Can't answer, only played 1st 2 gens, don't care about the rest.mitu123I lost interest in watching the Pokemon Anime after the 2nd Generation, I know that. I also stopped playing any Pokemon games for a while, but then I started playing them again, starting in late October last year, I started on Platinum, then Soul Silver, and then White. Stopped in the beginning of April though.

I stopped watching the show a long time ago too and even some movies.
3 gen was which ones again? Diamond? horgen123credit goes to toph_girl for this
Okay... I've played 1st, 2nd and 4th gen then. I got Yellow, Silver, Pearl and Soul Silver.horgen123The best 3rd gen game is Pokemon Emerald. It has the Battle Frontier island challenge, making it one of the most interesting pokemon games.

I didn't bother with any of the new pokemons there though, kept it to 251 that were there originally.

I liked most of the 3rd gen pokemon just fine. Granted there were some bad ones. Â
Yea, there's always gonna be some bad ones.I wouldn't say that just because I like all of the original 151.Â

That happens to, although not often. I have no complaints with the first gen.Now that I've played Pokemon Black, I say either Gen 2 or 4 is the weakest. Still not sure which is the worst. :Pkoolkat14Why you didnt like Gen 2? D:

The only thing I didn't like about the second generation were the baby pokemon.Â
Other than that they had good pokemon, 16 gyms and a worthy final challenge.
Since it picks up after the events of the first game it also feels like a true sequel. From the 3rd generation on they stop letting you go to the previous regions, former events are ignored and the same formula is used in every single one.
That's probably why the 2nd generation is my favourite. It has the most epic feel and there's more to do than any of the games have had since.Â
I agree with this completely, the 2nd one was the most fun since you could go to two different regions and get 16 badges, made the game longer and more fun. Generation 3 was where they got off on the wrong foot, though is probably the least terrible, however the problem was the pokemon game makers kept going off in the wrong direction after generation 3, and their 5th one was just... horrendous. The only thing I didn't like about the second generation were the baby pokemon.Â

Although then again you have to consider that the original pokemon were the ones that plenty of us grew up around. We'd need someone younger to give us their perspective on the newer pokemon and what they think. julian_jr
No we don't. We're more than capable of judging the designs of the newer pokemon. Â

It does whether you like it or notIt really doesn't.Â
The major problem with the newer pokemon is that they try too hard with them. The result is that they look like they came out of a bad children's cartoon.Â
The older designs are still good because they're simple and elegant. In a lot of cases they look like what they're based on, but it works. Take Yanma for instance. It's a stylistic dragonfly. Then look at Yanmega. It's the same thing, but after an artist from an "extreme" 90s comic got a hold of it. The result is that it doesn't look good. It's like they were trying way too hard to be "edgy" and "cool."
1991-2000>>>>>>>>>>2001-2010+2011, just saying. In case those are pointing in the wrong direction, 1991-2000 pwns 2001-2010+2011.Toph_Girl250I also really miss watching Pokemon on TV every morning before going to school
I loved all the generations, but I think gen 2 had the least pokemon good for competitive play. The only ones were Scizor and Tyranitar.Naveen196Don't forget Shuckle the tank
I love Pokemon that require a special object to evolve, very interesting. Like how Scyther needs a Metal Coat. I think the same also applies to Onyx into Steelix. Toph_Girl250Those could be such a pain to get tho!
At first I was gonna say gen 3, because that's when I completely stopped following the show. But when I played the game it was pretty good.
I'm going with Gen 4 as being the worst. Gen 5 has a ton of sucky pokemon, don't get me wrong, but Zekrom and that Karate pokemon are pretty cool. In fact, every fighting type in the game is a good addition to the type itself.
To me, the starters in Gen 5 look like better versions of the Gen 4 ones, but at the same time, both Gen 4 and 5 are like rip offs of Gen 3.
The Gen 4 legendaries were OP in theory. I mean, they were basically gods. That was kinda cool, but their designs weren't as good as the newest gen imo.
I thought Gen 2 was the best though. The starters were all solid, and basic looking creatures, like Gen 1. The game was easily my favorite and was a huge step above the first games. The legendaries were flawless. Lugia got a great movie to show off in, and everyone remembered Ho oh tying in to the first episode...genius.
Gen 1 is just cIassic, so you can't hate on it. Except now ya have to question whether or not they were trying to top Mewtwo for the past 3 Gens.
Edit: I almost forgot, Gen 4 had good music and Garchomp, so I can't hate that much.
Gen 1 = Gen2 > Gen 3 (only because the pokemon all looked like they belong in their region, they have a tropical feel) > Gen 4 = Gen5.

That's actually one of the gameplay mechanics that just annoys me. Like trading pokemon to evolve them.Â

I hate the trading one. Yeah I do agree on that, the four trading ones I believe are Kadabra, Graveler, Haunter, and Machoke. They should be able to just friggin' evolve to their last forms regularly at a certain level like many others, and not require a trade. Please Log In to post.
