The Play N' Trade wasn't even in the city I live in, but rather a few cities away. The Play N' Trade there wasn't even open very long. Just a few months. I wonder why.TAMKFan
Maybe it didn't have enough business, the one that's a city away is still active after all these years.

I just realize I haven't played handhelds this gen as much as previous gens.

Yeah, probably not.

I didn't even really play handhelds at all, until last gen.

Nintendo Game Boy was the 1st handheld I played on and later I ended up with a Game Boy Color. Last gen I did more handheld gaming with GBA than both console and PC at some points thanks to a variety of games and one of them being Pokemon, that game series was so addictive I honestly put it ahead over many games in replay value, these games are insanely long when it comes to catching all those dang Pokemon and doing a crapton of battles across many areas.

Only quite recently I've played some original Game Boy games, though the 3DS' Virtual Console. Then I also played a few GBA games on my DS.

Last year or somewhere around there was when I first downloaded the Virtual Boy Advance on my computer and revisited games I used to play in my childhood. :P I also liked visiting CoolROM.com to download games for it.

I'll be getting that game on the same day I get my 3DS XL.

I already got Super Street Fighter IV for it, and I also got Sonic and the Secret Rings for Wii, NBA Street Homecourt and Bayonetta for PS3.

I'll probably review them both sometime. I was surprised GS gave NSMB2 only a 7. I know 7 is still not really a low score, but I would have thought this would have gotten an 8.5 or a 9. Also check my comment on the review here. You see, I talked about this with you before.

I never thought this game would get a 9.0 or maybe even a 8.5, I predicted an 8.0 after GS's recent scores and wow it's lower than I thought.

Yeah I saw that comment, and I quite amazed at how some gamers are. It's a sequel, do they want a completely different game? If so, get one that isn't a sequel, because when it comes to sequels, you know what to expect: More of what the previous game had with some changes.

I can understand if they make the game worse that way, but when it's not worse, what is there to complain about?

Yeah, I see this often and I've really gotten sick of it. I mean, they are even trying new things in NSMB2 and yet, people still complain that it's too similar to the other games. I wonder why some gamers have become like this. It really bothers me.

Yes, they do.

I finally got Saints Row 2 earlier. I wanted Saints Row: The Third more, but it was $45 used in GameStop, while Saints Row 2 was $18 used and I didn't have enough money on me, so I just went with Saints Row 2. I'll probably still get Saints Row: The Third later on this year.

From what I've seen, most people prefer Saints Row 2 over the first one and so do I.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 was released today and I should be getting it later, if my local Walmart has it in stock. They don't always get games on release day.

You're going to have quite a lot of gaming to do, nice.

I'm surprised about your nearest Walmart TBH, then again I believe my Kmart is like that but I usually don't shop there now.

So, Walmart didn't have the game earlier. I'll look again later. And yes, I do have a lot of gaming. Let's not forget about Tekken Tag Tournament 2, which comes out in September. I still need to pre-order it and will have to make it quick.

Wow, Sleeping Dog's melee combat is exactly like the Batman Arkham games, with the addition of manually grab people and use the enivronment as your weapon, I'm shocked TBH.

Yeah, with the success of those games, it's no surprise to see more games copying them. I've seen gameplay videos of The Amazing Spider-Man and Captain America: Super Soldier and the gameplay in them is like the Batman: Arkham games too.

That is a good thing seeing how I like this kind of combat.

Have you seen Injustice: Gods Among Us vids? It looks like MK 2011 from a gameplay front. I have an eye on it if I want it or not.

Yes, I have. Since they are both fighting games developed by NetherRealm Studios, it's no wonder they play like each other. That's a good thing, since I really enjoyed MK9. I'll have to check out Injustice: Gods Among Us after it comes out.

One of the few future fighting games I look to have interest in.

As you can see, I'm doing more story driven games, so games like sports, racers and fighters won't be as top priority to me and why I get them later.

I'm not much of a story person when it comes to games. I really wonder why some people care about story so much in video games these days.

Seeing how you aren't a story driven person you wouldn't know, at least not figuring out why. Gameplay is more important, but a good story helps too. As you can see many games nowadays focus a lot on story with cutscenes and all to tell one so it's obvious the games are doing this because the devs made it that way and gamers will follow the story too. Story also helps enjoyment too and immersed players in the gaming world the same way books and movies do. People enjoy games differently from one another so while some don't care for it it's obvious that story can help others and a great one can make people play the game more to see what happens next even though people obviously play it for the gameplay. People want to know what happens to characters the same way in movies and books so it's obvious that the story makes it so that you want to keep playing.

