How is pre-Revolver Beatles? and I have Pet Sounds also. It has a really great booklet explaining the album and songs along with it.

aaronmullan

I like all of the Beatles catalog, however Revolver and after are my favorites.

Pre-Revolver, their music is more of that early 60's pre-psychedelic pop sound.  The lyrics are more pop based as well.  I would say if you like Pet Sounds/Brian Wilson - Smile, you would dig the earlier Beatles cd's.  great finely crafted tunes with fantastic vocal harmonies.

If I trusted eBay I would, but Charlie Dominici (DT's original singer) is selling some of his stuff on his eBay account. An original unopened copy of When Dream and Day Unite one of the few to be known in existance and a an unopened copy of the Afterlife single

Was so hard to find in Australia that I couldn't. (Okay I just tried JBHifi!)

But even when I bought it from Amazon there were delays, but after the epic several year quest it is finally mine!

I've been listening to some of my 5.1 audio dvd's like King Crimson 'Court Of The Crimson King' and Porcupine Tree' 'Stupid Dream' all I can do is say wow!

I should have done this ages ago, I was just missing this one piece. :P

The main stereo in the house has become a mono. :P (One of the speakers has probably become unplugged, but it's hard to get to so has not been plugged back in!)

Luckily it can pretend to be a stereo still. Every time it does that my mind is blown. :P

The Cash flu I had turned into Gram Parsons pneumonia.

I went out yesterday to buy the cure:

lol, yeah Johnny spread to Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, as well as Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds which then led me to listening to PJ Harvey again. :P

PJ Harvey is on Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds 'Murder Ballads'.

I couldn't help myself from getting these today:

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds ~ 'Tender Prey'

PJ Harvey ~ 'White Chalk'

Johnny hasn't lead to anyone yet for me. But earlier this year Fever Ray led to The Knife, which led to Royksopp which led to Lykke Li. :3

:D yes it is, finding it used for $5 made my day. I was listening to it on last.fm 'on demand' before they took it away.

I need to get 'Songs in the Key of Life' next.

I try to avoid greatest hits collections too.  I usually like listening to albums as a whole, not compilations.  I get pretty lucky finding things downtown, if I get too impatient I use amazon.

The Melissa Etheridge cd just came out & aaronmullan recommended a good cd by The Mars Volta and I'm digging it. :D

I got a couple more Grateful Dead cd's, called 'Dick's Picks' which are complete concerts, or parts of a couple shows from the Dead's archives. Their live shows were way better than their studio recordings. Each set contains three discs worth of music. :D

My favourite Mastodon album is Blood Mountain, but people seem to prefer Leviathan (which sounds less accessible to me), and Crack the Skye is more progressive and has longer songs. My favourite Opeth album is either Morningrise or Ghost Reveries, but Ghost Reveries, along with Damnation and Watershed, is the most accessible of the two.

There's this guy I met on last.fm who is always listening to The Grateful Dead. So it inspired me to pick up some of their live shows. Mostly the Dick's Pick's from their archives.

I doubt they would appeal to anyone that isn't a Dead fan, but I'm so addicted to these damn things now.

 so, I bought four more:

Vol. 10Vol. 12

Vol. 17Vol. 22
