If not that then Little Big Planet. I'm shocked I didn't think of a 360 games as GOTY. I'm rarely on my PS3 unless im playing MGS4 or LBP.

I don't think Gears 2 will be because it seems like its just retuning of the original.

uhhhh once again to you.... no GTA IV wasnt even that great, the online was crap because of auto aim, and the story was good and all, but got boring once you beat it.

why in gods name would u make a thread about the game of the present year in the beginning. USELESS!!!

but nearing the end I feel its either going to be Gear2, Fallout 3, or Dead Space.

not sure. Dead Space was great many agreed (I'd say a halo type game with horror, new better additions to game play)

Fallout 3 was cool even tho i personally dont like RPGs (I'd say like a bio-shock type game)

and Gears2 which u never know. once it comes out ppl might slam it down wit a bunch of negativity. but im gonna love it.

My final would most likely be dead space but I'll return in a week with my final.

I think Respectivly the top 10(not in order from better to worst) would be:

1. MGS4-PS3: to me the best game simply b/c it has an unbeatable story, graphics are amazing, gameplay is sweet, and b/c itz simply Metal Gear. Itz replay values are so high i mean you can approach any level however you want unlike games where theres only one way to play thruogh it. Gamespot Socre: 10

2. Gears of War 2-360: Although i dont own a 360 i think this game is bad ass but i heard from freinds its just like the first with minor improvements and some modes. Gamepot score: 9.0

3. GTA4-PS3,360: this game was awesome at the beginning. its way better the other GTA series but i havent gone through the first stage simply b/c itz the same thing over and over(your mission is the usual drive to pick someone up kill the enemies blah blah it getz boring). But exploring the world is fun with the cops and all. Gamespot score: 10

4. Resistance 2-PS3: You've read this about 99X and itz going to be the 100th. come on A LONG Campaign, 8PLAYER Co-OP different from single player, 60 PLAYER ONLINE with NO LAG!!! this game is amazing how you a thousand bullets flying and the freme rate stays perfect. GAmeSpot score: 9.0

5. Fallout 3-PS3,360- i really dont know much about this game except that it has high rating and many pple love it. this game doesnt really appeal to me much but thatz just my opinion GameSpot score: 9.0 8.5(ps3)??

6. SMB brawl-Wii: yeayea wow itz a WII game, but i think its the best game out there for wii and it has a good chance of winning. i kind of find it ironic that the best game for Wii doesnt use the motion crap to play..LOL Game Score: 9.5

7. Need For Speed Undercover-360,PS3,Wii,PS2,etc.: this may be too early to call but ive been a NFS fan since underground 2. Most wanted just made me love the franchise more but then carbon and prostreet let me down...but my face was brought up when it was confirmed undercover was going to be Most Wanted ****.and seeing the trailer it lookz gourgous...i think NFS is the best racing game hands down

8. Little Big Planet-PS3: now this game is sweet...wenever u see a game that is going to be unique it could be a disaster or a keeper and this game is just brilliant..itz good to see something new and LBP delivers big time. GameSpot Score: 9.0

9. Call of Duty 5 WOW-ps3,360,pc: besides the fact that in this game you cant hold your sweet golden ak-47 or a m16 with red dot sight this game is actuaaly pretty good. i do agree that WW2 is getting pretty lame now since i can think of 100 WW2 games out there for any console but this game to me is the best WW2 game out there. GameSpot Score: pending Critic Score: 8.9

10. well for this slot it should be a game of ur choice one that u think might have a chance i for one would put MK vs DC UNIVERSE but the fact that its rated T it scares me but o well.

So heres my nominees and i think these games have the biggest chances. These games are refered to a lot and compared at so it makes sense that fanfavorites plus high scores would make the GOTY. 

I would put the title of GOTY to either Gears of War 2 or Fallout 3. If I had to decide I would say Gears of War 2 because I seriously cannot see anything wrong with it. They improved everything, and I mean everthing. I think that Gamespot's rating system has bone to hell.TOC48

If Fallout 3 doesn't win I will be surprised.  I haven't been this involved in a game for a while.  Kudos for Bethesda for taking the Oblivion formula into a future with guns.  GTAIV is fun, but Fallout 3 is for true gamers.

they gave GTA4 a 10 yes it was engenius at the time put is now just boaring gave halo 9.5 which sould be less. Gamespot cant score to save their life they also praised fifa 09 as best football game ever (or soccer Football was invented before the word soccer so your football shuld be call Brain damage but mint football)

GTA IV isn't GOTY worthy IMO. Why? Because it has no replay value to me what so ever after you've clocked it and multiplayer is a mess. Not that I'm saying it's a bad game, it just becomes worthless after clocking it. Going through and collecting everything in previous GTA's was fun, in GTA IV it's more of a chore.

Now, the real contenders for GOTY, from what I've played and seen (since I don't own a PS3 yet), are Gears 2, MGS 4, Resistance 2 and Fallout 3. My predictions is that it could very well be MGS 4, but what I want to see win it would be Gears 2.

If its Mgs4 then Gamespot is fail, Think it could be a dead heat tie between Gta IV and fall out 3 Should be, Mgs4 that game doesn't deserve a 7 let alone a 10.

Anyone has played MGS4 says its the best game ever. ive played all 3 MGS4 is the only game that deserves a 10, Fallout 3 a 9, and GTAIV was extremely overrated it deserved an 8.5 or 9. If you say MGS4 isn't the best you make yourself look stupid and obviously haven't played it1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think battlefield bad company was my personal game of the year!! awesome multiplayer when the conquest map was released!! also CoD world at war is awesome as a co-op game as well as a single player, not sure i like the multiplayer yet tho!! BTW i own an xbox 360 and haven't played a ps3 and dont like the wII!!

Prince of Persia I reckon. But I'm an artist so seeing the cell shaded concept artwork come to life was always gonna be good.
Saints Row 2 deserves a tip of the hat too imo - was daft from start to finish but in a good way!

Gears of war2 or fallout 3 or, cod5

I honestly think it should be MGS4. Face it, it was stunning in every aspect. Other choices I wouldn't mind winning are Gears 2, SSBB. CoD WaW has a chance, but I don't think it is worthy.
