Halo springs instantly ti mind. I cannot figure out wht is so great about it. IT felt very bland and boring to me. I have not played Halo 3, but Halo 1 and 2 didn't leave me with much of a desire to do so

Gears of War - I do not dislike this game, but it is not "HOLY CRAP!" like it is for everyone else. Maybe it is becauseo f hte disappointing story or maybe it is because of the fact that I played Uncharted Drakes Fortune first. I do not know, but it just does not ring with me

Those are the big thwo that spring instantly to mind

Fallout 3, it didnt follow the original recipe of turn based of the past fallout games. I also hate assassins creed for all the repetitive missions and gameplay. Oh wait, I notice that all Ubisoft games are repetitive. eg. Farcry 2 and Prince of Persia. Sucks.

Gears of War 2, it was a slap in the face to Gears 1 fans and has OVER 9000! Glitches.

The multiplayer was (and still is) crap and Horde mode was a rip off of what a few games had already did but the reviewers were all like "ZOMG gaiz look at this completly revolutionary feature."

gears 1 was my all time favorite game which i played every day almost, i waited for gears 2's patches to see how it would turn out, now after the third one i lost my hope, and thinking of getting rid of it. so for me it s gears of war 2.

Fallout 3 and Halo 3. Both games are not terrible but neither game really got me excited. I enjoyed Halo enough to finish the campaign but after 12 hours of Fallout 3 I had had all I could take. Just not my cup of tea.

Gears of War 1 and 2. Played through both games multiple times, and the most fun I ever had with either was playing in coop making fun of everything in the game. Other than graphics, those games feel like a big step backwards in terms of what all you can do compared to other games. So you can chainsaw someone... wasn't that an option in the original Doom? Ok, so now you can chainsaw someone without putting your gun away... woot! What about being able to jump?

drgrady

Haha yeah I did this too. It's hard not to make fun of it with the gruff, ridiculously over the top voice acting and forced male testosterone. Every 5 seconds it's "oh great, hide behind another convieniently placed object to fire on enemies until they die". Rinse and repeat. Yawn. And the racial stereotypes in that game are ludicrous. Cole sounds like hes from the corner, the 'spiritual' character obviously modeled on native americans, and the texan white trash truck driver...
and when the latino guy found his wife and she was dead all I could do is lololol, epic cannot do character development. they should just stop trying to
ergh...

Also, guitar hero wt/rockband. I hate those games, and I play drums...

The Orange Box (for the PS3, at least) is awful. Portal is boring, Half-Life 2 controls terribly, and the framerate absolutely breaks Team Fortress 2.

Who cares about how repetative it is when the game has a solid story, you could say the same for final fantasy VII and Zelda: ocarina of time.KorruptRaiden
Gameplay is just as important as the story. Otherwise, I'd be much better off just reading books and not wasting money on a console and $60 games.

Yes but if you actually reviewed the gameplay of mass effect, its quite solid, its not run n gun, its cover and fire/flank, use some TACTICS something most modern shooters DONT HAVE.

As I mentioned before, I've played through Mass Effect four times... I think by now I should have some idea of the combat and strategy involved. Sadly, despite the classes and skills to level up, I still use just as much strategy in shooters like Halo and COD. For Mass Effect, the only strategy is ensuring that you have a good balance of skills between your character and the other two people with you. If you do a profile as a different class, you simply switch out one of the characters so that you always have the skills you need. And with any given character combination that you use, you will most likely approach every fight exactly the same way (for example: have your biotic start with lift, your tech character start with overload, and your soldier start with immunity and run in shooting followed by the biotic using barrier to run in shooting behind the soldier, and the tech uses sabotage. From there, you just shoot until everything is dead, but the basic idea is that you'll use the same skills in about the same order for every fight... not much strategy after the third or fourth fight).

As I said before, I really like Mass Effect, but I can also see why other people do not like it. The gameplay gets very repetitive, every building on a planet that is not associated with the main story looks identical, and the planets that are available to explore are largely empty space that are simply annoying to explore. The story doesn't even get interesting until you're over halfway through the game, and the character class does not matter except for achievements since you always get two other characters following you around.

