Static's Appearance on Piers Morgan Live - Wednesday
*The show's intro theme kicks in and Piers Appears on his set*
Piers: My guest tonight is somebody who works in an industry that has a known history of steroid abuse and steroid-related deaths. The recent Biogenesis scandal in baseball and the recent suspension of Ryan Braun has brought the issue of steroids in sports back to the forefront.
*A short video segment starts to play showing clips of various different athletes that have been identified as steroid users; A-Rod, Ryan Braun, Lance Armstrong, Randy Orton As the video continues, Static off-screen walks onto the set. Static has his hair gelled back and he is wearing a suit w/ white dress shirt and a red power tie. He also has a "WOTU" lapel pin on his jacket and isn't wearing his black and red contacts. So, the video ends and Piers welcome Static on to his set*
Piers: Welcome our guest for the evening, professional wrestler and recently crowned Mr. Money in the Bank for the WOTU title, Static.
*Static walks up to Piers and shakes his hand.*
Static: Thanks for having me, Piers. I'm a huge fan of your show.
*Both men sit opposite of each other at the interview table.*
Piers: You know you aren't the first wrestler we've had on this set. The Rock, Jesse Ventura, and Hulk Hogan have sat in that same chair you are sitting in.
*Static looks down at the chair he is sitting in*
Static: It's an honor I greatly appreciate. Knowing these great wrestlers have sat in this same seat is a humbling experience to say the least.
Piers: Well, to those in the audience who don't know who you are. Tell them a little about your background.
Static: Hello my name is StaticKornSlipX and I am a professional wrestler. I am one half of the current WOTU tag team champions with my partner, Cpman, and a two-time Intercontinental Champion. I am a member of the most polarizing stable in professional wrestling history, Corrective Chaos. I have been employed by WOTU Inc. for just over a year and I've been in the professional wrestling industry just under four years. I come from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. And my overall background in athletics includes amateur wrestling where I was four-time state champion; high school football where I was an all-state quarterback my junior and senior seasons. Also, I am 2nd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Piers: I see that you high school played football; was their ever steroid use by players on your team; including yourself?
Static: I personally, have never taken steroids in my life. So no, I wasn't using steroids in high school. Um, I did however receive pressure from my teammates to start using. Luckily, I had parents who steered me away from them. Like many high school students out there, some who may be watching right now, I was naive at that age. I thought I was invincible. Didn't have the slightest clue that steroid use and abuse was wrong for athletes. I was still at the age where my mind as well as my body were still maturing so I would say I was fortunate to have parents in my life to guide me along that right path.
Piers: Some of your teammates got into steroids. This touches the overall issue with steroids in sports. Do you think these teenagers are getting into steroids because they are getting mixed up with the wrong crowd; or choose to do it to get better, to get stronger.
Static: In all honesty, I believe it's a combination of the two. As athletes, there is always a drive to get better, to beat the competition. And getting stronger is way to do that. To impose your will on your opponent. But sometimes, high school athletes hit a wall...they feel they have peaked or aren't progressing at a pace to their liking. So they look for a shortcut or a workaround....and that's when steroids come into the picture. And that's when you'll probably end up getting drawn into the wrong crowd.
Piers: Let's pause here and go to commercial break.
*The show comes back from commercial break, with the last commercial promoting WOTU's SummerSlam.*
Piers: Welcome back to Piers Morgan. I am here with my guest, WOTU wrestler Static. Let's delve right back into things. So Static, tell me why you think top professional athletes resort to steroids.
Static: Fame, money, or power... most of the time these three things are mutually exclusive. Look at someone like Barry Bonds, he was already a Hall of Fame player before he took steroids. But in 1998 he was overshadowed by two other players, both of which became the face of baseball and got rich because of it. So in envy of their power, fame, and money...he took steroids as well. So in essence, besting the competitions for whatever reason is why these athletes go down that path. Majority of professional athletes know it's wrong but they don't care because they'll get rewarded. And there isn't many disincentives put in place to stop it.
Piers: I want you to take a look at this before and after picture:
Piers: What comes to mind when you look at this picture?
