i thought the ppv was good, i give it a 8.5/10

but i didnt like the fact that matt hardy got k.o. and i thought it was messed up that kurt survive a rock bottom, and a stunner. and i thought shawn was gonna win!, and by the way, i thought eddie vs rey was damn good!

I give the PPV a solid 6.5 out of 10. Average quality to be honest.

TNA PPVs' are way better and worth a whole lot more than WWE PPVs'. :roll:

As I said earlier, please let this be Hogan's last match. Its a good note to go out on, thanks to HBK's miracle work. With it being obvious that HBK is going back to a face and, thus ruining my dream Wrestlemania main event, the outcome bothers me less. But please, let this be Hogan's last damn match... Otherwise, if you are contemplating buying a replay of this PPV, do yourself a favor and take this advice, get TNA's Sacrifice instead and bask in the glory of Joe vs Styles!

Link256's Review of SummerSlam 8-21-05

OJ/Benoit: the match was not that very good and obviously was too short, but in a way...I am glad they killed the match before it become too boring. Also, Benoit is US Champion, so that makes me happy. Benoit is awesome in the ring, but he can only do so much with crap such as OJ. Overall, I would give the match a 5 out of 10.

Matt/Edge: I knew it was going to be a brawl, but still...WWE should have made this actually wrestling match, as the straight brawling was silly and got boring (could been a much better match if it would have been actual wrestling match). Also, what is up with making Matt Hardy looking so weak, Edge kicked his a$$ and I thought that was bad move by WWE. Finally, what is up with that ending? Because WWE did Halloween Havoc 1999 and Edge won, because Matt lost too much blood. Overall, I would give it 6 out of of 10.

Rey/Eddie: The match was solid, it had nice spots and looks to be end to the Rey-Eddie story-line. Also, the story-line parts help to drag down what could have been better and they made Rey look a little to weak. Overall, I would give it a 8 out of 10.

Eugene/Angle: This match could have been great, as Angle is the best of the best and Eugene has very good wrestling skills, but I felt the match was cut way to short (should have been longer and given more of a chance IMHO). Anyways, Angle and Eugene were still solid enough and the ending looked very good. Overall, I would give it 7.5 out of 10.

Orton/Undertaker: The match felt boring at times, but there were nice spots and entertaining moments in the match and had some drama to it. The match was decent enough though, but the ending was rushed and made orton look weak. Overall, I would give it 7 out of 10.

Y2J/Cena: The match was some what boring at times and not as good as the vegeance match, but it picked up mid-way through the match, had some drama to it and had nice looking ending. Also, I have seen better from both men and they both seem to be off on that match. Overall, I would give it a 7 out of 10.

Batista/JBL: Well, this was not that disapointing, but than again, I was execpting crap and that is what I basically recieved. The match would have been worse, but the weapon elment helped JBL's lameness and was sort of okay. Last couple of the mintues of the match were the best though and I am very reliefed that Batista won (saved the match from being worse). Overall, I give this match a 5.5 out of 10.

Michaels/Hogan: Michaels and Hogan looked very good together. Michaels helped the match big-time and really made the match what it was. The match was simply entertaining, simply because Micahels and Hogan did have cemistry going on and had plent of drama to it. I would have liked to seen more wrestling moves from Michaels, but still non-the-less, the match was great. I thought they made Micahels look too weak, as he did everything to Hogan (including Hogan getting nasty cut and him losing plenty of blood), yet Micahels still lost by only recieving a few-punches, big bott and leg-drop. WTF? Hogan can kick-out of the SWM after losing plent of blood, getting hit with a chair and Micahels doing more damage to him (that Hogan did to him), yet Hogan wins with punches, big-boot and leg-drop, that is not right. :evil:

Anyways, I can forgive, since the match was entertaining and it did save SummerSlam for me (I am still mad at the fact Michaels lost though :evil: ). Also, I wish Micahaels did not shake Hogan's hand, so much for that heel run. Damnit, I wanted heel Micahels and when the balls is finally rolling for that, he goes face on me. :evil: Overall, I would give the match a 8.5 out of 10.

Overall, SummerSlam was disappointment. :cry:

Thanks to the Hogan/Micahaels match and a couple of other decent matches, SummerSlam was worth the $35.00 dollars it cost. Sure, it was disappointing and I was expecting better, but the Hogan/MIchaels match managed to save the PPV and made it worth the money. Thank God for Shawn Michaels, he saved that PPV for me.