For me there are 2 games that I didnt like :-

1) Prince of Persia( 2008)= This game was too simple and lot easier than the previous installments. Game seems to built for only casuals.

2) GTA 4 = Multiplayer is good but I hate the missions in GTA 4 go to some place, kill this guy or kill the guy while trying to escape.Iwish it was more like GTA : san andreas, had a blast finishing the entire game.

Geez where do I start...

Now, I like Call of Duty: WAW more than most people, but I understand all the guff about it, it's not that great a game. I just think it's lotsa fun.

I haaaate gears of war 1. I haven't played the second one but I thoughtthe firstwas pretty awful. I LOVE KoToR and Assassin's Creed. Again, more than most people.

Mario Galaxy was good, but the controls weren't responsive at all, I don't care what anyone says. And there was absolutely no consistency in the difficulty. All the stars were eitherway too easy orreally hard to get. I know it's for Wii, but I wanted to throw that out there. The graphics and everything else were just beautifully done though.

Team Fortress 2is the single worst multiplayer game I've ever played. It's definitely not n00b friendly as it is,so combine that withthe ability to mod VERY easily, and HOOOOORRIBLE visual glitches, and you got pretty much an epicFAIL.

Forza 2. Worst racing gameI've ever played. Awful.

Fallout 3. The most overrated piece of schlock this side of the millenium, other than The Dark Knight.

Twilight Princess. Again, for Wii, but this game makes me mad. I'm a huge Zelda fan,it's my favorite series by far, but Nintendo should have realized by now, TEXT IS ANCIENT. I would prefer that they maintain Link's silence, but even no voice acting in Wind Waker was pushing it. This game was also a total cakewalk for any longtime players.

Rock Band. I'm all for a good game of Guitar Hero, but Rock Band 1 was just pathetic. The hardware was complete garbage. The mic worked fine, but the guitar broke within a couple weeks, and the drums didn't work at all. There were ridiculous calibration issues, the tracklist sucked, and alot of horrible glitches.

Guitar Hero World Tour. Oh my gosh. Talk about stooping to Rock Band level just for sales. All they did was copy the broken formula of Rock Band. It's a great idea, having the primary band instruments, but we're just gonna all have to be patient till someone does it right.

And ya know what, I'm definitely not ashamed to say that, even though I'm a guy with almost no tolerance for cheese, I LOVED Eternal Sonata. I don't care if the voice acting sucks, the combat was fantastic, the story was great, the characters were charming and lovable, and, oh my gosh, the visuals were INCREDIBLE. I know alot of people hated this game alot, but I thought it was just great.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents.

It's good to see Gears of War is on here so much. but I'm curious to what games you people actually did like. If you hate Halo, COD4, Guitar Hero, Mass Effect, GTA4, what game did you enjoy?

Didn't live up - Gears Of War 1 & 2, WAW, Left For Dead, Madden

Met - Halo 3, GTA4, FarCry2, Rockband, Ninja Gaiden 2

Exceeded - Call of Duty 4, Fable 2, Mass Effect

I tell you right now. I would kill for a modern Phantom Dust, & Advent Rising.

Many people mentioned this, but DOTA. Instead of making more TDs or Gladiators (anyone even remember Gladiators?) they just play DOTA. Seriously. By the way, a lot of people actually hate Halo. 90% of the people at my school say that Halo is for losers. To be honest, it's become quite popular to hate Halo.

That's sure what it seems like. I can understand if that's just not your type of game, but I don't see what's to hate (other than annoying people in matchmaking, but I get that in any online game). Bungie has done a lot of good things with the Halo franchise, and many developers today still are not matching the experience of Halo CE. I think even if you really don't like the Halo games, Bungie at least deserves some credit for making linear levels that are open enough for vehicular combat, having some pretty fantastic vehicular combat, creating a pretty solid matchmaking system (along with respawn points that, while not being perfect, make spawn camping next to impossible), and continuing to support the online community for a couple years after the game launched.

