GOTY Predictions

Hey, What does everyone think the GOTY is going to be? Please, no trolling about other peoples decisions. ex.

If your gonna post like that, just don't post. Anyway, I think it will come down to AC2, L4D2, MW2, Borderlands and dragon age.

Hmm, I think MW2 might take the cake... Borderlands is a great game, but they might not choose it cause lack of story.

While, actually I think dragon age has a good chance. If I missed a hit game, sorry. =P I'm pretty sure I forgot a few.

For me it would be Dragon Age followed by Borderlands, but Uncharted 2 and MW2 are going to win all of the GOTY awards.

Hm,, Well I just love borderlands. But, I think it might be a bit done for GOTY, because of its lack of story and depth. But the gameplay was amazing.

I agree that Borderlands is far from perfect and probably doesn't deserve GOTY, but it's the most fun I've had with a game this year. Can't wait for the zombie DLC!

GOTY For PC hands down is Dragon Age Origins for me. For Xbox 360 I would say Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. For PS3 I will have to say Uncharted 2 (Demon Souls is to hard to be considered GOTY). For the Wii it would be the New Super Mario Wii. I feel Left for dead 2 will not beat Modern Warfare 2 on multiplayer (Unless people get wise to the fact that it is now the same thing we have been playing for 3 games now... but i still love it and others do aswell). Also for biggest disappointment i would say Halo 3 ODST. I feel Assassins creed 2 will be good ( i have pre ordered it so i pray and hope) but will suffer from the replay value and possible lack of variety. Other games to take not of Infamous (thats 2009 right?) Forza 3 (for best driver) And Ratchet and Clank future (for best plat former).

I feel Dragon Age will get GOTYbut not on 360 (its the worst on 360). Uncharted 2 is a PS3 exclusive and I have just stated the obvious. Any ways... MW2 it probably gunna win based off of hype salesand results unlike ODSTand its Hype and sales (huge disappointment *I'm not flaming I'm just saying $69.99 was way overpriced for a game that can be beat in 2 hours, and no way to play firefight without the person being on your friends list. I mean seriously how hard would it have been to make it a bit like Horde from Gears of War 2).

Theres no such thing as the title "GOTY". There are only people with individual opinions saying their favorite game. And that game becomes GOTY.

I could make a random website and say XXX was my game of the year, and the game XXX could then make a GOTY Edition, and say their game was "GOTY". It would not be that credible of a source, but it WOULD be a source.

Unless everybody in the world all said one game was "GOTY", no game can ever be the game of the year.

I know, I wouldn't call it Game of the year.. and even though I don't like some games I still think they might win game of the year. So I think your wrong, some people may think of there fav game is GOTY, but not all. But, there is a title. It's not OFFICIALY, but its still a title. and were just guessing.. What? Who is "they"?

Nobody can declare a game "GOTY". Well they can, but it still does not make a game the "GOTY". A bunch of different big companies tend to choose different GOTY's. Gamespot could say the MW2 is GOTY, but Gamespot could choose Dragon Age: Origins as GOTY, and then some small individually run website could say Borderlands is GOTY... What does that mean then? that all those games are THE GOTY? There is not some council of gaming that chooses one Game to be the GOTY.

You could have an opinionated GOTY. So yes, if you have a favorite game, its gonna be your GOTY. If its your Favorite game, then why wouldnt it be your GOTY? Again, no gaming website that chooses a GOTY has more supremecy over the others.

Just change GOTY to best of show. You know at the end of every year every website does the best games of 2009. Please stop making GOTY an issue. This post was made to see what game(s) do people think are the best of 2009.

Have you never heard of it? Fallout 3 GOTY Edition, pretty sure theres cod 4 GOTY edition. And I think oblivion has goty edition because i'm pretty sure they won.

And they all got announced at the "official video game wars" and they pick "GOTY"

Just because its 60$ Doesn't change if its an expansion or not, it has a campaign.

And half of the game is just including whats from halo 3. So It's like rebuying halo 3 with a different campaign, So while taking the exact same thing.

It's an expansion. Also, the Halo 3 - ODST, Is an expansion kind of name.

Well what site does it say if got GOTY from? At least Best of E3 is easy to find out and E3 has a reputation. There is no GOTY community that hands out awards at the end of the year. Each site does its own thing and gives kudos to games they liked. I do believe you have to have a GOTY win on a major site / magazine but there are too many of those and many are bias (OXM, PSM, Nintendo Power)

Yeah I'm talking about best of E3, That's what cod 4 - fallout 3 etc. got right?

best of E3 is found on any game (Genera) that the people of E3 voted to be the best I see it on Crysis (2007), World In Conflict (2007), Crysis Warhead (2008) and a few other games i got by my computer. It is just a selling feature. Makes Hype and desire for people to buy it.

To be honest GOTY editions for Fallout 3, Oblivion, Morowind (Elder scrolls 3) all are just the game + expansions... Much like The Force Unleashed Ultimate sith edition (did not have GOTY so it could not call it GOTY edition).

I personally like gamespots way of doing it with the opening on the envelopes and then reasons why it won.

It use to but I've heard that the GOTY edition no longer comes with a code (and hasn't for quite some time) for the map pack.

We are talking about the Xbox 360 GotY I presume and not overall GotY.

As of borderlands is one of the funnest games i've played this year. It's poor story and depth will proably cause it not earning GOTY, but the everything else in the game I found perfect, really great game. btw guys ODST can't be nominated its an expansion.

Well in previous years Metal Gear Solid 4 won GOTY... i dont agree... it did not get the highest sales of that year (I believe it was GTA4 who did). Personally it was all hype and it was one of the best games on the PS3 (still is for exclusives, along with Uncharted 2). At the time the PS3 had a game deficiency and alot of people we crying about it not having the games the 360 did. MGS4 got GOTY from gamespot and it stopped alot of crying.

Yeah, I've got a hunch that Modern Warfare 2 is going to lose in the end.

I myself am pulling for BlazBlue... but that's just a pipedream. It'll probably just be nominated for Fighting Game of the Year and then lose to Street Fighter IV by both GS and the community since, y'know, only 100,000 people spread across 360 and PS3 actually own the game. :P
