I think Mass Effect may be a bit more inventive, but Metal Gear has shaped the gaming industry again and again, thanks to that top of the line story. Only one game is superior, and not due to story.

The first point is the cinematic storytelling. There was no game before it that focused that much on providing a good story. Even the first arcade games were ahead of their time.

It isn't talked about so much in every conversation for no reason. MGS was the first popular game to fully incorporate cinematic storytelling and changed the industry because of it... I believe games would have progressed slower if not for MGS.

Both ME and MGS are amazing though.

Both really, the main story is the best i have played through and on par with FFX (my favorite game). The backstories just add more depth and make the story even better
