WWE.com is reporting a double-murder suicide. This is extremely sad and I hope not true. I don't think a man who loves his family like that, or woman for that matter can do that to their family. My first thought was carbon-monoxide poisoning. Thought his son could of got it(emergency, why he left Vengeance) and while there he and his wife get it.

I came home at about 9:30 and showered to finally turn on the TV a little over 10 o clock. I was devastated. William regal was crying and there was a memorial banner on the screen. I was in shock.

Vince definitely did the right thing in this situation. And I respect him for doing it. Death isn't a joke, intended to or not, it will hurt people.

I hope Vince can look back at his feeling right now, and think of the people he possibly made feel like he does right now when the marks believed that stuff. It's disgusting.

i do not believe in a murder/suicide situation when it comes to this tragic news. what with there being citations of his wife and son coughing up blood a few days ago. besides, his family was his inspiration. assuming that he'd go through with such a gut renching action like that, is almost a spit to his legacy. he was the best wrestler this industry has ever seen. benoit WAS the reason why i started to watch this sport. i'm not one for the after life, but i hope he and his family are in a better place, now. RIP, canadian crippler. you will never be forgotten.

I'd like to say R.I.P to Chris Beniot. I can't exactly say he was anywhere near my favorite wrestler ( in the shape he's in in WWE right now ) but when he was hot, the Crippler Crossface was a beast. He was a legitimate wrestler in a sea of character based talents ( which isn't exactly a probablem becuase I'll mark for a Stone Cold ). And he used his in ring ability to get him to where he is ( was? ) now. I loved him as a heel ( hated him at the time because he did it so good ) and the tootheless agression thing was awesome. I can say that the past few years in WWE haven't been as good as they should'nt have been. Including the title run ( which I honestly only care for for sentimental value just like RVD's and Rey Mysterios ) but that really didn't stop him from being part of the backbone of the company. Too bad he couldn't help groom guys over in ECW. I'll always remember him for his toothless agression and the Crippler Crossface.

On a darker note, I'd like to say that ( and this is an assumption and I might be wrong ) you don't know Beniot personally. You don't know his family, you don't know much of anything about his personal life. All you know is his in ring persona and what he tells you, which may or may not be true. Don't completely rule the whole murder-suicide thing out. It's hard to believe until you realize that you really don't know much about beniot. Not specifically directed at anyone.

Edit: The WWE Article calls it a double murdersuicide also:

http://www.wwe.com/shows/ecw/superstars/chrisbenoit/articles/benoitupdate

According to lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope, of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, in Fayetteville, Ga., the deaths of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel were the result of a double murder-suicide, WWE.com has learned.

Benoit failed to appear both at Saturday's live event in Beaumont, Tx., and WWE's Vengeance: Night of Champions in Houston Sunday night, after informing WWE of a family emergency. Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family.

Authorities representing the Sheriff's Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoit's new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. WWE was notified of the discovery at approximately 4 p.m.

At 10 p.m. Monday night, Lt. Pope held a press conference in conjunction with Scott Ballard, the district attorney for Fayette County. The press conference officially ruled authorities' findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home.

WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

The three bodies have been received by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's crime lab, in Decatur, Ga., where autopsies will be performed Tuesday morning. Toxicology reports will not become available for at least two weeks.

WWE.com has further information relating to both the investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff's Department has requested that WWE.com not release any additional details at this time.

This is quite scary, and bizarre situation right now with this whole double murder-suicide thing. I'm not sure what to think. I am very confused right now and on top of that still shocked over the death of a WWE Superstar. Tonights Raw was beyond strange and I can only imagine what ECW on Sci Fi is gonna be like tomorrow.

Exactly, this is all just speculation right now. Nothing has been proven yet so I'm not gonna say anything about it. None of here know what went down. Nothing has been proven.

Sources in the Fayette County Police Department have told Dave Meltzer that they are now working under the theory that Chris Benoit killed his wife on Saturday, his son on Sunday, and then himself on Monday. Benoit's body was found in his weight room, his wife's body was found in the living room, and his son's body was found in his bedroom.

