It IS for the Women's Championship.
You win, Link.
Jason Powell says:That is the **** I kept hearing with CM Punk. Hell, I even said that dumb ****, and look what happen there: took Punk several months to recover from that BS."Everyone who pissed and moaned about Swagger losing non-title matches can stop now. They made him look vulnerable coming into the match and then had him score the clean pin. Good booking. There's plenty of time to give him in-ring credibility if they plan on keeping the belt on him and this was a really good start."Razor-Lazor
Not to mention, Punk never did get his revenge on Orton. Rather, it went to go and die in the same place that Paul London is still waiting for his cruiserweight title shot.
And please, I would like someone to show me instance where booking your champion to be a loser has worked?
To call this anything but parody booking is complete BS. Loser =/= Champion
So how is Extreme Rules so far?KevyR
- Tag Team Gauntlet was pretty stupid.
- Rey-Punk was great.
- HHH-Sheamus was pretty good.
- Orton-Swagger was very nice.
- Women's Title match, for a women's match, was flawless.
So how is Extreme Rules so far?KevyR
Not a bad PPV, has had it's moments. Most matches have been pretty solid.
Mercury was in ROH for a while and was in a stable that's gimmick was a bunch of stoners. (it also involved Jay Lethal) You see the link there.VanDerSar01Joey Mercury actually first surfaced in the dying days of ECW in a tag team as Joey Matthews.
He's had a few non-memorable stints in ROH, including being a member of the aforementioned Special K. His more recent stint, I believe, he was in the Age of the Fall.
His most memorable moment in ROH is actually the disasterous Jeff Hardy in ROH match. After WWE fired him in 2003 and Hardy had said in a shoot that he lost his passion for wrestling, he appeared in ROH at Death Before Dishonor (a show I mentioned recently) in a 3-Way match against Joey Matthews and a guy by the name of Krazy K. The ROH fans crapped all over Hardy (Notable "We Want Matt" chant, among the better chants). Hardy was bad in the match, Krazy K was ****ing worse. Matthews, a heel in ROH, became the de facto face. In the end, its a highly entertaining train wreck.
Certainly his career highlight is MNM.
I just hope Joey Mercury is lot better than the lousy reports I heard from his ROH days.Link256Eh, from what I saw, those were exaggerrated. He wasn't bad. He didn't come out flipping so ROH fans **** on him. He wasn't great or anything, either, but he wasn't bad.
Thought he retired, though.
And I finally put together the significance of him in SES. His release had a lot to do with drugs, specifically, as I recall, a painkiller addiction coming off when his face was annhilated in the Armageddon 4-Way ladder match.

Which was pretty stupid.

For that matter, sephy as well.

Yea, it wasn't bad. But it was pretty stupid. lolThey didn't build JTG vs Shad strong enough, I believe.

Let's put it this way - if Punk can make Festus bearable he can do great things with Mercury.

As I recall, sephy was on hand for a Mercury match in ROH and was bored and in line with the other live reports.Maybe lowered my expectations, but I thought he was fine in ROH and I'm pretty sure that's consistent, cause I don't recall having excessively negative feelings on what Mercury was doing in ROH. Could simply be my memory, I also tend to have fond memories of Goldberg matches, so what do I know?
I'm also willing to take a wait and see with Swagger's title run. I haven't given up yet.
Sounds like an interesting PPV thus far, how's Edge-Jericho going? I'm not always crazy about cage matches.
Edge-Jericho is pretty great.
It's like their 'Mania match in a cage, with some cool spots, a more acceptable Edge, and not as many "Spear!" comments.
Edge def. Chris Jericho via pinfall after a Spear.

Do they really deserve it?I'll be surprised if both guys are still in the E this time next year.
Noooo!! Y2J lost!! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Not my Jericho!
Â
Epic Codebreaker should've totally won the match T_T
So far, you guys seem to enjoy Extreme Rules for the most part. It might be a DVD purchase for me.KevyRAll the matches are pretty solid. None of them are really MotY contenders. I'm not even sure I'd rank any of them ****. However, if I were to rate one higher than ***1/2, it would be the Steel Cage match.

The_Dude14
They don', but if they're going to try and make this work, they should atleast use TV time on Superstars to build it :\
I mean... it was really random and they never really focused too much on it... it just wasn't well handled, imo.

Punk-Mysterio and Edge-Jericho definitely get the highest rating, both are matches of the night. I honestly don't think you can pick just one.
Worst match would probably be the Gauntlet... that was just... a waste. Although, they were probably planning to do that or something similiar last Monday. And hey, nothing wrong with Miz getting some TV time :D
The only time I ever saw any value in Cryme Tyme was when they feuded with Jerishow... and well, I've come to chalk that up to Jericho.
If they had never been brought back from when they were first fired, I wouldn't have missed them.
Also, I hope WWE meant to do some building on that tag team situation on Raw, but the volcano squashed that.
I suppose I should just be satisfied that Triple H didn't beat Sheamus and Umaga before finally "putting over" Sheamus, or do some screwy 6-Man. Just annoys me that Triple H cannot simply lose a match anymore. I miss the days when he would sell a ref's push. I miss 2000 Triple H
Still, though, Trips won the match that mattered most (Mania) and I'm still not devastated. Maybe if I actually see this match it will begin to turn me around on Sheamus.
Sheamus isn't terrible. He's a horrifyingly bad champion, but if they put him where he belongs, as a monster heel, then he's acceptable.Razor-LazorSee, I think that's part of my problem with Sheamus. In absolutely no way do I buy Paleness as a monster heel.
Grizzly Man Mike Knox , yeah. Guy that looks like he could go on the DL if he's exposed to direct sunlight without SPF 5000, no so much.
Letting him talk doesn't help.
I have been an Edgehead since his promo with Foley for Summerslam 2008. I will witness Edge go 1-1 in this feud.SonicRenegade84It took you until 08 to jump on the Edge bandwagon? (Was that 08? That seems like 06 to me?)

And that was the promo where Foley told Edge that if he didn't become the monster he once was, Taker would destroy him in the HIAC. Edge then pwned Foley after that.

[QUOTE="The_Dude14"]Letting him talk doesn't help.Link256Actually, of all the problems I have with Sheamus, personally, I like his promo work.Ugh.
I'm surprised they haven't completely ripped off the Austin Powers Lucky Charms joke by now. I probably would have.

He meant Knox.
I started watching in August of '08. I was a 'Taker mark. He was, like, the only reason I watched.
I hated Shawn Michaels at first. I don't know why.
First heel I liked was Edge, when he returned at Survivor Series.
Should I take the lack of talk about Cena-Tista as a good or bad sign?The_Dude14I haven't been paying much attention, but it seems like a typical LMS match. Boring at the start, gets interesting once it's just spot after spot. Cena AA'd Batista through a table, then Batista gave him a Spinebuster through another table.
I hated Shawn Michaels at first. I don't know why.Razor-LazorJerk broke up the Rockers, like, sometime before you were born...
but still... you knew.
Cena wraps Batista's legs around the turnbuckle, duct tapes them together, Batista can't get up, gets counted to 10.
Cena retains WWE Championship.
