I wonder, in comparison to Bleach, if Claymore has escalated better over the course of the series.

Claymore cannot be compared to Bleach. Quality aside, Claymore's themes are much more mature, despite both being published in a shounen magazine.

Bleach's is far more elaborate, while Claymore leans more towards realism while still maintaining the supernatural elements. I guess it ultimately depends on who you ask. Personally, I prefer Claymore's style in that aspect.