Im not going to make any judgement whether benoit killed his family or not.

Benoit was a great technical wrestler and was actually fun to watch. The triple threat match at Wrestlemania XX is my favorite match of all time. I really can't say anything about the man that was negative. Not because hes dead but, I really think there was nothing to criticize him on. He was the next Bret Hart in technical abilities.

RIP Chris, Nancy, and Daniel Benoit. You will truly be missed by all the fans.

Taken from TMZ.com:

My second cousin is an officer with GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigations) and what he's heard in his circle is that Chris Benoit's wife killed their son Daniel, called Chris and told him to rush home because of an emergency which is why he missed last Sunday's Vengeance PPV. Upon arriving home Benoit killed his wife in a rage for the death of his son and then killed himself Monday morning. His wife's body was found in the master bedroom, strangled with the cord from an alarm clock. The son's body was found in his room appearantly suffocated with a garbage bag. Chris then wrote a suicide note explaining what had happened, apologized to his family, his other children (from a seperate relationship), and his fans. He the fashioned a slip-knot noose from from rope taken from the garage and hung himself from the ballaster in the foyer of his suburban Atlanta home.

If thats a lie, whoever wrote that is an extremely sick person.

I really don't believe that. He's one of my favorite and most respected wrestlers. He always gave all the effort and care he had for the fans, while I can't speak from experience I highly doubt he would do any less for his family. His sister even showed up on RAW tonight to talk about him. Do you think she would do that if that's what happened? How about all the friends he had that showed up to talk about him? I'm sure they all would have heard this assumption before we did.

this is just....bad. its always sad when a wrestler dies, and even more so when its outside of natural causes. i think that the authorities already know what happend, but are waiting to give a press release or something. in a way i kinda hope that TMZ is right. but im really curious as to what those text messages said. if he left on saturday, then batistafans post makes alot of sence.

sephy. thats just...wow. i almost cant even come up with words to describe how i feel about what you said. the word disrespectful comes to mind. i dont even know. i guess the main thing im thinking of, is if you want to speculate, judge and jump the gun, then might i suggest this thread and board. http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/smackdownvsraw2007/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-36321036&pid=932465

ugh, these comments make me sick.

just say he did do it... or even if his wife did it. there is no way you could possibly imagine what was going through their minds, you have no right to say what they did was wrong. everyone respected benoit as an athlete and even more as a person, people don't just change like that.

again, hypothetically if he killed 100 people it still wouldn't change the fact that he was one of (if not the) greatest wrestlers to grace the ring. it seems selfish to say "i can't see him wrestle anymore so i hope he burns in eternal hell".

As a Christian, I don't accept suicide or murder as a justifiable root of action. I am not going to lie and state that he's going to rest in peace or say that he's going to have eternal rest in heaven because to be frank, he isn't - that is if the double murder-suicide claim is accurate. I sincerely hope it isn't true. I'm no detective but I can sure as hell see some pieces in the puzzle missing especially involving the wife and kid coughing up blood prior to Benoit's return to his home. There's something missing. I'm certain of that. The whole account of what 'happened' in the home in the posts above has me petrified. I'm lost for words...

I actually think that the reason he left Vengeance is because he heARd that his wife killed his son . When he arrived there , he killed her , wrote a suicide note and hung himself the next day . This makes a lot of sense other than HE killed his wife and son .

I know that the news of this double murder-suicide has got everyone wondering what the hell and how the hell this could've happened, but I think that we should just respect the family and leave our thoughts on what really happened out of the picture. I know that alot of people on this board were fans of his (myself included) and now that he's gone, all we'll have left of him are some of those great matches. However, I do feel that we should really stop with all the back and forth of basic 'he said, she said' in regards to the questions surrounding the deaths. Once the autopsies are done today, we'll get a clearer picture of what really went down, no matter how hard it may be to come to terms with it.

I just think that we should talk about how great his life was and not how horrible and confusing everything around his death has been.

With that being said, what's everyone's favorite Chris Benoit moment??

