Because I play my 360 on a standard definition 21' and it's fine. HDTVs cost way too much (like all cars) and there not that better than SD, I've even seen it on a 32'720p and made no difference. But I suppose if your rich then... why not.

So to my point, don't buy an HDTV becauseyou can buy a lot more games that way.

There's no point in getting hung up about this comment because he's the only 1 missing out if he thinks SD is better than HD or whatever he said. As long as you're happy thats all that matters!

Ermm ok I don't see how it's worlds difference, coz I seen games and films in HD and they make barely any difference. And how can you not wanna go back to SD? It's alright to me. Gears looks really nice in SD, I think it's a waste of money to buy an HDTV.They are like 500 odd quid for a good size HD.

Agreed.... HDTVs are VERY affordable these days. Anybody who can afford a $400 console to play games on shouldn't be talking about having to be *rich* to afford one. Also there is a MASSIVE difference between SD and HD gaming....

SD isnt considered good. That's why they're phasing out SD broadcasting. So your gonna have to get an HDTV in 4 years anyway and experts are saying that they're not going to be getting any cheaper.

TC, the fact is, HD is better than SDand the difference is very noticeable. Why don't you buy a 19" widescreen monitor with a VGA connection, maybe even a 22"? They are quite affordable.

@TC

i own a 32" 720p LCD HDTV and trust me, there is a freaking huge difference. not only is the image sharper and clear, when properly calibrated, the set truley shows off what the wider color gamut can produce. i have a Westinghouse LTV-32W3 which has a 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 16 million colors ( 8-bit color ). the difference this makes over my old tube SDTV is beyond phenomenal. i was watching M:I II and The Minority Report last night on TNT HD and they make the SD counterparts look like s---. hell, in minority report, you could actually see the film grain the subtle details in the movie (like the wrinkles on people's faces.) the bourne supremacy was without a doubt the best thing i've seen in hd on tv. watching xbl hd movies like the fountain is like having a completely different movie experience (especially if paired with surround sound). if you haven't seen an hd movie on a properly calibrated hdtv, you don't know what you're missing. btw, you can buy hdtv's for less than a grand now. i bought mine on sale from J&R last christmas (i live in new york so i just walked in and bought it) for $750 with taxes. if you want, you can buy a sharp, samsung, toshiba, westinghouse, or visio for a price between $600 and $1000 depending on the size.

true. some lcd hdtv makers have recently said that pricing on hdtv have already hit rock bottom meaning that this is the lowest they will go until OLED's come on the market. the first on will come on sale next year from sony with samsung following suit shortly. too bad toshiba got sued. i would have loved to have bought an SED from them. oh well. OLED's are feaking sweet. the set is merely a few milimeters thick and are now being made in sizes comparable to LCD's. they have contrast ratios of 100,000:1 while LCD's now have contrast ratios of upto 25,000:1 (dynamic of course. static is about 8,000:1 to 10,000:1, like a plasma tv.)

Thats actually kind of interesting. Would you sacrifice a larger screen SD tv for a considerably smaller tv/monitor, just for the sake of highdef? just curoius. Ive though about getting a small screen hdtv to play my 360 on, but I dont know if i would enjoy it on a smaller screen just for hdv

HD is definitely better than SD. When I first got the Wii, the games were pretty good, but they felt like they were lacking something. Then I got a 360 and took full advantage of my HDTV, and while the gameplay was essentially the same (read: fun) the massive improvement in detail greatly enhanced the overall experience. It'll be hard going back to playing Wii games, unfortunately :)

Well, there you go.. 99% of the time the HDTV's in the storeare running in SD broadcast. And they usually never show 360 games in HD. Thanks a lot for wasting our time guy..