Static: I see a wrestler who abused his body. He put chemicals in his body at doses that will have long term affect on his health. I've met Scott Steiner and I was somewhat surprised he was still alive. It's heartbreaking to look at this picture because the guy on the left looks innocent, almost childlike in the sense. I picture that version of Scott Steiner walking up to the other one saying, "What did you do to our body? Why, man?!?! Why?!?!"
*Static starts to choke up, tears start streaming down his face. In reaction, Piers says in a somber tone*
Piers: Let's go to commercial.
*The show goes to commercial. Okay, back from commercial and Static has regained his composure.*
Piers: We are back from commercial and Static would like to briefly discuss why he got choked up earlier.
Static: Growing up I was a huge Steiner Brothers fan so seeing what Scott did to his body got me a little emotional. I idolized him and his brother, Rick. I don't know....somehow we have to get steroids out of sports. Teach younger generations of athletes that proper nutrition, and zeor chemical supplements, are the way to go if you are looking to get into better shape.
Piers: That's an admirable request. Well, do you ever think steroids will disappear completely from professional wrestling?
Static: I've sometimes thought there was a chance to do just that....but I've come to the realization that will never happen. The WOTU is the leading wrestling promotion when it comes to steroid prevention and penalizing those who are repeat abusers. That was the main reason I signed with them over the TWF where I heard through the grapevine that most of their roster was juicing. I don't want to name names because some of the TWF's old guard is signed with the WOTU. And unfortunately, there is grumbling going on within our roster about what type of culture they may have brought over to our company.
Piers: Are you implying there is juicing going on currently? Static: I can't anymore on that subject. I said more than I should have. Piers: Before we go to our final commercial, I'd like to inform the viewers out there to visit these websites where you can become better informed the risks of steroid abuse.*A graphic flashes on the screen with a list of websites and the show goes to commercial. Commercials end and the show comes back on the air. One of camera is zoomed out on the interview table. And sitting in front of Static is a folded up fabric and top of it sits a Guy Fawkes mask and the inside of it is the only part of it that is visible*
Piers: Welcome back to Piers Morgan Live. I am here with professional wrestler, Static. Well tonight's topic has been a serious one so we decided to lighten the mood for the end of the show. So tell us Static what your character is about.
Static: Yeah, in the business we like to refer to wrestlers' characters as gimmicks. So my gimmick is this enlightened man who is obsessed with blood, chaos, and fire. He is straight up evil to the masses but he is considered a god among a select few AKA the Disciples of Chaos. He wants to teach his competitors a little thing called humility. And only through hard work and besting the greatest in-ring performer of this current generation, Static, can a wrestler truly be deemed worthy of any and all accolades.
Piers: Wow, your character sounds arrogant. Haha.
Static: Hah, that's true but he can be humble at times when it involves other members of Corrective Chaos. They are a clique of individuals with huge egos but they all share a common unifying purpose; chaos.
Piers: I can see why the fans don't like you guys. So what did you bring with you tonight.
Static: Well, I had to make sure I got the greenlight from management and they said yes. So these two items are my newest mask and battle flag. Both of which haven't debuted on WOTU programming but they will both appear on Impact tomorrow night. So here is the world premier of my new flag and mask.
*Static hands the mask to Piers Morgan and Static unfurls the flag:
*Piers places the half red/half black Guy Fawkes mask on his face while Static holds up the flag in front of his body. Piers speaks with his voice muffled*
Piers: Don't forget to check out WOTU Impact Wrestling every Thursday night at 9 on Spike; WOTU Raw every Monday night at 8; and WOTU Smackdown every Friday night at 8 on Syfy. And on August 18th, live from Staples Center in Los Angeles, WOTU presents SummerSlam. Don't forget to tune into tomorrow night for an all new Piers Morgan Live.
*As the show starts to go off the air, Static goes up behind Piers and pretends to put him in a Sleeper Hold. Static whispers out...*
Static: chaos.
*The show goes off the air*
OOC: So yeah, my character is speaking mostly as himself in this promo without his gimmick attached to him. I hope you guys like it.