The two that are in my head when I think about his memorable moments, for me outside of his WM XX Title win, I remember when he first joined the Four Horseman and also when he and Bret wrestled as a tribute to Owen Hart.

I hated when he got injured last year, but my favorite moment was probably the day that he came back, the only time I watched Smackdown that month, didnt know he would be on, and win the US championship on his first night back.

Man i agree with you, i don't care if people think that he will burn in hell. They are just idiots and disrispectful, and they should shut up. Just think what Benoit did for the Buisness, he helped "little" men to get accepted in the buisness, and he was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time

the police believe 1 of 2 things, he either came home, killed his wife and kid and then hung himself, or he came home, found out his wife killed their son, and then he strangled her with a phone cord and then hung himself.

either way, can any of you honestly watch another Benoit match and not be disgusted? the cowardice thing he did to his family and then took the easy way out? could any of you say "oh he killed his family/wife/himself, i hope he's NOT in hell...i hope he's in heaven." even if his wife killed their son, Benoit should not have killed his wire (or anyone for that matter). and i hope none of you try to defend that statement, if you came home and your dad killed you mom, would you kill your dad?

the police are almost sure he did it. they found the murder weaponand are not investigating anything but the idea Benoit did it.

just say he did do it... or even if his wife did it. there is no way you could possibly imagine what was going through their minds, you have no right to say what they did was wrong. everyone respected benoit as an athlete and even more as a person, people don't just change like that.

any god fearing person can change on the drop of a dime. also i didn't mean go to hell since i can't see him wrestle anymore. i meant i will never be able to watch another Benoit match without seeing him as a murderer or be disgusted.

disrespectful? Benoit deserves no respect for what he did. he deserves no respect for the career he pissed away.

of course he'll be remembered for everything he's done and the barriers he broke for a lot of guys, but do people still remember OJ Simpson for the great things he did in his NFL career? no. this tragedy is going to tarnish his legacy and when people think Benoit, they aren't going to think "he was a great wrestler," they are going to think, "he murdered his family"

sorry if my comments have offended anyone. but please respect that they are my opinions, disrespectful or not.

edit: like my previous post, i feel this way IF he actually did do it.

One of my other Chris Benoit favorite moments/matches other than his WM XX match, was his "Best of Seven Series" with Booker T in WCW. Their rivalry was an and always be a classic. As for the moments, I go with him joining the Four Horsemen and getting that recognition that he deserve and winning the 2004 Royal Rumble match.

Other honorable mentions to his great matches, that I enjoy are: Chris Beniot vs. Kurt Angle on Smackdown! and at the Royal Rumble 2003, Chris Beniot and Kurt Angle vs. Edge and Rey Mysterio in a 2 out of 3 Falls match from Smackdown!, Chris Beniot vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin from Smackdown!, and many others that I can't think right now.

oh and the TMZ.com article is wrong. Dave Meltzer posted this:

by Dave Meltzer

Sources in the Fayette County Police Department are now working under the theory that Chris Benoit killed Nancy on Saturday, son Daniel on Sunday, and then killed himself earlier today.

Benoit was found dead in his weight room. Nancy was found dead in the lving room. Daniel was found dead in his bedroom, accordig to an unnamed source in the department.

Lt. Tommy Pope told ABC News "the instruments of death were located on the scene," but didn't specify what those were or where they were found. Pope said the department was not actively searching for any suspects outside the house.

just say he did do it... or even if his wife did it. there is no way you could possibly imagine what was going through their minds, you have no right to say what they did was wrong. everyone respected benoit as an athlete and even more as a person, people don't just change like that.Mu5uk0

i don't want to sound disrespectful, but are you justifying murder? are you justifying killing a 7 year old boy? and people DO change like that. what do you think drives good people to do bad things?

just because we don't know what was going through their minds....do you think that doesn't mean we should be offended or disgusted at what they did? and what was "going thru their mind" is that same thought pattern that would probably make a person change like that.

if it's true, what he did will tarnish his career. he isn't Chris Benoit "The Canadian Crippler" anymore, he's Chris Benoit "The Canadian Murderer." that is what people will remember.