Also, it's better for backlogs. As fun as it is to fight, shoot, and explore in multiplayer, those are for just enjoyment which is a great thing but it does get in the way of backlogs with story driven games. If I played more Tekken or Battlefield, my other games won't get done. With campagins, unless the game is terrible, you'll have a point to play it for more than just enjoyment like you do for no story and multiplayer in games: It's to experience what happens in the timeline of the characters. With stories you can have the same enjoyment of playing just for fun and to be entertained by how the story flows, so that's a win-win in that area.

Gaming has changed and so has various gamers. I care more about gameplay, it's why I also play games with no stories, but I would love a story too because games are trying to do more as well. Like I said people are different, enjoy games differently and they enjoy what's given to them. If a story is good, they'll enjoy it, in fact, it can help them like the game more because they know how much care the devs went into making the game, at least on a story front. Story can also increase replay value too if there are alternate paths and endings. People have a right to care about the story in games due to how the games are now, but they should always care about gameplay more.

Also, why do you think so many characters get talked about? Because of their actions for what they did in the games.

It's hard not to judge when games can be so story focus, take Heavy Rain, that game is certainly focused on the story a lot even though the gameplay is pretty much exploring at times and has numerous quicktime events, not to mention all those cutscenes you watch.

Yeah, just because a game has a bad story or little to no story doesn't make the game bad. Mario games don't have deep stories and yet they are praised because of the gameplay. People who judge a game about anything else over gameplay is doing it wrong IMO because you know, the purpose of a game is to play it. It's like picking graphics over gameplay, and honestly, I don't like that. Even ugly games can be still good due to the gameplay.

Games aren't books and movies, so it's best not to judge them like one, games just incorporate story elements to add more to the game, but the whole game shouldn't be all about the story that you should judge on, the gameplay should count more of course because it's a game after all. They're interactive so of course gameplay counts, movies are just to be watched and books are just to be read so it's still silly to compare games to them due to being so different.

Well, I've seen people doing that, even with games that usually aren't too story-driven, such as fighting games. You do make really good points here though. I think that even graphics are more important than story in games too, but of course, gameplay is more important than both of them.

People who complain about non story games lacking a story are playing the game wrong. Graphics like story is another subject that I can go into that is also subjective in ways when talking about what to play because of looks and art direction and such. Technical graphics are more on the objective side definitely when comparing graphical detail to games. Like Crysis 1 looks better than Metal Gear Solid 1 and such due to better textures, character models, lighting, etc.

Nice, bet you enjoyed the game a lot.

Yeah an open beta would had been better. 1st, tomorrow I will know if I'm accepted or not and then the beta starts on the same day Tekken Tag Tournament 2 comes out funny enough and ends on the 18th.

Yeah, I did. And now I have just went my first day without playing it since I bought it. Although, I plan to go back to it soon to complete more Activities and stuff.

Oh, I see. Speaking of TTT2, I'm really hoping it'll arrive here on release day. That doesn't always happen with online pre-orders.

Lets hope it doesn't arrive late! Looks like that Double Dragon Neon game is coming on the same day as Tekken for 10 bucks. Finally good to see Double Dragon in 3D!

I finally got a new PS3 controller and it's awesome, I love the triggers, how the cable is way longer than the original PS3 controller, how most of the buttons glow, etc. I should take a pic.

The PS3 controller has the slickest look to it from all the controllers I've seen.

IMO I put Double Dragon Advance over the other Double Dragon games and it's the least talked about one, shame really.

Same of how I put the arcade Battletoads games over the rest even though it's not really known that well.

It's rare for the least talked about ones to be the best. Also, Gamespot reviewed Anarchy Reigns by importing it.

It's so close, I can't wait for you to tell me all about it.

I also question some of the ratings certain games get, like some shouldn't be M-Rated at all.

The Dead or Alive games, for example. Everything in them could pass for Teen. I mean, bikinis and stuff in a video game shouldn't equal an M rating.

Yep.

Games like Perfect Dark and Halo series don't need the M rating at all, no f word, barely any bad words, minimum blood compared to most games, no actual gore, no sexual content, really no drugs, etc.

Funny enough Gears 2 and 3 have the option to turn off foul language and gore to make it seem T rated.Â
