ok i know its the start of 2008 but i want to know everyones opinions on what game they think will be game of the year 2008 i think GTA IV all the way!

Ninja Gaiden is Japanese......I've never heard of a Chinese game hmmmmm.

Actually it's an amazing game, but to each his own.

Ninja Gaiden 2
Splinter Cell Conviction
Metal Gear Solid 4
Super Smash Bros Melee

Some of those may have shooting elements, but they are not SHOOTERS.

2008 GOTY is gunna be tuff its gunna be btween GTA IV, Brawl or Metal Gear solid (if its even good :p)

but like this year '08 is gunna be a competive year 4 gaming thats for sure

Why is everyone forgetting Starcraft 2? Blizzard has made great GOTY's here (just RTS's I'm listing).

hope they dont destroy a great game for the sake of people's feeling, i mean the killing of anyone, anywhere kinda gameplay better stay, including kids, if only for realism's sake. or destroy it any other way, but i got faith in bethesda so... blah.

To the guy who had no idea what Ninja Gaiden was and who thought that it was a Chinese game, my deep and sincere apologies. My good friend, you must either be isolated from humanity, blind, deaf, mute and\or Helen Keller or live in a small town of either North Dakota, Alaska, or Montana. Or just a dummy. xD

Anyways regarding the topic of this post: I really cannot give you an answer. Great games like GTA IV and SSBB have come out and many more great games are still to come. However, I do not think that Gears of War 2 will be GOTY.

From what I've seen and heard, it just seems like MORE...of the same. Kind of like what Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 was. But never judge a game until you have played it so I'll cease my rant.

fixed. activision has been involved with all cod games

I have to agree with you GTAIV is a great game and a big contender for game of the year. Which, I believe it could actually take it. But, I also have to agree with the other guys and gals. There's plenty of more games coming out this year, and who knows how they'll be.

But GTAIV, is a great game! it's going to take a lot to top GTAIV, and i mean A LOT!

Cmon people, GTAIV is a great game, but by no means it deserves game of the year, SSBB, MGS4, Fallout 3, Starcraft 2 and Lefft4Dead are simply better, even if they havent come out, GTAIV got the perfect scores only because of the name, not the quality.great_rulo

Till now its been GTA IV. I think that MGS4 will come close, so as Fallout 3. Id like to see Alone In The Dark to be in that list too

Since GTA4 got a 10 of course it has a huge chance of succeding but why not hopew that something will be a worthy contender? I do

And right now , as you said, it is pretty dumb to discuss it since most of the major releases have not yet taken place

There are loads of contendors this year; Tom Clancy's Endwar, COD5, Fallout 3, Force Unleashed, LOTR Conquest, Mirrors Edge, Viva Pinata 2. And I bet I've missed loads of the list still.

For me : Dead Space or Fallout 3

Last years champ was definitely, Bioshock