Halo 3 and Mass effect

Halo 3- Dont mind the single player, but don't see much special in the multiplayer, especially forge. Played mulitplayer for a while, found it too easy, went back to COD4.

Mass effect- Decided to buy this after hearing everyone saying how great it was (i also love fallout 3, oblvion and fable 2). However it was just sooo boring. Combat was boring (constantly having to go into a menu to select what your team mates did. I took it back soon after.

Worringly there are quite a lot of you saying COD4, Gears of war 1/2. Great games?

Left 4 Dead, definitely. It's got a terrible plot, if it even HAS one(Escape the zombies...uhhhh...anything else?), I beat one of the four "campaigns" in 40 minutes(so I' assuming it's really short), the enemies have no variety(I saw about 500 generic zombies, one or two with big tongues, several big ones...Tanks?, two fat ones that didn't really seem to be a threat and...that was about it during my playtime. A few zombies crawled too, but I wouldn't consider that its own type of enemy...), the gameplay wasn't stunning in the least and it was pretty ugly IMO(There were a lot of zombies on screen sometimes, maybe that could be an excuse, but it looked like a PS2 game even when there weren't any zombies around)...leave it to Valve to make something everyone likes but me(I didn't like the videos I saw of Team Fortress 2 very much, Portal didn't interest me and Half-Life 2 wasn't terrible, but I didn't like it much either...). =P

I also thought all that before getting the game, but I'LL BE FREAKING DAMNED if I didn't have a crapload of fun with it. I freaking love Left 4 Dead, but I can totally see why some people don't like it. Now... the game I dislike, well I don't really dislike, but I don't like as much as most people is Bioshock. I played through it, I saw everything people said it was great, but it's just not my style. I always felt weird playing it.

Anything by Valve, anything by Blizzard. I honestly don't think I've had a lick of fun with anything either of these companies have created, except the dialogue in Portal.

Halo (I say that, as I firmly believe all three games could have been a single title) is probably my favorite first-person shooter, but that really isn't saying much.

Gears of War is hilariously bad, it reminds me of the Friday the 13th movies. How anyone thinks this is great gameplay is beyond me, with games like Resident Evil 4 out there.

Oblivion was a dramatic step down from Morrowind. I don't hate it or anything, but man was it disappointing.

The Grand Theft Auto series...is becoming insanely stale. I like sandbox games and all, but man, these games are all the same. I loved Bully, I wish Rockstar would infuse GTA with some of that new life...

Final Fantasy series is hilariously overrated.

I don't really "hate" any of these games, most of them were just disappointing.

I don't care for JRPGs, though I haven't played on in years. Sometime here, I'll tryone out to either confrim tore-evaluate my opinion.

As for a specific series, I'm not much into Grand Theft Auto. I have to empathize with the character or role I'm playing in a game. Examples: Mythical hero (RPGs), soldier (shooters), military commander (strategy games). As for GTA, I've never wanted to be a criminal, in a game or otherwise.

i thought bioshock was just bad. it took like 5 headshots to kill an average enemy. it was almosy impossible to kill a big daddy. the story line was crap. the graphics werent the best. and every halo. dont know why people think that game revolutionized fps. its the most generic fps on the planet. your a space marine.... and all you do through the whole goddam game is shoot things... no upgrades or special tasks or anything.... just shoot things.

Well GTAIV is on that list, along with Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

Im not going to explain my reasons for either, because I'd much rather not get banned :)

For me, it has to be Mass Effect. I have no idea why people like this game. It is so boring. I think the graphics are good but that's about it. The combat is crappy, the story is ok but not enough to get me to play it. It just seems like a very average game.

Agreed. I also don't grasp Halo 3 the way everyone else does.

Who thinks that? The first one introduced or popularized several concepts that have become very popular, but I don't think it "revolutionized" anything.
