by themselves.

Well... there's still going to be games like Zelda. Why not at least use consistent and identifiable characters? It's not as if Nintendo runs their franchises into the ground. Games like Zelda or Mario generally only come once or twice a generation.

Probably. I hope they dont change too much though. It doesnt need drastic change. The foundation is pretty much as good as it gets and no-one else does Zelda-type games anyway. Hard to feel burnt on a winning formula that only comes out every once in a while. Bring it on!!!Thunderdrone
Oh come on, Thunder.

Star Fox: Adventures (Did you forget this one? I know it's a Nintendo IP, but Rare did put a lot of Zelda-esque gameplay into it)

Beyond Good and Evil

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy

All of these are great Zelda-esque games. But I think Ubisoft Montpellier and Eurocom did better than Rare at it.

yeah except that the controls aren't tacked on this time.

Exactly, the game is going to be designed with WM+ controls in mind which means that the combat and a chunk of the level design can't be played with a normal controler therefore no option to do so.

But still, in GoldenEye you have the option which means that you could argue motion/IR is tacked on as it's possible to complete the game with a normal setup. So from a design perspective it might be a gimmick, like TP, but to me, and especially with FPS games, the new control schemes actually enhance the experience alot and it's more fun, I'm not the competetive speedrunner type who will ragequit Wii just because it failed to read one motion or something, that's just silly, I play games to have fun and to enjoy the experience.

Yes SS is what TP "should" have been but for what TP is, I loved the Wii control setup because it worked fine and it made me realize the potential of Wii's technology back then. Motion or not, TP is the best Zelda game to me, mostly because it has the best temples. So yeah pointless controls or not, they are more fun, at least in this case.

It just looks like another Zelda with lame motion controls, I wish it would come out for GC like TP, so that I'd actually be able to play it without getting annoyed by the motion controls.

Trolling aside, voice acting will not innovate the series. I doubt Nintendo can effectively use voice acting in Zelda, given the stagnation of the series' plot and nintendo's previous history with voice acting.
