Ok, what i mean by this is have you ever played a game just for the achievements?

Now being a big achievement hunter/whore myself, i will on occasion indulge in such a practise.

So i was wondering if others have done this, the reason i'm asking is because i came here from basically only ever being on 2 other smaller achievement based websites, and wondering what other gamers from a strange place like this do :P

PS...feel free to share your gamerscore if you want, i would post mine but it's soooooooooo small i don't want to be embarrassed by the size of everyone elses :(

Lol you got a pretty decent GS haven't you??

As for me, I've never played a game just to get achievements. It's not really my thing. Although sometimes if I'm bored and have nothing else to play then I might try and earn a few. But nothing major.

You know i have a small amount of GS m8.

I play my games first and foremost, but where others might move onto the next game once they finish the campaign etc, i like to go back and challenge myself to get the full 1000GS.

Did you not play Avatar: TLA - TBE on the 360??? it takes 5 mins to get the full 1000gs lol.

I am guilty of the Avatrar deal, but not much of an achievement whore otherwise. If something is easy and I've already finished a game, I might spend a little time trying to get it. My backlog is way too big to be investing a lot of time in achievements though.

Achievements can be fun also. I don't play a lot of MP these days, most MP games are shooters which don't interest me including Battlefield.

Nah, I didn't play Avatar. But that's the thing, I would never play a mediocre game just to get achievements. Life's too short for that:)

I've achievement whored in the past, found it time consuming and I didn't get to enjoy gaming as much cause it turned into a chore. I don't have Avatar in my history(though I own the game) but I do have some others that are super easy to 1k like Toy Story Mania and the early sports titles. As much as I play games though I should probably have more points, I'm only at 94,760 right now.

I loved doing it, playing every game for the achievements, it gave me an extra reason to complete a game at least, even if it was a shitty game. Not sure why I don't really do it now.

@suicidesn0wman: That's still a decent amount of GS, for a while there devs started to make it tough to get achievements in quick time during the 360 era (near the end) there were heaps of games that took ages to complete GS wise. Now with so many ID@XBOX games coming out on the XB1, games have become so easy get the 1000g again.

Having said that, i don't play a lot of those games, maybe 1 or 2 a year, and last year was the worst year i've had GS wise since achievements started.

I get them when I can for certain games, but I don't go much out of my way unless I just like the game.

Have you ever been to this site, it's an awesome site if you love statistics, it's run mostly by volunteers.

Care to share your GS? it's ok if you don't though :)

The reason i ask is because i want to see what other people's definition of high is.

I always enjoy trying to get as much out of an achievements as possible in a game that focus on single player only, I hate the mandatory MP achievement BS (Looking at you Halo!) I don't even bother trying to get any achievements in MP. This post also applies to PlayStation Trophies and Steam as well.

Also my Achievement score is: 23,968!

Avatar wasn't even mediocre. It was honestly straight trash. That's not an opinion. Anyone who has that in their GS repertoire is, by definition, an achievement whore....myself included. That said, it literally took me about 90 seconds to get those achievements. Life ain't that short.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought this was a topic in a general forum. I do tend to play more on Playstations than my xBoxes. My GS on 360/1 is only 3,715

I do have some phases from time to time where I want to get some plats or a lot of trophies. But that's usually just a short phase lasting a few days or weeks. I also did use some cheap tricks like auto-popping Sound Shapes.

It also happens that I continue a game to plat it. At the moment my FF15 plat popped, I didn't like the game at all anymore (not that i ever was totally into it). I just wanted to get that plat to be in my list and I also think it gives my opinion on the game a bigger weight. If I say that I think FF15 is horrible, owning its plat actually shows I do know what I'm talking about.

There are also (a lot of games) I just love to play and the plat either pops during normal play or I decide to get after them. But even after plating for example Disgaea 5, I still continued to play its post-game content. It was nothing more than another "quest". I guess those were the majority of my plats ^^

Yeah your GS on Xbox shows how little you play it lol.

I don't like the way Sony does it with those trophies, i like my numbers :)

I try to 1000g every game i play, of course it doesn't always work out that way but my completion rate is in the high 90's.

SP games also have some ridiculous achievements too, but yes most MP achievements are put there by devs to keep traffic as high as possible for their games.

I have downloaded, installed, and played a game just to get one achievement because the achievement amused me enough.

Otherwise, I tend to achievement whore only in MMOs. And then, during the times where there's really not much else to do.

If I really enjoy the game, ill try and get the 100%. ATM I'm going back and doing daily/weekly challenges to literally get maximum level achievement. 100s of hours for 40GS haha. I much prefer GS over trophies. Ive never bought a game purely for easy achievements. I really enjoy telltale games, despite them being extremely easy

EDIT: Forgot to say its Rayman Legends haha

Ah Rayman Legends, i've heard it has one grindy achievement.

