I love being an Achievement Whore...lol. Ever since it was introduced, it just gave games a lot of replay value. My issue was, I had a bad habit of changing tags on Xbox throughout the years, so I was never consistent enough. Now that I have the Xbox One S, I'm trying to no longer change tags, so far I'm almost at 1,000 for Rainbow Six: Siege, I have 1,000 for Watch Dogs 2, and my next game is Forza Horizon III. I'm holding off on that game; until I purchase a 4K TV to benefit from HDR. The TV I have now is pretty lame, couldn't take my original TV, because I moved to New York and wasn't going to fit in my car...lol.
My only gripe sometimes is with DLC, I can be done with a game and one day an extra 100 or so points are added to the original 1,000 I have already unlocked...lol. Lowering my 100% completion rate. I just like to think that if I hit 1,000, then I completed the game in its original state. Some games like you mentioned are quite difficult to get 1,000 like Gears of War 4 has this insane amount of grinding and I've seen The Witcher 3 has an achievement to complete it at the hardest difficulty level.
Even on Steam or Origin, I try to follow the achievements, I just wish Steam had them a bit more fleshed out. You don't even get a "ding" notification...lol
