It's not that I can't tell, it's that I won't. I'm not proud of it, and it's a very silly thing to be good at. Useful, but mock-worthy. Saying it makes me feel like a pompous brat, and I don't want anyone to ask me to prove it.

Oh, you serious? :? Who taught you that? Bad teacher! Whoever it was. No, commas are pauses only. You need to capitalize names, like you did, but that's all. Oh! Wait, yeah. If you're sepearting two ideas with the word "but", you always need a comma before that. Like what I just did or "I went to walk the dog, but he ran away." I can't come up with a sentence you don't need to use the comma with off the top of my head, but if it's not seperating two ideas then it's fine.