Until we get a full picture of what actually went on, I honestly believe that Benoit's name won't be remembered for his legacy in the ring but instead - remembered for being a murderer. As Gary said, if this is all true, he really has diminished his wrestling achievements and I think it may just have ruined his chance to get into WWE's Hall of Fame. Based on the multiple 'sources' going around and the fact that WWE.com pretty much verified a double murder-suicide scenario, I'll be very surprised to see how much more'bizzare' the whole matter can get.

I also wonder if Chavo will think about what he said last night about trusting Benoit with his own wife and kids after all this.

I think that's pushing it just a bit too much.... People will definitely remember the fact that he did this to his family (if the early reports that are out are true, which I tend to think that they probably are) but I don't think that it's going to make people (most people anyway) think of him as a murderer over a great wrestler if they first hear his name or see his picture.

I agree with you Gary in the fact that if he did do this to his family like it's been said, then he'll be in hell and I won't have any problems with it. Killing your family like that, especially your child, is absolutely horrible and despicable in every sense of both the words, but this one single and tragic incident will not make me judge the man's entire life or career.

Again, with that said, I will remember Chris Benoit as the man who took pride in the fact that he could out-wrestle almost any person that he got in the ring with. I refuse to let this past weekend's events effect my thoughts on him being the greatest technical wrestler of our time, and when you think about.... one of the last of a dying breed.

look, assuming whether or not chris went through with murder/suicide at this early point in time is just sickening. what is being brought forth just isn't adding up. chavo claimed to have spent the night at chris's house seemingly friday night. then they spent the entire day together saturday, enjoying dinner. reports claim that he killed daniel on that very same day. somehow, i'm not buying that murder. while the second report, being that his wife killed daniel, then he came home to kill her, seem more clear, i don't even believe that.

have you ever thought for a second, that this double murder/suicide could have been on nancy's part? she killed daniel, then called on chris to come home from the vengeance PPV. he arrived and learned of the news, maybe going to call the police shortly after. then boom. his wife kills him, then herself. i'm going to sit here and wait, yeah, but i won't let people automatically write off one of, if not THE greatest wrestler of our time. give it time, wont'ya?

I definitly see what you are saying with your theory, and I hope that you are right. But we will not know what really happened until the autopsys are finished. WWE.com says they will be done on tuesday.

WWE.com have pretty much removed Benoit from every aspect of the site apart from the main headline...the whole McMahon 'death' fiasco is back up...I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Benoit 'accused' if they now decide to continue the storyline angle involving Vince's alleged death.

anything is possible i guess. but in everything that i've been saying, i'm saying "IF HE DID IT." i'm not saying i believe he killed them both and then himself or whatever, i'm saying the police are thinking that or he at least killed his wife and everything i've said are in the sense that he "if did do it, then ______"

whether Benoit did it, his wife did it, somone unknown 3rd party, it's all tragic and i think it would do some good if we just took a step back and waited for more conclusive reports came in. i won't say anything more about the possibilities.

I believe Chavo said that it was the week before in which he spent the night at Benoit's house.

But look, at some point when the news was still early to me, I would've been on your side, but look. Benoit failed to appear at two Saturday live events and then the Vengeance PPV. Yes, it's not confirmed yet that Benoit did this...but put two and two together here. The WWE took down everything reguarding Chris' personal life and it looks like even his wrestling career now too. All his merchandice is gone from WWE Shop...and in that one article on WWE.com it says that they have more info but were asked not to release it. This doesn't look good.

If this Vince storyline continues... I am DONE with the WWE. I dont care how the Benoits died...they died. Death should not be faked. If I see it on TV, I swear it is the last WWE program I watch for a LONG time.

Yeah I just saw that. He's barely on the main page at all.

Guess it is a White Wash, Black Matker combo going on.

Just Erase him from the record books for the forseeible future.

Think about it this way...Would you Glorfy a Possible Murderer? And it don't matter what your personal opinnion is on that, He is considereda suspect at the moment. untill the facts come in....Or ever even found, Thats the way things will be.
