as a matter a fact, it has been officially said by bungie that it will NOT be a sprint button. ima see if i could ifnd the link cuz i forgot what website it was in.
I always thought it would be more than just a sprint button, but more and more it is looking to be that way. "Will we see the function of the mysterious X button? Yes. Whether or not it’ll still be mapped to X is subject to change. And honestly, it won't be all that surprising. Just cool." Based off that quote from the Bungie FAQ on the beta I would say its either a sprint or taunt button.

I hope it's not a cover button, that would turn it into a Gears/Rainbow 6 ripoff. I would be really disappointed. My guesses: since it's already the hijack button, maybe it could also be like a close quarters "execution" button that would work like the hijack button. But then the melee would be obsolete, so I doubt that's what it is... It's probably the shield button, that would be cool because it would make it harder for rocket launcher whores to get easy kills and pull ahead. That would be nice, and if it reflected bullets/rockets... even better. If that's what it is though there should be a limit as to how many times you can use it in a certain time period so you don't just mash the X button to reflect bullets all the time.
A bit like Gears Of War, where you get to cover, but then master chief whips out a pack of cigars, opens his visor, and smokes himself to death.
Seriously? I think it is either the shield bubble, or a feature in which you can take your helmet off or flcik up the visor... I dunno what bemefit that would have, but you know, it's an idea...Â

It's how you reload a weapon that uses ammunition. It's also how you get into vehicles, exchange weapons, and hijack other vehicles. That is all that the "X" button does and "will" do. "Bubble shield" will be RB or it will be a weapon like a grenade.

No, theyve already confirmed the reload is to the RB and LB (when in dbl weild). X has a new function.

I agree Its not thats jsut a grenade i'm pretty sure in some pictures of the gameplay it showed the nades at the top and that was one of them so i think the bubble nade is going to be used like any other grenade and cover....that would just be a stupid move i highly doubt they will do that

i like the idea of going into a mortalkombat kind of deal with someone else where when u it X you throw a big punch and put r gun away, then use the other buttons to throw a combo of moves, make it somethin fun like that where no1 can interfere withu and they can only shoot each other , then have an execution button when ur done beating themdown, like hit RT to execute, and u nap their neck, thatd be sick

Huh? I read an article where some gamesite was questioning Bungie about the "x" button, and bungie says it's used just for team speak, but idk... and sorry, i don't have a link cuz i don't remember (im not trolling either)
if its the bubble shield i want to see like bullets flying everywhere and things falling apart and grenades flying in from every direction and turrets firing off everywhere and big blasts from wraiths so there is some use to the thing with guns blazing everywhere
Bungie said that it isn't suprising, but will totally be cool. I bet that the X button will be some sort of cool knife attack. But then again that would totally be weird since there's also the melee button. well, I hope that it'll be cool, like Bungie said.

People keep on referring to the alpha build screens that were recently posted on the internet. Yes there was in fact an extra grenade slot...but if you look closely the picture in the top left resembles a spike grenade. The spike grenade has actually been announced too.

it's not, the link the dude a few posts above me showed is true and remember,bungie said It's going to revolutionize the way you play Halo. and a mute button isn't going to revolutionzie nuttin although it will be input by the probable back button. maybe it has to do with the bar you see in the video of the beta/ alpha. if you guys noticed it, it depletes little by little after every shot. the stronger the weapon the more it depletes, but it regenerates automatically. who knows, could be the new way to show your shield but it could be something else...