As for Telltale games, they are really, really easy. Even i know that and i've never played any of them as i like to play games, but that's a story for a different time/place :)

I like achievements, Not gonne hunt everything, because some are to grindy or hard. at the moment i'm busy with the Skyrim remaster, got 1140G (out of 1550) haven't finished the story yet, been collecting achievements since starting it up.

my GS is 86637 at the moment, considering I don't hunt achievements in every single game I like tot hink that its a fair score

Sometimes achievements can take you down paths that you might not take under normal play, and by doing so you can learn more about the world the game is set in etc.

But yes i also see the waste of time they can be when a developer just puts grindy achievements with little to no reward for getting them other than to say you got it.

I would look them up before even starting a game and would play the games at an unnatural pace to try to get them. there were even a couple games I actually quit because I wasn't enjoying them that I know I would had liked if I wasn't altering my play.

Yes achievements/trophy in some games like Souls aren't bad sense it force you to explore and go to all the hidden area. I'm already a huge souls fan so don't really need the extra motivation. good point that i can somewhat area on.

I never actually bought a just for trophy but I have had the dishonor of going after collectables

Depends on the game and if I like it well enough to get the achievements. I couldn't get all the Dead Rising 4 achievements because the game started to be a chore though I did like the gameplay and story but by the time I got half of the collectibles I wanted to finish it and play another game. This seems to happens when I don't put many hours into a game and dwell it for too long. I also regret starting with a new Gamertag/account this generation. I had 15,000 GS on the Xbox 360 and 22,0000 or so on my new account on the Xbox One. What's your Gamerscore OP?

I knew a couple of people who started new gamertags, one guy got his GS to exactly 99,999 and started all over again. The other person got spot on 100,000 before he started again. I also saw a few GT's up for sale as they had a few hundred thousand GS on them.

As for my GS, well lets just say i have enough lol.

I'm currently waiting for a certain individual (who will no doubt read this) to pony up his gamertag and honour his part of the bet before i reveal mine :)

My Gamerscore is 148,262 and that's being a Xbox live member for 10 years. I used to be all about those cheeves because my friends and I used to compete always trying to get a higher cheeve score then the other. But now I just play whatever, playing Blue Dragon now and that's a game where youd be lucky to get more then a couple of cheeves.

Depends on the game, on most open world games that encourage exploring and maybe finding items I will usually achievement run through it.

When I play most FPS campaigns I try to do all the side pickups/achievements all in 1 run, so I don't need to keep replaying them.

I like to enjoy the game first picking up whatever achievements pop along the way, and usually go back and clean up what's left. Having said that there is times where i will get into an achievement whoring mode and just play some easy games for GS, but that doesn't happen very often now, i go for completion ratio now, yeah i'm a stat man, my GS and completion rate would shock 99.9% of people on here :)

Nice GS, do you play a lot of easy GS games or just whatever you like?

I have that one lol, but in my defense i have a lot more games completed to the full 1000gs that are very time consuming then those that are easy.

Now I play some easy ones before like King Kong and TMNT. Also I have played most of the tail tell games, but I do like those games. I also have a few I had to grind for the full 1000 that I'm proud of like Far Cry Primal and Call of Duty 2

Although achievement aren't the most important thing to me I must admit I probably would have switched to PS being my go to system if they didn't exist

I've played King Kong and it wasn't a bad game for it's time, and yeah i did the first TMNT game also. I hate those Telltale interactive movies (i refuse to call them games) played the first episode and will never touch one of their movies again.

Far Cry Primal is easy from what i've heard and CoD 2 i found only mildy difficult in places.

So i take it you're a member of TA then?

I don't think so. I only ever completed, as in 1000 points, 3 games. King Kong, Inside and Quantum Break. All 3 are easily done. I have over a 1000 in other games like Fallout 3 but that's due to DLC. Gamerscore is 51K and change

I love being an Achievement Whore...lol. Ever since it was introduced, it just gave games a lot of replay value. My issue was, I had a bad habit of changing tags on Xbox throughout the years, so I was never consistent enough. Now that I have the Xbox One S, I'm trying to no longer change tags, so far I'm almost at 1,000 for Rainbow Six: Siege, I have 1,000 for Watch Dogs 2, and my next game is Forza Horizon III. I'm holding off on that game; until I purchase a 4K TV to benefit from HDR. The TV I have now is pretty lame, couldn't take my original TV, because I moved to New York and wasn't going to fit in my car...lol.

My only gripe sometimes is with DLC, I can be done with a game and one day an extra 100 or so points are added to the original 1,000 I have already unlocked...lol. Lowering my 100% completion rate. I just like to think that if I hit 1,000, then I completed the game in its original state. Some games like you mentioned are quite difficult to get 1,000 like Gears of War 4 has this insane amount of grinding and I've seen The Witcher 3 has an achievement to complete it at the hardest difficulty level.

Even on Steam or Origin, I try to follow the achievements, I just wish Steam had them a bit more fleshed out. You don't even get a "ding" notification...lol

@kinky-unikorn: Yeah those damn DLC achievements are a dagger to the heart of completionists such as myself lol.

How do you go through so many gamertags, I've had mine since 07 i think, and my GS is at the point were i could never think of starting all over again.