On side-note: Please give Benoit as least some decent compention and keep OJ/JBL away from the PPV spotlight.

Overall, I would give the SummerSlam PPV a 7 out of 10. Really, Thank-God for the Michaels-Hogan match, those two at least made the PPV worth it (especially Micahels).

Biggestgeekever's review of Summerslam '05:

1. US Championship match: Chris Benoit vs. Orlando Jordan
Ummm, yeah. Worst match of the night. 12 seconds of Benoit owning OJ pretty much sums up the match.
Rating: 0 stars
Winner: Chris Benoit

2. Matt Hardy vs. Edge with Lita
As expected, this one was nothing but a brawl. This match was okay, but the dumbass finish of Matt Hardy loosing due to loss of blood brought down my rating by 1/2 stars.
Rating: **1/2
Winner: Edge

3. Custody Battle: Eddie Guerro vs. Rey Mysterio in a Ladder Match
With out a doubt match of the night. SO many bumps including Dominic trying to push Eddie off the ladder, but nothing tops Eddie's OWN wife screwing him! I never saw that coming!
Rating: ****3/4
Winner: Rey Mysterio

4. Kurt Angle vs. Eugene
This was very entertaining matchup, in my view, but could have been way better. It was cool seeing Eugene use the Rock Bottom, stunner, and Ankle Lock. Angle was over like hell, take notes WWE.
Rating: **3/4
Winner: Kurt Angle

5. Legend vs. Legend Killer 2: Rany Orton vs. Undertaker
This wasn't as good as thier WM 21 encounter, but was still good to watch. Best part was when Bob Orton came in, lol, for a minute I thought it was Bob Orton senior.:P

Winner: Randy Orton

6. WWE Championship: John Cena vs. Chris Jericho
I enjoyed this matchup, but the main problem was that I already knew who would win. Another bad factor was how abrupt the ending was, it shouldn't have had Jericho controlling the match for the most part and then suddenly BAM, FU and it's over. Bad finish.
Rating: ***1/2
Winner: John Cena

7. World Heavywieght Championship: Batista vs. JBL No Holds Barred
Terrible, terrible, terrible matchup. Just a quick recapping of what Batista did inside HIAC. Best part was Batista ramming JBL through the barricade. You could tell the crowd was waiting for Lesnar, as was I. Well, at least JBL didn't win.

8. Legend vs. Icon: Shawn Michaels vs. Hulk Hogan
This was far better then I thought. HBK really did manage to carry Hogan better then anyone I've ever seen. The crowd was very silent through the whole match, they we're waiting for some sort of run-in, whether it be HHH, Lesnar, or hell, even Bret Hart. If the ending is any indication, it seems SHawn Michaels heel run (if that is a proper word for it) is over. The best Hogan match is a good, long, while.
Rating: ****

Overall: **1/2. It was a pretty mediocre PPV, but it wasn't as bad as the GAB IMO. However, it's jsut about the worst Summerslam I've seen.

Maybe, just maybe, they'll go Christian vs Benoit for No Mercy in the "should be for the World Title, but we'll take what we can get" MOTN.

And yeah, stopping a match for blood loss in WWE today is just an awful way to end a match.

I have been watch live wrestling PPV's since Survivor Series 1998 (about a year after I started watching wrestling), which is still one of my personal favorites to this day.

I agree the Triple H streak was ridiculous, but at least Triple H is great wrestler, unlike the "Wrestling God."

the writers don't give a crap about matt hardy. they only brought him back because it means ratings. egde IS going to be a main eventer and a wwe champ in the next year. this feud will maybe last till the next ppv if matt comes back.

i hope not. the hell in a cell is becoming too common. the undertaker and orton feud needs to rest. undertaker obviously can't keep it going with the younger boys. i'm actually hoping the batista/orton feud works for both. but i'm still disappointed it's not gonna be a batista/eddie feud yet.

Besides, HIAC match is more like a hardcore match these days and is not as fun as the Foley/Michaels days.

I think we will eventually see Batista/Eddie feud and that could very well could be Batista's next feud, but I thinking and hoping it will be Batista and Orton at No Mercy.

i hope the wwe ends the feud on a high note. a possible 5 star match and moty candidate. it would do wonders for both guys if they put on an amazing match. edge would be shown as a true main eventer and could show the fans that he can still take bumps and his neck isn't stopping him. matt could come out of it with his "revenge" and prove he deserves to be in the wwe.

i'm thinking maybe a triple ladder, or a two man TLC. maybe a hell in a cell but those are becoming too common.
