Hi, Im a 31 year old grown man with a full beard and mustache. I am 300 lbs. and my arms are covered in tatoos. Anybody know any 16 year old kids who look like that!!!! As i walk up to the Best Buy register with "Hitman" in my hands, i see an old ugly lady.  Then  she asks me for I. D.! Normaly for beer or cigarettes i dont mine because its the law.But for a freakin video game!! This is absurd! I had no child with me, my son was at school. My I.D. was in my truck and not on me at the time. So i walked all the way to the truck and back in to show her my I.D.. I asked to her add the years up, to insult her for insulting me(acting like she cant do math). I said" what 16 old kid looks like a big ugly dude like me. She said it was the law and Bestbuy's policy. I laughed, made her ring me up, then decided not to buy it(to inconvience her) and walked out. Its no big deal but i just cant believe someone would have the nerve to card an obvious adult for a video game. She looked like a relegious person, maybe thats why. Anyway, eff da bittcchh:P

I know - it's rediculous sometimes.

Thankfully - I've never been asked for I.D. (even years in the past), and I'm only now 17.

EDIT: I don't look very old either...

Did you stop to think some stores might have a zero tolerance policy for carding M rated games? I doubt it's the lady's fault, she's just trying to cover her ass so she doesn't get in trouble by a supervisor. In some places they have really cracked down on M rated sales to minors leading to policies like what you ran into. You honestly don't think the lady knew you were of age, of course she did. It's not her fault you don't carry your ID on you. How hard is it to whip something out of your wallet at a register. Get over yourself.

You have to show ID at almost any place to trade in merchandise. You're 18 and don't carry an ID? Sounds like a brilliant plan.

My mom is 60 and got carded at the gas station to buy cigs the other day. S*** happens, some places have strict ID policies. She smiled and felt flattered and showed her ID. It's your perogative not to shop at Best Buy anymore (I doubt you'll follow through with that), but the customer is not always right in your case. You lose, drive through.

Not everyone is as perfect as you genius. Sometimes people forget things or leave their paperwork in their vehicle.

So, you're 31 with a full beard and tattooed arms and swear that you're a full grown man......but forgot your ID in the truck?

And you're complaining about her inconviencing you?

There should be no problem here. Just because it's obvious you're over 18 doesn't mean a dang thing. I would think it a good thing to be ID'd. It means a business is doing it's job. If you just randomly card people because you "think" they're not 18 is going to lead to trouble. If you do it for one person, do it to everyone. It's just common sense.

you also really should have your ID on you at all times.  Another common sense kinda thing to do.

I know it sucks man...and your case is a bit extreme...especially considering that you generally have to be 18 to get tattoos.  But here's my 2 cents...is it worth a little incovenience now to show your ID rather than the store not having a policy and someone underage kid getting a copy of the game making their parents mad enough to contact their politician giving more fuel to the fire to ban those games altogether.  The reason these stores have a policy, screwed up as it may be, is that it's either have the policy or risk not being able to carry "M" rated games because of some Jack Thompson wannabe politician going on a crusade to ban all violent games to "help" kids.

Another note: in the recent past certain agencies have sent out a lot of secret shoppers (some of obvious older age) in certain states to test these polices and a lot of stores got in serious trouble (including fines), and had to resort to implementing things like carding everyone for 18+ games.

It's unfortunately the state we live in now. You can thank Congress for fueling the fire on the war on video games. Things like this are only helping us, instead of banning violent video games alltogether.

But those games have been deemed inappropriate or whatnot for parents similar to R rated movies. you have to be 18 to view those by yourself or to purchase them. Some parents may not find that material inappropriate and will purchase them for their kids, but as a precautionary effort it's a good thing. Just because you think it's not a big deal for video games, some of us do. My kids don't get to play M rated games and I'm glad they can't go out and just buy them.

So are you upset that you had to get your i.d. Or just the fact that you had to show it? Or is it because you were outta breath from the walk to your truck and back? From the sounds of your description of yourself it seems she may have helped you by getting you just that much more excersice... Seriously though why on earth is it such a big deal to show some i.d? Im 19 and gotta show i.d. everytime i want a Mature rated game or see an R rated mivie

I'm glad there's a rating's system. No ratings system, no mature titles. Like in the 50s before movies were rated, they were all G level films. Sure that lady sounded like she was being uptight, but she was probably just concerned about losing her job so I wouldn't take it too seriously. Some 17 year olds have beards and weigh 300 lbs, I'm sure.

That would piss me off too and I would have walked out as well. I think it's bs to have to show a damn id for a 5 dollar credit card purchase or a m rated video game. Best buy sucks, that is why I buy 99% of my games online jsut so I don't have to deal with jackasses in stores.

Anyway, eff da bittcchh:P ytford
Man, I hate dickheads like you who treat people like crap for doing their jobs. Just shut up and show your ID, get your game and leave......There's no need to be ignorant in these situations. I'm sure you're going to insult me back, and that's fine, but ignorance like this cannot be ignored.

I would rather show ID and have all the politicians stop wasting tax dollars on violent game bull$#it than not show id and get our tax dollers used for useless crap. when i was underage i got my hands on games. stop crying and use your brain.

[QUOTE="jacksheets"]Did you stop to think some stores might have a zero tolerance policy for carding M rated games? I doubt it's the lady's fault, she's just trying to cover her ass so she doesn't get in trouble by a supervisor. In some places they have really cracked down on M rated sales to minors leading to policies like what you ran into. You honestly don't think the lady knew you were of age, of course she did. It's not her fault you don't carry your ID on you. How hard is it to whip something out of your wallet at a register. Get over yourself.ytford

You may be right, but guess what? They lost a customer for life! (and i spend tons of money there)Its a cut-throat world out there and the customer is ALWAYS right! They wanna card honest adults, well i can be a dickk too!:P

yeah I would have done the same too! Its a small price to pay for the smiting of ones enemies, and you can go buy it someplace else, ef em! And furthermore why not cut the bee-atches out of the equation, shop online, its way cheaper, down with the middle-man! :)
