Honestly, I have no complaints at all.I've not been having any issues being disconnected except for the night they were posting the update, which is understandable. I don't find it any "clunkier" than it was before, and I havent experienced any lag on starting netflix or anything like I've been reading here, it works fine. My only complaint about netflix is that I cant figure out how to watch with party now, and in major nelson's video he did say we'd still be able to do that (matter of fact he said it would be easier due to beacons, which are kinda useless right now, just a flag saying "hey play this with me", theyd be better if you had the option to auto join someone with a beacon) Other than that, I just wish we had a more in depth explanation of how cloud works. If what I read on here was right and it reserves that space on your harddrive as well, that kinda sucks, cause that means it's still using up space on my hard drive, and the main thing I was looking forward to about it was freeing up some space, so I guess it's just being used for an online back up for me right now.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-12-08-metro-politics-what-xboxs-new-dash-means-article This Eurogamer article sums up, almost perfectly, what I think about it. I can't speak as to the usefulness of the apps or cloud saving because I don't have a Gold Membership. All in all, I still prefer the original "blades".Canvas_Of_FleshThat's a great article, it almost covers everything. The only thing about the article I disagree with is the Cloud Storage. It was explained to me, earlier in this thread, and I have to say that their 'cloud storage' is only a synching device. It's better than nothing, but it is not 'cloud storage'.
Weird, my Netflix works better now and has 0 lag or load times, it's almost instant. My only complaint I have is the friends list. I don't like how I can't see if someone is in a party or who's in it without clicking them and hitting show party.
Had I known this from the beginning, I would have never bought an xbox.My biggest complaint is the 360 doesn't recognize voice commands if I use a Russian accent.

Truthfully, most of my gripes have gone away. Bing still doesn't really have any use. I have lost options streaming movies from my computer and the obnoxious advertisements are still just plain awful. I am warming to the rest of it however, and if youtube and epix and all the other apps actually work then overall I will be pleased with the update.
When I watch netflix and want to watch a tv show, when i click on the show it automatically starts playing, it doesnt give me the option to pick my episodes like it used to.Does anyone think that it was worthless of a update.mrsniper83From what we have received so far, yes it is a worthless update. I get excited to use the kinect, then I actually try to navigate with it. What a freaking mess.
Yeah, there are far more selections and button clicks than before. What used to take just a second now seems like a minute. A minute doesn't sound like much, but it adds up very quickly... and then the frustration sets in.Weird, my Netflix works better now and has 0 lag or load times, it's almost instant. My biggest issue actually is the fact that:
-Netflix no longer shows the year a movie or show was made
-netflix starts playing an episode before you have a chance to get to the episode you really want to see
-prop animations no longer work except for when you look at everyone's profile directly. I know some people who have 32 friends, so are you saying in order for you to see your friend's prop animations, then you need to look at everyone's profile one by one, even for your own? I want to see my Gold Lancer!
I think it is truly, truly awful :(
Every time I come to use it I have to think about where things are going to be, and even then I often have a hunt around. Most of each screen is taken up with advertisments that I really am not stupid enough to follow or care about. This means that most things that I want are buried under 1 or 2 tiny green boxes. How inspiring!
The menus are inconsistent, so on games I can sometimes filter by type but not all the time?? Also menus like the 'New releases' secions give me a list of games but don't actually say what the release is, is it a demo, or a video or a gamer pic? selecting the item doesn't help because that just takes you to the game. Awful awful awful.
The other day I went to play a video from my hard drive. Of course i went to video first and looked around. Here, nope, here, nope again. Where is it? Oh, the video player is under 'apps', not video. Yeah that makes sense , silly me, why would I want my video player under Video when I can have all those lovely adverts instead.
Did they usability test this at all? I am pretty savvy with finding things in software, it's pretty much my job, but this pile of toss still has me baffled and annoyed.

That sounds like something Netflix has to fix, but I may be wrong. Either way it is unfortunate. As for prop animations, I didn't even notice, but if it is a concern of yours, it must be another thing that went wrong with the update.I have not been able to get on xbox live in days because they need a password now and I forgot mine.
Yeah I'm not a fan of the update. The Netflix feature takes longer to load and it is generally harder to navigate all the menus on the dashboard and everything. It's cool that they added the Youtube feature, but even then, it's nearly impossible to navigate if you want to see a playlist for example, rather than just a specific video. Another thing I don't like about it is that it blurs out a lot of the theme you have selected. I purchased the Battlefield 3 theme in anticipation of the game, and I used it before the update, but now, the update makes it so that you can't even see most of the theme you have on which is frustrating after you have spent 5 bucks or whatever on themes.
Random disconnection is my main annoyance, I'm just playing online and then suddenly I'm disconnected from Live never happened before the new dashboard.
My main complaint is that I can't play certain games. I try to load up Batman and the brand new game is "unreadable." Certain games work and others do not but this started to occur once I downloaded the update. If you go to Xbox's official forums many other Xbox users are experiencing the same issue. Microsoft refuses to acknowledge the issue. So yeah...the update was a complete screw up by Microsoft thats going to eventually lead to lawsuits by game developers because the Xbox's will eventually stop reading discs. It will become a widespread problem soon enough.
Too many notifications. I really don't care if one of my friends gets on the game I'm playing. I thought they had it down that nobody likes a billion notifications with the GUIDE BUTTON as a hotkey. They took that out in like 07 and I have no idea why they would ever put it back.texasfight54I hadn't noticed that one, but I have turned off almost all of my notifications already.
How well does a windows phone sell? Let's see, I know of one person who had (past tense), had a Windows phone and they absolutely hated it. Hated the Windows phone. Why Microsoft would align the Xbox with a Windows phone makes no sense to me. Seems to me Microsoft will run down and ruin Xbox Lives reputation by ruining it with the sorry windows platform.
Change it Microsoft. Fix it. I love my Xbox and I hate to see the platform get ruined like this.

Netflix, netflix, and netflix. It's a gigantic step back. I honestly don't even know what they were thinking. Takes longer to load. Automatically plays movies and tv shows when you click them. Biggest issue is for tv shows. I have to wait for it to finish loading to pause it, then go through episode lists to pick what I want to watch. Not seeing multiple scenes when fast forwarding/rewinding. No "play from beginning" button anymore so you have to rewind all the way to the beginning when wanting to rewatch something. When looking at tv episodes or movie info, the menu automatically hides after like 10 seconds so you have to constantly reopen it. It's just a load of *&$#. Ghost_702I am not sure if this is something Netflix has to fix or if it is something that the people at Microsoft need to handle. Either way, I agree with you that it is unfortunate. I stream a lot of videos from my computer and I have lost a lot of functionailty there too. I hope they at least recognize the difficulties instead of erasing all of the complaints.
I just started using HBOGo. It is amazing. The quality is far superior to Netflix, it actually looks 1080p, not jagged, washed out and blocky. HboGo is easy to navigate(you don't have to start the program to get information about it), unlike Netlfix. HBOGo also has a huge selection, it looks like many of the series HBO has created over the years are there, as well as all the movies HBO is currently offering.
So far this is easily the best app and frankly, the only one worth using.

Except you need to have a cable subscription to use it. Honestly, why can't I subscribe just to HBO?
I love Netflix, Youtube, HBOGo and Xfinity apps. Could care less about the rest of them. New dashboard is good except the advertisements and they made it harder to find your games (My Games) loved the old version better as far as finding and searching my game library.
