I disagree. There's plenty of great modern mainstream bands. They're different from some of the mainstream 90s, but music is supposed to change, and the change isn't at all any worse.
Don't be one of those people who hates modern mainstream because it isn't older mainstream and it's new without proper reason. Of course, if you have proper reason, then disregard what I said, but don't have no good reason!Â
Most people other than a few people specifically listen to one (or two) broad music genre and therefore I dislike everything else and only support popular music that fits into that box.
For the genres I don't like, I usually have some sort of respect towards them, even when I don't like them. I don't like jazz, but I can respect it. Not a fan of electronic, but I appareciate.
The only ones I don't respect at all though are country and the generic, effortless pop music.

i respect the technique and talent you need to have to play good jazz, but i am not a fan of it. Country, pop and most of the rap today is outter crap. I could never get into stuff like Death Metal either even though those who play the instruments for the bands are probably really good at themÂ

I listen to plenty of metal (including 2 of the 3 you mentioned), but death metal just annoys me. Too much focus on those deathly vocals and all the stuff sounds much too similar. Much more into... well, the not-death metal type of metal.

*shrugs* I do not know. I think the VGAs could be better. For example, why is there no best of PC catagory? Why is there a stupid "fueled by the Dew" award? Why is there no "best of MMORPG" catagory?
